Ricky's Cuban restaurant is a small venue. There's about eight tables inside and one or two outside on the veranda. I ordered a Cuban sandwich ($9.95) and fries ($2.95). The sandwich is ordinary it did not live up to the Cuban sandwiches that I've had in Tampa and St. Petersburg. Table service was excellent. My first visit to Ricky's is a huge thumbs up! Stopped by for breakfast. The egg, cheese and chorizo sandwich I ordered on Cuban bread was made fresh and deliciously perfect. I also enjoyed Ricky's Black beans and yellow rice. Everything made fresh. No left overs or dried out rice. Finally I added a stuffed potato and cafe con leche. Great little spot to have have breakfast. I had the egg/bacon/cheese sandwich. Our server was friendly and attentive. Downside was that their iced tea is from a fountain and not fresh made. Just moved to Tampa from Miami and I have been looking for my go to Cuban Spot. Rickys never disappoints, the food is delicious and the service is great. Despite the last experience I went in with an open mind. Glad I did as I didn't leave disappointed. Greeted by smiling faces when we went in and was shown to a table. Service was fast and friendly. We all ordered the Cuban, my daughter and I shared 1 since they are big. She also got a side fries and I got a side potato ball. Everything was hot and fresh when arrived at the table and the food was actually very tasteful and delicious. We came by the weekend of the Lutz Craft show for a quick breakfast. We ordered at the counter and were told they would bring it to us. Our cuban toast took a bit of time. I saw them make several orders at the counter so I think they forgot about our toast. The table beside us must have been regulars as they comments also. I'd seen it several times on the way home from work, Ricky's Cuban Restaurant that is, I was craving a good cafe con leche and decided to stop. I had a question going through my mind as I sipped my amazing cafe con leche ( a cultural staple in Tampa) , why hadn't I come here before? The smell of delicious and fresh Cuban food cooking hits you walking in the door. I had a Cuban tamale - a nice cornbread delight with mojo pork inside bursting with flavor and a potato ball. The potato ball was fried and crispy on the outside and the knife easily cut through this through the potato into the meaty center. It was a delight to all senses. In short Ricky's is an excellent taste of Cuban cuisine. I look forward to going back soon. Their staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The Cuban sandwich was very good. The pulled pork was dry, no sauce or juices on it. The fried steak could have been good but the oil was old. Not convinced they are changing the Fryer oil twice a week. The black beans were my biggest disappointment. Growing uo in the keys, Cubans make good black beans. These were so bland. Maybe they forgot seasoning in the batch. I would only recommend the Cuban sandwich for lunch or dinner. Won't be trying breakfast considering our 50 dollar dinner was a disappointment. read more

This place serves authentic Cuban food, for a really cheap price. It's counter service, which is really fast and easy. The Cuban sandwiches are really good and so are the deviled crabs. The place is closed on Sundays, which is kind of a bummer. Everything is made to order, and I don't think any of the items on the menu, including dinner items are more than 11.00. Been here once and what a shit show. I order a devil crab and I understand you have to cook it. While waiting, the staff up front were cutting some stuff. The lady dropped her knive on the floor and did not take time to wash and sanitize the knife. And then continue to use it. Then the cook came out of the back. He went in to the restaurant wearing his apron and his towel in his pocket. He was in there a while and when he came back wearing his apron and towel hang out. My daughter had surgery at Trinity hospital while she was in surgery I was looking for a good Cuban place with a good chicken soup, so I read the reviews and they were all good. I'm glad we tried this place, my son went to get her the chicken soup and she says it was the best!
