Morgan Hill Animal Hospital - This is the 7th day after the vet visit

Morgan Hill Animal Hospital

Dr. Harika has been an amazing vet to Dooso. I have also met with the other veterinarian on staff,…read moreand he has always been incredibly kind and helpful as well. Dr. Harika treated Dooso from the time he was about three months old. I eventually stopped coming only because I moved to Santa Clara. Around that time, Dooso developed SEVERE allergies that seemed almost like an autoimmune disorder. Another vet recommended that I take him to a dermatologist, so for the past six years, that is exactly what I did. And when I say dermatologist prices, I mean dermatologist prices. One exam was around $350 before medications or testing. We paid for allergy panels, immunotherapy drops, antibiotics, steroids, Cytopoint, Apoquel, Atopica, which is VERY expensive and constant skin testing. I was spending close to $1,000 a month, and Dooso would still have major breakouts every few months that required another round of appointments, steroids, and antibiotics. After years of this, I was exhausted and could no longer justify the cost when he still was not getting lasting relief. I decided to make the drive back to Morgan Hill to see Dr. Harika because he has always been honest and upfront with me. I was completely honest and told him, "I'm exhausted. I'm paying around $1,000 a month, and this is CRAZY." Dr. Harika and the other vet gave me their honest recommendations. They removed all the unnecessary medications and started Dooso on two basic medications. And what do you know? Dooso is now itch-free, his hair has grown back, and he only needs to visit about every six months for bloodwork and checkups. After six years of paying specialist prices, two basic medications finally gave him relief. We recently had another big scare when Dooso developed a large lump on his face. Of course, I immediately assumed the worst. Dr. Harika started him on antibiotics, followed up with several rechecks, and thankfully Dooso is now healthy and has even gained five pounds A huge shoutout to the vet tech who always gives Dooso treats because he absolutely loves her. Also, shoutout to the girls at the front desk who are always patient with me while I bring in my three-year-old and my very loud 18-month-old. I truly appreciate everyone at Morgan Hill Animal Hospital. I will gladly drive 30 minutes to bring Dooso somewhere that genuinely cares about finding comfort and solutions for pets instead of just trying to charge people for unnecessary treatments.

What was supposed to be a routine spay surgery at another clinic turned into an incredibly frightening and traumatic situation for our family. Lilly ended up needing emergency corrective surgery to fix serious complications, and we truly believe she may not have survived if it were not for Dr. Harika and the Morgan Hill Animal Hospital team. From the moment we arrived, they treated the situation with urgency, compassion, professionalism, and genuine care. They took the time to explain everything clearly, reassured us during an extremely emotional time, and most importantly gave Lilly the medical attention she desperately needed. We were especially grateful that they involved their feline specialist in Lilly's case to help put together the best medical team and surgical plan for her. Knowing multiple experienced veterinarians were working together to save our tiny kitten gave us so much comfort during such a terrifying time. Watching your tiny kitten go through something so serious is heartbreaking, but this team made us feel supported every step of the way. They didn't just care for Lilly during surgery--they continued to care for her long after. They followed up with us multiple times to make sure she was recovering well, answered every question I had over the phone, and welcomed us back anytime I had concerns or wanted her checked. They never made me feel like I was bothering them. It truly felt like we were family, not just another client. Thanks to their incredible skill and compassionate care, Lilly is now healing beautifully, recovering well, and back to being the playful little kitten she was before. Thank you for treating Lilly like your own and for being there for our family during one of the scariest experiences we've ever gone through as pet owners. We will never forget what you did for her and will always be grateful for giving our sweet Lilly a second chance.

I've been mulling over the death of my beautiful black lab for 6 years now. I had brought him into…read morethis vet clinic for a back X-ray because he seemed to be limping and in pain. The doctor who did the X-ray (I don't recall her name, sadly), showed me that my lab, who was 9, had a spleen tumor. She said he maybe had 6 months to live. I was devastated. I asked if there was any way he could have surgery. She said no and recommended some Chinese herbs to help prevent bleeding (in case the tumor burst, as if that could save him somehow). I was so stupid to trust what she said. I still cry over my big lab's death. I didn't think to go get a second opinion, and I should have, considering some other instances at this vet clinic where I believe my pets were wrongly treated (and no one would ever admit their fault). One time a tech gave my same lab an allergy shot in his neck that basically paralyzed him for a couple of days. He fell off his bed and I had to take him to an emergency clinic, where they tended to him. I found out, over the ensuing months and years after his death, that it is possible to have surgery. Golden Gate Lab Rescue (we foster for them) told us many of their old labs had successful surgeries to either remove the tumor or the entire speen! I was stunned to learn about this, and have since heard of many success stories. I am certain that if I had gone to another vet, a competent one, I could have had surgery done instead of watching my poor boy go through seizures, pain, and finally paralysis and death months after that diagnosis. I noticed too that the vet never brought in any other vet at this clinic to consult and discuss. She just said, sorry, your dog is going to die and there's nothing you can do. I am still grieving my lab, who was the love of my heart. He should still be alive today. Now, with the old lab I rescued, I do ultrasound screenings annually (Golden Gate Lab Rescue does this) to detect early any sign of a speen tumor, which is common in some large breeds. I don't know if this vet practice is any better, but 1) no one ever apologized to me and 2) they told me that since I had voiced concern over that neck shot, they refused to have me as a client any longer. I actually got a "dear John" letter from them, instead of their apologizing to me for the incompetent treatment that caused my dog pain.

I recently moved from Hayward to Morgan Hill, and wow--what a difference. I absolutely love it…read morehere. One of the best parts is having VCA San Martin just 10 minutes from my house. I brought my baby Lulu in and got connected with Dr. Zhen, and I'm so glad I did. She's super cool, attentive, and I really like her vibe. You can tell she genuinely cares. My dogs had a bad habit of being spoon-fed (yes, my fault ), and she gave me simple but effective advice--stop hand feeding and just leave the bowl out. And honestly... she was right. My senior dog now eats so much better. Before, it was such a struggle and I had to hand feed all the time, which just isn't realistic now that I have a baby. That advice alone made a huge difference. She also let me know Lulu was a little overweight (lol), and reassured me it's okay if she skips a meal or two--they won't starve themselves. I appreciated the honesty. Since I liked her so much, I also brought in my brother's dog, Belly Belle, and stuck with Dr. Zhen for both. She did dental cleanings on both dogs--though I was a little sad Lulu had to lose two teeth, I trust her care. Now the downside--and it's a big one--is the wait time. Every visit I've had, there's been a noticeable delay. The last time I brought Belly Belle, it took almost 30 minutes just to be seen after checking in, which is really frustrating. I understand things can run over, but it feels like there's not enough buffer built into their scheduling. When you plan your day around an appointment, that kind of delay adds up--especially with pets and a baby at home. Overall, I really do like the care and I plan to stick with Dr. Zhen. My 12-year-old senior dog is scheduled next--he has a lot going on (alopecia, dental issues), so I'm hopeful to see what kind of magic she can work for him. Just really hoping they can improve the wait times, because that's the one thing holding this place back from being a 5-star experience.

It's very important when you are sending a pet overseas to any country to get educated on that countries protocol and what and who you need to partner with (at least a year before) so you can set up a timeline for your pet to be ready to go.
