People loved that he led the way, while being totally unassuming and perfectly cool. His setup was pristine and professional looking. Sometime during the dinner, he let us know that he was on it and anything that needed to be done, he would handle it. I thought that he was pretty polite and sweet to offer. There was a little bridal drama about the time we were supposed to have cake cutting, and he handled it. He totally made jokes and transitioned everything so that most guests had no idea. Patrick deserves 5 stars. I have never seen or heard a better DJ. If I ever have another party where I needed a DJ, I wouldn't hesitate to call Patrick. He is so professional. You won't be able to say enough good things - Patrick made us feel like a friend was taking care of us. But a friend who knows how to professionally mix music, handle a crowd and rule a party. We opted for the photo booth and extra lighting. This took the evening to higher level. Patrick made the music planning for our wedding reception an exciting amazing. He wants to help create a fun and exciting party, and he delivers. From our initial talk on the phone, to sitting down with us, coordinating with our venue to rocking the party, he was professional and kind hearted. He listened to our comments, shared his thoughts on what makes a fun and successful party, and he followed through. The lighting changed the restaurant into a whole new space - really just four up lights created a dramatic difference - so much so that restaurant asked for pictures to show their potential clients. There was so much laughter between dressing up for the photo booth pictures and dancing, our guest rarely stayed in their seats after dinner was served. We wanted non-stop fun, even for those who don't dance, and he made it happen. We trusted his musical selections to compliment our taste and to keep the energy flowing. Through the night, all of our favorite songs were played (none -of our do not play list) and there were no gaps in the music. He knows how to emcee as needed, but remained invisible. He was able to get everyone's attention without being annoying, and then he stopped talking - a rare characteristic in a DJ. The sound system was great - I never saw the cords, the volume kept people dancing for hours, but also let others talk at their tables. Wow!! Working with DJ Saint Patrick was one of the best decisions we made in the whole wedding planning adventure. He is super fun and easy to collaborate with and he executed everything perfectly throughout our big day. We had two main priorities: (1) no amateur mistakes / cheesy banter during the MC announcements and (2) an absolutely killer talk-about-it-for-weeks epic dance party to close out the night. Patrick delivered on both fronts, and then some! The planning process was a blast, and really quite genius. Patrick's online planning form subtly nudges you to think through all the details he needs to know to make your event go 100% smoothly. When we met to discuss the form, he gave very useful feedback on the types of things that can lead to glitches in the moment. He's a true professional and knows what works and what doesn't. But he's totally game for indulging your personal whims. We had a few unusual, semi-risky requests and Patrick was on board all the way. ("Oh you want me to gently fade in a Zeppelin song while your unscripted officiant is still talking and then make sure the crescendo hits exactly as you walk back down the aisle? No problem!") Even more impressively, he pulled it all off perfectly! It really felt like Patrick was part of the wedding "team" and we're so grateful for that. He did a lot more than spin great tunes - he gently reminded us about timing when we were inevitably behind schedule, made a seamless transition into the indoor reception area after our outdoor music curfew, and generally helped maintain a "calm, cool, and collected" vibe that helped us relax and enjoy the evening. Patrick is a wonderful wedding DJ. Technically, musically, logistically, personally awesome. He listened carefully when we laid out our vision for the music. He was very organized and helpful about brainstorming songs and artists. Patrick is also just a real pleasure to work with and hang out with. I think we might have lucked out a bit in that he seemed to like our style (Kool & the Gang, Earth Wind & Fire, Black Eyed Peas, Parliament, Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder during the dance time, and Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Marvin Gaye, Elvis, Johnny Cash for the cocktails). But he seems quite flexible -- able to go in much more hard core party and much more conventional wedding directions. At the wedding, his experience, preparation, maturity, confidence, and thoughtfulness shined through. He made all the transitions smoothly, helping move us from one step to the next -- without being obtrusive or rigid. He gently reminded us of the schedule while communicating comfort if we wanted to tweak the plan. We knew that he wouldn't let us inadvertently veer off course, but he was also very attentive to the vibe, so that if something was off-script but working, he could go with it. He navigated the varied tastes of a somewhat diverse and small-ish (67 guests) and not dance-crazy crowd to find the right groove, which got people out on the floor having fun. At one crescendo, he did a freestyle of Word Up that was legendary! People were loving it!!! It was really phenomenal. (And I wouldn't have even picked that song as particularly awesome beforehand -- he just felt out the room, played the song, and then started remixing it in creative ways that appealed to the group.) Shortly after my now husband proposed to me, I had the pleasure of seeing DJ St. Patrick's work at a friend's party. I was on the lookout for a great DJ and relieved that I found one with such ease. When I told Patrick what my idea was for our wedding celebration he was completely willing to help us realize our somewhat offbeat vision for our wedding celebration. Five stars!! DJ St. Patrick performed at our wedding reception on Saturday and created a very comfortable atmosphere for all of our guests throughout the evening. He read the crowd perfectly and was professional from day one. Before our wedding day, Patrick made time to chat with my husband and me on Skype to get to know us, our style, and what we wanted on our wedding day. I think our tastes aren't exactly typical for a wedding reception and he listened carefully and crafted each of the different sections to feel like US. With that, I trust he's very capable of doing any style and taste of party you could ask of him. He had us prepare a list of songs to play and not play and when we walked through our final choices two weeks before the wedding, my husband and I both felt a weight lift because Patrick was so on top of things we knew he would take care of things as soon as we got to the reception. On the day of, he carried himself with a perfect demeanor for the evening. He comes across as a very joyous person and he developed a good rapport with our guests early on in the evening without ever making himself the center of attention. Patrick told us he could also be the emcee for the evening and he gave little pointers at various times to help the crowd know what to do and relieve the burden from our family members of trying to shephard guests throughout the reception. In particular, we told him that while we wanted a first dance, neither of us enjoy the limelight for too long. He guided us to a few suggestions so that we could have our dance but invite our guests to join in half way through which turned out beautifully! Patrick is very easy to work with and really knows how to handle the pre-wedding planning as well as how to create a fantastic party atmosphere. My dad commented this morning that early on in the reception he had spent more time on the dance floor than the past 10 years combined and by the end of the evening, 'records were broken,' and that could be echoed for many of our guests. One of our guests asked if he was a friend of ours because he was so comfortable talking to us when he checked in during the reception. Terrific to work with and such a kind person, too! My partner and I were married May 25th in Healdsburg and our wedding day was even better than we could have possibly imagined. Patrick's presence, skills and demeanor throughout the day had a lot to do with it. Our group of friends are music junkies as are we, so we had various playlists and they had to be perfect... for Arrival music, Cocktail hour, Dinner, Cake Cutting, Reception and SendOff. He nailed it. Beyond that, we had a couple wireless mics set up for our ceremony singers and officiant. Needless to say, there were quite a few technical set ups (for 3 separate areas on site) and logistical details to manage and Patrick did it with the greatest of ease. We didn't have a wedding coordinator... so his timing and grace throughout the day, as well as his perfectly-played announcements made the day flow so seamlessly. But let's get to the reception... because the music was poppin' so hard it was absolutely unforgettable. At one point in the evening, our crew was dancing so hard I thought we were going to blow the roof off the place. The energy and music built to the perfect crescendo to end the evening. I was sore for 3 days after the wedding from dancing so hard. And I'm in shape. :-) I want to do it all over again. Every weekend. But since we can't, we'll just have to find a reason to grab a beer with Patrick every now and then. Because beyond how great of a DJ he is, he's an even better, regular good guy. When it comes to costs, DJ Patrick is fair and you get your money's worth. If you're specific about your music, it can be time consuming pulling lists and songs together, but you get out of it what you put in. And when it comes time to celebrate your big day, Patrick knows how to mix it all up and help you lose yourself to dance! We received MANY compliments how that that was the best dance party ever. 1.5 stars: 1 star for my experience and 0.5 stars for his apology. To say I was disappointed with my experience with Patrick would be an understatement. I was shopping around for a good wedding DJ, asked if he could offer a discount (since my wedding is going to be in the off season) to which he graciously obliged, we had a few correspondences via email and phone and then I decided to call him to resolve some final questions I had before moving forward. Somewhere in that conversation, we grossly miscommunicated and the tension level rose dramatically and he began answering my questions with a lot of attitude. He said he felt like I was attacking his work and that my questions weren't making sense. I told him I wasn't and just didn't understand what he was saying and that his attitude was completely uncalled for. I became really angry with his tone and that anger resulted in crying! He apologized, but I was so upset that I couldn't continue our conversation. We corresponded a few times afterwards via email and I called him out of on his behavior saying I'm a prospective client looking to pay him for a service and was seeking answers. Even if my questions didn't make sense (according to him), he should remain professional and seek to understand and answer, instead of becoming defensive. After all, I am an amateur and he is the expert. My questions were meant to clarify, not antagonize. I told him I was holding myself back from writing a horrible review about him in the heat of the moment (now that the steam has died down, this review is an accurate account of what happened) and he told me he wouldn't try to stop me from reviewing him (I would have written a review regardless), but keep in mind that his grandfather recently passed away. He said our conversation made him realize that his grandfather's passing affected him more than he thought. I'm not heartless. I feel bad that his grandfather passed away, but that's no excuse to be a jerk (I wouldn't care if he was the best DJ in the world). Part of me wanted to give him a second chance and put that awkward experience behind me, but after consulting with several good friends, everyone recommended I go with another DJ because our relationship has irreparable damage. So, that is what I have done. I know he apologized, but planning a wedding is stressful enough without having to deal with vendors who patronize you for your lack of knowledge in a particular area. I'd rather work with someone who consistently maintains a professional demeanor and doesn't make me angry to the point of crying! You live and you learn right? Both for myself (I'm hiring a DJ I really mesh with and who is patient in answering my questions) and for Patrick because he will be more aware of how he treats his potential clients. This review is long overdue! No need to look anywhere else for a DJ for your wedding, party, etc. My husband and I worked with DJ Saint Patrick and we are SO glad we did! He came highly recommended from a friend of mine who got married about a year ago now in Napa. I trusted her judgment and am so glad I did. Patrick is incredibly professional yet, really laid back and easy to work with as well. The planning process was so easy- he really helps you figure out what you want your music selection to be. He was always very accessible whenever I had any questions during the planning process. The day of our wedding was amazing- exactly as we had imagined! Patrick mic'd us for our ceremony and did our ceremony music as well. I'll never forget how calming he was before the ceremony began- very sweet. My Maid of Honor even told me that when he handed her the mic before her speech, he was so calming when he talked to her and it made her feel better - calmed her nerves. To this day, we still get comments from our friends and family about our DJ and how great the mix of music was. EVERYONE danced at our wedding- literally not one song went by that the dance floor wasn't completely full! We had a blast and were so happy that everyone else was feeling the music as much as we were! I've had several people ask me for our entire playlist from everything from our ceremony to reception. A few weeks later, we received a package from Patrick with a disc of music he had put together for us. My wife and I got married on March 5th, 2016 in Mill Valley, the weekend of the big El Niño storm. We were really pushing to have an outdoor ceremony even if it rained a little. When we found Patrick online, he came over to our house to meet with us and the 3 of us immediately clicked. To us, that was the most important part of our decision. The people you hire for your wedding will be spending time with you during some of the most intimate moments of your life. You're basically inviting a stranger to your wedding, and we wanted to make sure that every person present brought good energy to the day. My husband and I like music and Patrick gave us the option of choosing lists of specific songs - we could have gotten very specific and I think Patrick would have worked with us that way. Instead, we decided to let him do what he's the expert in. We told him we wanted people dancing all night. DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO KEEP THEM DANCING! He did. People were dancing earlier than we had even planned and we had to ask people to get off the dance floor so we could do our "first" dance (even though we were already sweaty from dancing). Throughout the evening, he somehow knew exactly how to keep people moving. Not only did Patrick keep the energy sky high during our reception, he provided counsel for the wedding planning process and insight to areas we hadn't thought of. He provided a sound system (microphone, speakers, etc...) for our ceremony officiant and ceremony guitarist. He assisted the cocktail hour band (an old time New Orleans Jazz Band) in set-up and their electrical and sound needs. He played THE BEST dinner music mix I've ever heard at a wedding. And, when we asked him if he could bring a SECOND setup for our after-party at the lodge's bar, he happily obliged. Throughout the evening, he went above and beyond what I would expect of a DJ - coordinating with the caterers and my day-of-coordinator (who was awful) to keep things running smoothly and on schedule. When we booked Patrick, we thought we had booked him for too long. In fact, he kept everyone so happy that we spontaneously asked him to stay an extra hour. He even brought a fog machine and some strobe lights for our late night party - He made it feel like our own private night club. Most of all, Patrick felt like a natural part of our day and everyone who came in contact with him was happy to have him around. As a bride, that's about the best thing you can hope for in a vendor. Patrick was a great DJ for our wedding last February. He was super helpful leading up to the event in terms of general knowledge around wedding 'flow.' He came a long way to check out the venue with us beforehand and was quite creative in finding a way to make everything work. (We didn't get married at a wedding typical venue). He was really open as far as gathering our musical tastes for us, was helpful in suggestions, and put a lot of effort into making it exactly what we wanted while also providing great music for a variety of helpful. To be honest, I was thinking of the ipod treatment for our wedding; I was not really looking forward to having a big campy DJ hog the spotlight. Our parents insisted, and I am really glad that they did, because we found Patrick and he was amazing. He was professional and chill, while really listening to the kind of event my husband and I envisioned for our reception. He set an the perfect vibe and maintained a nice flow of events all while keeping very inconspicuous. Plus, he was able to blend my husband's and my eclectic tastes into a mix that kept the whole party on their feet, without offending their Catholic sensibilities. He is professional, charming, and most importantly - not cheesy. I hired Patrick to DJ a 20 anniversary PROM party this summer. He was amazing. He had the whole party dancing until they threw us out of the place. DJ Saint Patrick and his entire crew are awesome!! He was already booked for our wedding date but he hooked us up with one of his DJs and coordinated the whole thing. We got the premire package which included a DJ, uplighting, guitarist, and photobooth. We went through him for all of our questions and he was very easy to contact and if we emailed he would respond right away. He was extreemely helpful and his entire staff is amazing! Our wedding was a blast and the music from the ceremony guitar music to the Dj was the best. The uplights set the mood perfectly, and the photobooth kept our guests entertained all night! HANDS DOWN THE BEST DJ EVER! We hired DJ Saint Patrick for our Lake Tahoe based wedding recommended by our wedding coordinator. From the moment we exchanged our initial emails, DJ Saint Patrick and his assistant were extremely professional, organized and easy to work with. DJ Saint Patrick setup a call with us just to understand our style, expectations and just to get to know us a bit. If we lived closer to his area, we would have met up; however, distance and time just didn't permit. But it just shows that he really wants to understand the couple to make sure he delivers the best performance possible. After providing us with a planning tool for choosing and assigning music, we had a follow-up call to ensure no details were missed and answer any outstanding questions. This was very helpful considering we had some Polish influence in our music and he wanted to make sure he was able to deliver what we specifically requested - and he did! The day of the wedding, DJ Saint Patrick didn't miss a beat (no pun intended). From the processional music, to the reggae cocktail hour and throughout the ENTIRE evening, our dance floor was PACKED. Not once was there bare space on the dance floor. He knows how to keep the dance floor full and our guests wouldn't stop raving about how much fun they had dancing. I knew we had picked the perfect DJ when I made a last second decision during the Father/Daughter dance to throw in a surprise "Gangnam Style" ending to our dance. Not joking, seconds before our Father/Daughter dance I threw him the curve ball and walked up quietly asking if he could play a portion of the song right at the end of the dance as a joke and he didn't hesitate!
