DJ must be open to suggestions before the wedding but not open to taking requests from a line of drunk cousins I barely know during the wedding. 2. DJ must have an extensive and eclectic enough music library to accommodate my father's last minute change of heart regarding which song he wants us to father/daughter dance to. 3. DJ must exhibit an easy going attitude while simultaneously maintaining a real confidence in his ability to play everybody's favorite song at the exact moment that everybody needs to hear it. 4. DJ must be able to cut and loop the instrumental opening to "Diamonds and Pearls" by Prince for my bridal arrival and play Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody" for the bridal party recessional song. No questions asked. 5. A high tolerance for catchy, dance-along songs like the Electric Slide, lasting too long but making everybody extremely happy is a plus. Dion had all of these qualities and more. He exceeded my expectations and reports from the field indicated that everybody heard their song and had a great time. He handled sound for our ceremony and toasts, he played great dinner music, and then rocked the dance party until the venue shut us down. Did I mention that our wedding was in Chicago and because he was on tour he was able to squeeze us in. He travels! He is my favorite DJ, y'all, and he will remain my favorite DJ. If things go the right way, he'll play our 50th wedding anniversary too. Which will also be amazing. Just not as loud.

As children of the eighties/nineties, we were really surprised to hear Dion playing a bunch of our favorites, and the kids were totally into it too. Even though we weren't even engaged yet, we thought, "hey, this guy would be great if we get married; wonder if he does weddings". Once we were engaged, we contacted Dion on Facebook and found out the he does, indeed, do weddings. We checked him out a couple more times at Oaklandish, as well as on Mix Crate, and we still liked what we were hearing, so we hired him. Dion was totally easy to work with, and was willing to drive out to our venue (Kohl Mansion) to get approval, as well as scout out the location. The day of the wedding, he arrived on time and appropriately attired. We didn't have to worry about a thing during the ceremony and reception. Everything ran smoothly, and if anything did go wrong, we had no idea (and we didn't have a wedding coordinator, so we're pretty sure we would have heard). Dion kept the dance floor busy: that was our one stipulation to him. We did not give him a song list, but did tell him our style and a few of our favorite songs. We told him what the crowd would be like, and to just feel them out and keep them moving (after all, that's the whole point of hiring a professional, right?)

Lots of people getting down, and having fun. Tom has a vast selection of music (blues, afro-beat, jazz, soul, brazilian), but was also able to accommodate our selections like Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, and 90's hip hop/pop. Bottom line - our guests were dancing the entire night and had a great time. Even the older folks. Tom brought a separate smaller PA and mics for the ceremony, and played our procession/recession music flawlessly in sequence. For the reception, we provided a few Play/Do Not Play lists as suggestions, and Tom was able to incorporate our tastes and kept the party moving. One thing I really liked is that he didn't feel the need to pump up the crowd and instead let his music do it for him. He was also great about incorporating our friends' requests into the flow he had set up. Tom has a professional, mellow demeanor, and provided a nice calm, collected balance to our fun & frenzied day. He knows what he's doing people! Thanks Tom!!

My husband and I came from very different cultures so we would like to have all kind of music during our wedding. However, both of us do not have a lot of music idea to give it to Guy. After first meeting, we just gave him a rough idea that we would like to have American Pop, Japanese, Taiwanese and Persian music. Guy helped us to find all musics we want and played during the wedding receptions. Our guests were very surprised that they were able to hear so many up-to-date songs from different countries. Our guests say they really enjoyed the music. I also liked the lighting he brought to the reception. It created a fun and party atmosphere. Another strength Guy has is he is able to pronounce ethnic name very well. We had some Chinese, Japanese, and Persian name and he pronounced it perfectly. I am very pleased! :) In addition, I think Guy is very organized and easy to communicate with. He was the best vender among all for my wedding. I recommended him to my friends and I will definitely hire him again.

But it wasn't just the dance floor: He assisted with our ceremony music, our cocktail hour tunes, and turned up the beats when we hit the dance floor - all taking place in different areas of the venue. He was very professional throughout and communicated well with our other vendors. And when it was time to fill up the dance floor he did - and it was filled all night! Looking at the wedding photos of our dance floor it's a tad embarrassing to see most everyone sweating, but that's a testament to Cody's great skills as DJ and getting the crowd hyped! At first we saw that Cody has won awards and worried we couldn't afford him. However, his rates are very reasonable. When we interviewed Cody, we really liked his personality and knew we would also enjoy spending time with him. Our guest loved our wedding, but only raved about two vendors: the florists and the DJ. Cody arrived on time. He set up at multiple locations: the gazebo, the outdoor dinner, and the indoor dance floor. He was very responsive by email and accommodating to our requests. He brought speakers and microphones. Without a DJ we would have had to rent those for our ceremony and toasts. Cody made us feel confident that the music for the ceremony would occur smoothly. We were so happy with him!
