    Burger time!
    Ellen S.

How, oh how did I never got a Ricks burger in the 14 years that I have lived in Dublin? What's wrong with me? This was one damn fine cheese burger, and checking in at only 6 euro. Things got a bit messy though as my burger was drowned in ketchup and mayo. My burger started to fall apart half way through due to all those sauces. But...after a few pints...and not having had any substantial to eat all day, I can tell you this burger was almost like a gift from God!

Step in the door anytime after midnight on a weekend night and Rick's will be hopping. It is perfectly positioned to soak up late night revellers spilling out of the city centre's pubs and clubs. It is a smooth operation and staff members have cleverly equipped themselves with a 'number allocation system' and a microphone to bring order to the frightening drunken mass that descends on them at the witching hour. Friendly chat is guaranteed and the odd sing-song may occur - I was once treated to a startlingly accurate rendition of "oh, bodyform. Bodyform for you...." (remember the ad) by a determined karaoke king who grabbed the mic from an unsuspecting employee! As the name might suggest, burgers are a popular choice. They look homemade, meaty and hearty but I opt for the garlic-cheese chips every time. I can definitely vouch for them at 3am, it might be a different story in the cold light of day. The décor is shiny and diner-esque. You may find the bright lights a little too much after a few pints in a dark corner but you can hardly blame Rick's for that!

    Fried mushrooms and cheese fries!

There's nothing like Rick's after a night out. Must have's are the burger, the fried mushrooms and the cheese fries. It's junk food but it always tastes fresh. The garlic dipping sauce is to die for! It's almost like garlicky sour cream. They grate the cheese fresh. It get's pretty packed after the bars close but it's super slow in the afternoon.

Rick's Burger harks back to a simpler time when to be called a burger it didn't need to be harrisa spiced, smothered with marmalade, sandwiched between a brioche roll and impaled with a wooden skewer. Rick's is a fast food joint that serves tasty classic burgers, it's simple menu means you won't be long choosing what to have. The burgers are how I imagine joints in 50's America, they are super tasty and the meat seems to be of a good quality. A meal (incl chips and drink) comes to €7 to €9 and the chips are very good. As far as fast food burger joints go, I'm a fan of this one!

So let me start with the positive about this place, the burger I had was absolutely delicious and pretty reasonably priced being under 10 euro. Also the garlic fries were yummy, the bad in short is that it took me a really long time to get to those fries. I substituted regular fries for cheese fries with garlic and paid an extra €2 for it although was disappointed to find the cheese didn't come melted. I asked them to melt it on it and the woman got obviously upset and said they don't have a microwave. I asked her if she could just set it under the heat lamp for the fries to at least soften it and she agreed. She then did not do so (I could see from where I was sitting) and she brought them back, I apologized and politely asked if she she was unable to melt it if I could just have fries without cheese and she was visibly angry having rolled her eyes at myself and my friend before chucking them in the garbage with a fair amount of force. She continued to glare at us and stare while we ate and it was really uncomfortable. When we went to leave and I returned the trays I asked what her name was to which she responded "why?" before she then just said no, clearly because she knew I was going to complain to the owner or write a review due to her outlandish behavior. All in all, the good was great, but definitely not worth the way you're treated to get it. I will never be back to this place and I urge others to avoid it, there are plenty of places in Dublin where you can get great food without sacrificing service.

Chicken burger was dry, chewy and the condiments were sloppily put on. The chips were shrivelled. Awful.

The burgers there are sooo good, probably the best burgers in Dublin, it's amazing that more people don't eat in there when they're sober.

I would highly recommend Bunsen Burgers. Very friendly staff and quick service. We sat on the patio and it was a beautiful day, quiet, easy to have a conversation between the four of us. During our research before we left we saw a video talking about Bunsen. Just seeing the high quality of the ingredients made it one of our must try stops in Dublin. As we do when traveling, we start and end the day eating throughout the day. We popped into Bunsen to finally try the legendary burger around 4:30 pm. Because we were there at such an odd hour, we were the only people there. When you visit Ireland, the pub culture is real and most pubs start to get quite busy around 5:30 pm. Since Bunsen isn't a pub and wasn't located in a particularly touristy area , it didn't surprise me they were empty at that time of day. What stuck out the most at first was the super friendly service right from the door. We were sat at a small banquet of tables against the wall and checked out the menu from QR code link on the table. We were there for their original burger so that is what we ordered. No sides and water to drink. I couldn't be filling up too much yet. It was pretty early after all and we had a lot of places to stop yet. The menu isn't huge. They focus on doing one thing well and keep it at that. I like a restaurant that doesn't try to be everything. Our burger came out within 10 min and it was juicy, hot and fresh. Presented beautifully wrapped. We shared this one burger because, we knew we had lots of food to eat later. Immediately after eating the last bite I wanted to order another. It was really that good. Such perfection! This will be the burger I compare all others in Ireland to.

The location is amazing, right by Dublin castle, temple bar, and river liffey. The restaurant is small but the tables are big. Food is always great! This is my second time here and I love the chicken shish, beef koobideh, and beef shish. It's a bit of a fusion place, as for a side you get hummus or tzatziki which aren't Persian, but it works well, and I'm sure it's great for non Persian people who may be more familiar with those items than more traditional cuisine. The prices can't be beat either. Such a good bang for your buck in the city.

We came across Zaytoon and wanted to give them a try. The ambiance was nice. It had a nice cafe feel. Plenty of booths, tables and spots to plug in and charge a phone. What blew me away was the hospitality! The staff were all extremely friendly! They wanted to give us a sample of everything! After the meal, we checked out the dessert menu. When we mentioned liking the ice cream they offered a sample, then a full portion! The meal was perfect too! We both got the chicken kabobs and accompaniments. It was so fresh and delicious! The freshness of the produce and meats here is next level! The mango ice cream at the end was a wonderful way to end the meal. I'm not sure if this is a chain or a mom and pop, but it definitely gave the feel of a stand alone restaurant.

The family-style menu also came with hummus, tzatziki, a spicy chili sauce, salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, red onion, pickled red cabbage), and freshly-baked rounds of taftoon flatbread. Overall, everything we tried was flavorful, healthy, and came at a reasonable price for the quality of food!
