I made the mistake of blindly choosing an insurance agent this way assuming they would all be the same. A mistake. I went to his office to consult with him because I hate conducting business like this over the phone. While waiting in his grungy uncomfortable office i started thinking the place could really use a good cleaning, there was a spider web on the chair next to mine and dust bunnies everywhere. I was 15 mins early for the appointment and waited over 35 mins past the start time. Total time of 50mins waiting and I could see straight into his office where he was eating an early lunch at 11:00am by himself and texting or playing on his phone the whole time (not talking on it). I was about to leave when the receptionist, bless her heart went and "reminded" him I was waiting. She lead me to his door and the first thing he did was introduce himself, ask my name, and ask what I was there for(no apology for the wait). When I told him I was first looking to clear up some questions I had about different kinds of policies, he stopped me and told me "Im really sorry I dont have a lot of time right now, I have a meeting out of office and need to get going here shortly. I could leave you with one of my associates to answer your questions or point you to some good information online before I leave." He said this as if we did not have an appointment and I had just walked in off the streets. Im a rather passive person so I told him I would just look it up online and left. I have never been so offended by a business owner in my life. I guess Rick Young wants you to do all the work yourself so he can just collect the commission. I do owe thanks to Rick though because without him I would never have found my new agent who is amazing. Maybe this was a fluke (doubt it) but I could never recommend this business to anyone. Ever.

Steve recommended I file a third-party claim with their insurance company directly. I loved that idea because I was really stressing about having an accident on my record that was not my fault at all! I did not want State Farm to potentially raise my rates at renewal because of it. Their insurance handled everything from start to finish and I did not have to file anything with State Farm to ding my insurance. They have better rates, with normal coverages and better pricing on our vehicles, and home. Jerry Columbo is the son and is the owner of this business for his dad who has passed on years ago, therefore he was trained well. He does a professional, wonderful job, talented multi-tasker with his business, family and events. IF he's not in the office his reps can take care of everyone by phone or in person.. He does reply quick to his emails. We have 3 vehicles insured, homeowners, life insurance policies and recently our son signed up for renters insurance. The more policies you have the more discounts you receive. if you have a high school student that has a good driving record or at college and they stay in the good student grades or GPA, you will receive a discount, also a discount for anti theft and actually the more policies you have the more discount. SO the location is on Hayes Rd. between 22 and 23 Mile Road. When it came to road service for an incident with my SUV tire, after calling State Farm, a courtesy company drove out within 30 minutes to assist me on the road. Our son back in college had a 2 incidents in southfield, not his fault a senior citizen pulled out of a side street and hit him. State Farm took care of it fast in repairs and the claims people were great too also with the 1-800 number. A very fast quick process with claims. Stop in for a quote or email him for a request for quote to compare. You will be happy and pleased that Jerry will match it or try to do his best. Like a good neighbor State Farm is there!
