Bacon egg and cheese sandwich $18 . A kids hot dog $18. Said something to the staff and they were sad about it too; it is not nearly as busy because of prices. We usually don't care, but a $22 Captain and Coke in a small glass...just couldn't do it. So we stayed away and we were disappointed about not being able to enjoy a meal and drink there...it changed the whole experience, We will dock somewhere else next time we visit Montauk. We will not mention the dockage fee. That was crazy high too, I get that, but an $18 egg sandwich?

For safety reasons we needed to cancel. I knew I would lose my Deposit from my initial reservation back from January 22 of $195. We had 4 boats traveling together. The Montauk Boat Basin charged us the full amount of the trip plus the deposit stating that the Weather was not poor enough to give a full refund. No alternatives or options were provided. Fire Island Ferry cancelled trips on Friday in the bay because of conditions Due To Tropical Storm Fay - July 10th. There were also a small craft advisory for the route home. Fire Island Inlet NY to Moriches Inlet NY out 20 nm- 4:37 AM EDT Sat Jul 11 2020 SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. TODAYS winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 6 to 8 ft. Slight chance of showers early this morning. I guess you would need it to be a Hurricane for the weather conditions to be considered poor enough for marine travel to be dangerous. I am sure it is a beautiful place but we needed to make a decision based on the safety of our passengers and boats. This was the response to My question via email: from Montauk Marine Basin: My policy applies to the entire stay similar a hotel stay. I have a full marina and i blocked off those slips for Four boats and turned other boats away. The weather was not poor enough to give a full refund. I am sorry that you interpreted my policy that way. You canceled the day of the start of your stay I'm sorry, but I will not be giving you a refund. If the Montauk Boat Basin is willing to work with us I would retract this review but I had made every effort to no avail at this point of time.

Me and a group of 9 went on the lady grace with captain Mario and Joe yesterday, and had an unreal time. Luckily we had the sun shining, 70° weather but joe and the captain were great! They give you 5 hours but we ended up catching so many fish that after 3 and a half hours we were ready to head back. If you get seasick easily take some anti nausea before hand and you'll be good! Highly recommend the Lady Grace! Thanks guys read more

There are three marinas on the pond, The Boat Basin (401) 466-2631, Champlin's Marina (800) 762-4541 and Payne's dock. The harbor has mandatory pump out and this service is provided for free by the town through the harbormaster. Moorings are available on a "first come, first serve" basis. There is also an area where boats can drop anchor. To the north is the recreational area; boats cannot drop anchor in this area. Kayak rentals, paddleboard rentals, boat rentals and a boat launch are all available in the pond. There are a couple of hotels (Champlin's Marina and The Narragansett Inn) on the harbor as well as a few restaurants.

The walk to the beach is easy, quick, & gorgeous with lucious nature on all sides. The rocks on the beach are remarkable & well worth taking note of. So many unique shapes & colors. I spotted some of the roundest rocks I've ever seen in my life - Perfect egg shapes & disc shapes. Continuing back on the main path will lead you through a surreal field of rippling, golden, tall grass & to a vantage point where the bluffs are visible. Take caution! Erosion is real & so is the danger of tumbling down the bluffs. Give the edge more space than you might give a super solid cliff. Lastly but certainly not least - L.N.T. Leave No Trace! Protect this beautiful nature sanctuary & the rugged beauty of Block Island.

The trail was a bit overgrown which is a shame. One of my friends had a branch that accidentally hit her in the face, and my other friend lost her footing at one point. Although there were signs along the edge, warning hikers to not get too close because of the dangerous erosion, I could see kids testing that theory. At the midpoint, the trail features a unique tree and views of the ocean where you can easily see the wind farms and ferry. I'd give it 5 stars if the trail was better groomed.
