This place is obviously not a winner. I will be telling everyone in the beach town that I live in not to go to this beach towns bar. I simply was trying to let this very unpleasant guy know that both their toilets were clogged just before going to grab my friends for what seemed to be karaoke set up but not a soul was in the bar. As I told the guy that both toilets were clogged he cut me off and said "I don't work here" and he walked away. So I was just completely thrown off and shocked because he just walked out from behind the bar. I proceeded to let the female behind the bar know and followed it with obviously the other guy didn't seem to care. I did my part I thought, as being a person that works F&B and letting someone know if something needed to be attended to in a bathroom. So as I headed over to the bar next door to grab my friends for karaoke, the same guy that said "I don't work here" came up to the door guy at the bar I was meeting my friends and said" she's drunk don't let her in". Okay, what did I just miss because I'm pretty sure that I'm not drunk and this guy is angry at something and is taking it out on me. It really upset me and I didn't understand. This guy ruined my night and left me outside and I wasn't even drunk. His name was Bill or Bob or whatever! He must have been doing a bunch of cocaine and didn't want to unclog the toilets. I kinda feel bad for him and his business. I will make sure to let everyone I know coming to key west to never step foot in this establishment. DONT GO HERE EVER! read more

This place always was a little uptight in a town of anything goes. But the music always made up for it. They always had great rock and roll that was not found in other bars. And it was always a great time that I would always recommend. I just left there after a dozen eighties songs which is not bad except every bar in the country does this. Key west is a beautiful place and the freedom that you feel here is like no other place in the country. If you want to to pay to be patted down and scanned as you go in to a a good band that you can here anywhere then this is not a bad place. Rick's & Durty Harry's entertainment complex is a great hang out place to have fun. It is for both the older crowd and younger crowd. The Ricks Bar, Rick's Loft, and Red Garter Saloon are more for the older crowd. Durty Harry's and the Crow's Nest are more for the twenty somethings where they could have jello shots and listen to one of the island's best bands, The Durtbags. There is a cover charge of $5. So excited when I found this place. We walked in to the live band playing Metallica, I knew this was my sort of place. The band, Durtbag, was entertaining, funny, and played great music. Thought the Rick's Tree Bar might be a cool place to stop for a drink. It might be a good place if you're drunk, or just looking to drink, but be prepared for lousy service from the bar. Cap it off with bar tender attitude as he must've been close to the end of his shift and he was ready to go home (which it turns out he was.) Rick's Bar lives up to it's advertising...they do have the best prices on Duval! Our bartender, Rick (no not the owner...we asked) was a wealth of information! Very friendly and delicious drinks! The music at the time that we went was hysterical! The guy would encourage audience participation...a lot of dirty language and insults, but all in humor...not for the faint of heart! This is the worst experience I had in Key West. The management of the strip club next door also runs Rick's, I was solicited by a bouncer to go into the strip club. I found the strip club to be sad and I was creeped out at the fact that a ton of old men were there, so I left. Apparently because of this they notified management that "a brown girl in a white shirt" was on the "do not let in list." After that they didn't let me into Rick's because it's the same management. It's a really shitty feeling to soberly stand outside of a bar and not be let in because I didn't like the strip joint next door. Mad whack. And possible racist?? I'll never know. read more

It gets on star because I can't review with negative stars! It was LobsterFest yesterday on Duval and about 90 degrees outside. We toured around the island and had a bottle of water with us like sensible people. We went into Rick's had a drink then walked around a bit more. We came back to listen to live music and this time the bouncer looked into my bag and asked if that was water. Of course. He takes the bottle and sniffs it and accuses me of having something other than water! I am not 20 years old nor do I look 20. Versus saying you can't bring any outside beverage he accuses me. I asked if he was serious as it was water! The bottle was almost empty anyway but accusing a customer is out right rude. I couldn't help but say if you think that smells like something other than water you must be an idiot. Another employee jumps in and gets in my face about insulting the bouncer. I seriously think the guy was going to hurt me. I stated again well if he thinks it's something other than water he must be. Before the man could beat me up I walked away. Think they need to teach their staff a little better. Might explain why every place on Duval was packed and hardly no one was there. In 90 degree weather drink plenty of water and make sure you don't have a drop left if you want to go to Rick's which I wouldn't recommend. This is a great place to go for live music and drink specials. One of the few places we found that didn't charge 7-8 dollars for a cocktail. And if you are military you get great drink specials on Thursday nights. After discovering it we went back every night! There are multiple bars inside the complex with something for everyone. Rick's was great, I really enjoyed the vibe of the bar and the drinks. However when we went to Durty Harry's I was extremely disappointed. I was passed over by the bar tender three times, when I finally got his attention to order asked for a drink with the "famous" hand squeezed grapefruit juice and he replied "we ain't got any but we have Caribbean breeze" before I could order anything he ran down to the other end of the bar and once again ignored me. I finally had to yell at him that I wanted two rum and cokes. He poured a one to two count of rum then filled the rest with soda, after shoving the drinks at me he then thrusted the tip jar my direction and yelled "tips go here, tips go here!!" I will never return to this bar and will spread the word to friends and family who frequently visit the Keys. read more

Update: We met with the manager the next day and he was very reasonable, good guy. He compensated my wife for the cost of replacing her license, and even threw in a couple of free drink tokens. While I am still extremely unimpressed with the behavior of the female bartender, I appreciate the manager's efforts to make things right. read more

The bartender had great suggestions that sounded awesome, but the four drinks we ordered were all pretty gross. The "sex with the bartender" tasted like stale juicy juice. I think it was just too complex. Maybe I have an uneducated palette. Anyhow, the absolute worst part was the live "music" which consisted of an old man playing a few chords on a raggedy guitar and then insulting the few customers who were there. And he wasn't a comedian. Excuse the language as we go forward from here, but...this "musician" they hired was just a dick. He called my friend a "faggot" simply because he wore a pink shirt. That's inexcusable anywhere, but particularly shocking in very gay-friendly Key West. He also said my wife looked "like she needed to take a big s***", and that's when we left. I'm guessing things get better on the weekends, but this place gets one star for having the nerve to bring in "music" that drives away customers. read more

It's a bar during Fantasy Fest. My wife and I are standing how to spot a little bit out of the way of the traffic. Security guard walks up and tells us we have to move so he can stand there. We move a few feet away, and then two minutes later he tells us we have to move again cuz he can't see over top of me at 6 feet tall. Definitely my favorite bar spot that we found during my time in Key West. Great outdoor bar which sits sandwich in "the alley" between Rick's and Red Garter Saloon. Lots of TV's, three different service bars spread out, and a great live band playing classic and modern day hard rock made this the perfect bar for me on a saturday night. While other bars closed at 230, the band kept playing until after 3 and the drinks were still flowing until what seemed close to 4. Not sure how long the current band has been playing, but they were the best bar cover band I've heard in a very long time. Unlike a lot of bars where the bands take breaks, they never stopped which meant nonstop entertainment. Definitely a return stop for me the next time I'm in Key West read more

I have never in my life had a worse experience at a bar. I'm guessing that it had something to do with being in the keys during spring break when lots of kids with fake I.d's are out and about but regardless, my friends and i were treated with so much disrespect it was mind blowing! I'm just gunna start by saying that we're all 23 years old. There were three of us , we started to walk in and we're I.d'd which is a normal thing we look about 21 so no big deal , we handed the bouncer our I.d's he looks at them and hands them to another bouncer because they were"questionable" and the second bouncer takes one of them and bends it completely in half causing the film to be lifted in a straight line down the middle, then proceeds to peel the film from another one. He tried to keep out I.d's claiming they were fake. Keep in mind there is a cop standing next to him LAUGHING. I show him a second form of I.d and finally decides to give us back all three of our i.d's but says he's not letting us in. After that I didn't want to go in so we walked away completely mind blown that we had been treated like that. I bartend and could never imagine any bouncer doing that. I saw another cop up the street and explained the situation and he immidiately asked us to follow him Back and he asked to speak with the manager who was very nice, and actually paid for my id to be replaced and bought my friends and I a round of beer. Needless to say that bouncer and cop should be FIRED! Don't go there if you look under 40 because you'll be accused of having a fake I.d. read more
