I've been wanting to go to the newly relocated Tiki House and managed to go on a Thursday night, and the atmosphere was exactly what you'd expect from a Keys tiki bar--laid-back, tropical, and full of energy. The live music was a nice touch, and the setting definitely screams vacation mode. However, here's the catch: Happy Hour was advertised everywhere--on the front signage and even in the hallways--but when we asked about it, the staff seemed completely unaware. No one could confirm the specials, and it felt awkward having to explain what we saw posted. For a place that promotes Happy Hour so visibly, this was a big miss. Drinks were solid, and the vibe was fun, but that disconnect on Happy Hour left us feeling a little disappointed. If you're going for the ambiance and a good time, you'll enjoy it. read more

We stopped in here twice during our stay in Key West. The first time was during a Food and Cultural Walking Tour. We stopped in quickly where our tour guide organized for us to get a "to go drink" for our tour. We had the Zombie and Moscow Mule. had a terrible experience at Tiki House in Key West. My friends and family drove all the way from Michigan to Key West and were specifically advised to check out Tiki House for the experience. Unfortunately, we never even made it through the door. When I approached the entrance, the bouncer looked at my Michigan driver's license, laughed in my face, and immediately told me I couldn't come in. I was completely confused and asked why. He told me my Michigan license "didn't glow" and therefore wasn't real. I explained that I am 30 years old and was presenting a valid Michigan driver's license and legitimate identification. When I politely asked him to explain further, he simply responded, "Because you're trying to get in here with a fake." At that point, I was extremely frustrated and embarrassed. Rather than having a reasonable conversation or using any other method to verify my identity, he dismissed me outright and treated me like I was doing something wrong. I left feeling angry and disappointed. Being turned away as a 30-year-old adult with a valid government-issued ID is unacceptable. If Tiki House is going to reject out-of-state IDs, they need to train their staff on how to properly verify them and update their methods for checking authenticity instead of relying on whether an ID "glows" and turning away legitimate customers. The front-door experience sets the tone for any establishment, and this one was terrible. I traveled a long way expecting a fun Key West experience and was instead met with rude, unprofessional treatment. I would strongly suggest management address how their door staff handle customers and verify identification. read more

The bartender was attentive, engaging and understood we didn't arrive on the boat, we aren't locals to Key West but I'm sure it was obvious to him we can play the part well. He had a full bar which means there were about twenty seated and most were in awe, slammin exotic drinks before the boat's departure, as for me I am thankful I live on island time. We enjoy visiting Tiki bars... they can be tacky and dated, but they usually offer interesting cocktails, a cool vibe, and an interesting story and this one was no exception. Sarah the bartender was EXCELLENT! Very friendly, helpful and did a great job with the cocktails we tried. The place itself doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside is rather spacious and they offer many items on their cocktail menu and a really nice happy hour. We not only enjoyed the Zombie, but also the second round we ordered. Their Zombies are two-for-one during happy hour, which is a pretty nice deal. A long time ago we were in Key West at least once a month and we had our favorite spots to drink. Nowadays we aren't regulars and things have changed and our favorite drinking spots are no more (like The Porch). In a search for new spots, Tiki House came up in a search for unique drinks since that is what I was craving. We arrived and the place was mostly empty with a guy playing guitar and singing some really good music. My husband and i ordered a round of drinks and they were pretty good and the vibe here was good so far. I can't remember what I drank but i do remember it was really good. First, when you walk in, you are hit with a very tropical vibe. The decor is absolutely on theme and so fun! I love how the drinks come in these Tiki glasses. It is very fun. Also, they serve a variety of tropical drinks such as Mai tais and Singapore Slings. I got the Mai Tai. It was great. They definitely don't hold back on the alcohol. The bar tender was super nice and attentive. Since there aren't a boat load of people you can actually have a conversation with him.
