He has been renovating and making updates over the past couple of years. This marina is clean and offers floating docks, an on-site bar that happened to have live music while we were there (the old Lyar's), a ship's store, fuel dock, laundry, ice, etc. We had many choices of marinas to stay at but this one topped our list when we saw how much work has been done to the place. I'm happy we selected this place. For the price point, you get a lot for your money. We will definitely be back again! Thank you George for your hospitality!

They just loved the pool and crabbing off the dock. We try to cruise to SIYC every year Well this year we were back, and our 25 year old twins joined us. It was Just as clean friendly and lovely. However, our favorite snack bar was a HUGE disappointment. We could not get over the pricing. It was more expensive than the bouche Montauk Yacht Club. Mixed drink at SIYC $22, MYC same drink $17. Bacon egg and cheese sandwich $18 . A kids hot dog $18. Said something to the staff and they were sad about it too; it is not nearly as busy because of prices. We usually don't care, but a $22 Captain and Coke in a small glass...just couldn't do it. So we stayed away and we were disappointed about not being able to enjoy a meal and drink there...it changed the whole experience, We will dock somewhere else next time we visit Montauk. We will not mention the dockage fee. That was crazy high too, I get that, but an $18 egg sandwich?

On Tuesday Morning (the day we planned to arrive) we…read morechecked the weather and tropical storm Fay was approaching Long Island and the Ocean Conditions were expected to be very rough along with heavy rain on Friday and Saturday. For safety reasons we needed to cancel. I knew I would lose my Deposit from my initial reservation back from January 22 of $195. We had 4 boats traveling together. The Montauk Boat Basin charged us the full amount of the trip plus the deposit stating that the Weather was not poor enough to give a full refund. No alternatives or options were provided. Fire Island Ferry cancelled trips on Friday in the bay because of conditions Due To Tropical Storm Fay - July 10th. There were also a small craft advisory for the route home. Fire Island Inlet NY to Moriches Inlet NY out 20 nm- 4:37 AM EDT Sat Jul 11 2020 SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. TODAYS winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 6 to 8 ft. Slight chance of showers early this morning. I guess you would need it to be a Hurricane for the weather conditions to be considered poor enough for marine travel to be dangerous. I am sure it is a beautiful place but we needed to make a decision based on the safety of our passengers and boats. This was the response to My question via email: from Montauk Marine Basin: My policy applies to the entire stay similar a hotel stay. I have a full marina and i blocked off those slips for Four boats and turned other boats away. The weather was not poor enough to give a full refund. I am sorry that you interpreted my policy that way. You canceled the day of the start of your stay I'm sorry, but I will not be giving you a refund. If the Montauk Boat Basin is willing to work with us I would retract this review but I had made every effort to no avail at this point of time.
