Dr. Smith was recommended to us by another vet who does in home services (Dr. Nagel) that had helped us out with a peaceful journey for our dog Minnie last year. Unfortunately, our other dog needed the same journey this morning. Both were over 16 years old. Dr. Smith is absolutely wonderful. Just like Dr. Nagel. Professional, caring, respectful etc... Making the decision to send you pet on their journey is extremely sad and difficult. Once you make that decision, you want someone who not only loves their own pets, but will give your pet the respect and love they deserve to go on their journey. If I could give them more stars, I would. It has taken me a long time to write this review. Losing my Moose was one of the hardest moments of my life and Paws and Claws truly made it so much easier on me. Moose was always afraid of the vet and weighing in at 90lbs before he got sick, I was always worried on how his last day would go. He was diagnosed with cancer and given months to live but God had other plans and I woke up one morning having to call a bunch of places for last minute euthanasia. Paws and Claws called me back before their "opening hours" and confirmed they could help me at noon that day. Dr. Smith startled Moose but she was so patient and calm and let him calm down before doing anything. She brought a blanket with her and was so patient with us, we never felt rushed and she handled Moose and the situation with love. Once Moose had taken his last breath, she waited outside to give us alone time with Moose. Together we helped wrap him up and helped Dr. Smith load him onto the stretcher and into her vehicle. Later that day we received an email with next steps and got to pick our urn and any additional gifts we wanted. The experience allowed our other dog to be there and it really felt like a peaceful moment. I have recommended Paws and Claws to neighbors and am so SO grateful for their help. read more

It's such a blessing to have places like Paws and Claws to ease the pain of dealing with the end of a beloved family pet's life. Our cat Sugar, a Flame-point breed, which was as sweet as sugar and the sweetest of our cats, was about 12 years old when cancer of his kidneys progressed quickly necessitating us to have to him euthanized to prevent him from suffering. Sugar was a very shy cat, that really didn't like going to the VET and would usually run and hide under the bed when someone rang our doorbell. Thus, we wanted Sugar to be euthanized at our home, so he would be in a relaxed atmosphere, but were worried he might get anxious upon seeing a stranger (Dr. Smith) in our house, so we ask Dr. Smith to text us when she arrived and not ring the doorbell. When Dr. Smith arrived at our house I met her outside. We went to the room where Sugar was and Dr. Smith slowly approached him, letting him sniff her outreached hand. Sugar was totally at ease with Dr. Smith's manner and I was relieved he was very calm and relaxed. Dr. Smith performed the procedure and it was very peaceful. She was extremely caring and respectful of our feelings and our beloved Sugar. Dr. Smith made the situation as good as you could possibly hope for under the circumstances. We opted to have Sugar cremated and have his ashes returned to us in an urn. The urn was actually a very lovely wooden box with a carved top and a label with Sugar's name on it. We loved it. Dr. Smith also made a clay impression and digital print of Sugar's paw, which we will also treasure. I couldn't thank this team enough for the amazing care they provided our family in one of the most difficult times. Our dog, Odie, fell suddenly ill and within days was not able to even lift his head anymore. After a very expensive visit to an emergency clinic in Gilroy, and finding out our boy had multiple things going on we discussed with our kids and made the decision that Odie needed to be put to rest. I called Paws and Claws the next morning when we saw Odie started getting worse, and they made arrangements to come see him the same day. Their gentle, genuine and caring nature during the procedure in our home honestly took a lot of stress off of us. Odie grew up with our kids so this was extremely difficult for them. They returned about a week later with Odie's ashes, his paw print in clay and a digital paw print with a poem! We got a detailed description of how the procedure would occur and how things would move after the matter. My kitties and I are a huge fan of Dr Michelle! She is based out of hollister so she can't make it to a Morgan Hill without adequate scheduling but I haven't had any issues for regular checkups. Having a mobile vet is a bit more expensive ($100) but I have 4 cats that HATE car trips so I think it's worth every cent. You could tell she had cats of her own and took her time with each of mine to understand their issues and make recommendations in addition to giving them their vaccines. Overall experience was very good and pricing was very competitive even with the mobile charge. read more
