They also have pulled pork, chicken, lamb, black beans and the rest of the traditional dishes. Their empanadas are very good as well as their pressed breakfast sandwiches. It's all very tasty! Trying to find a great sandwich shop in Lutz on a Sunday isn't easy, but thanks to Yelp I found The Latin spot. First and foremost, it's a market with all kinds of Latin food items, produce and cold drinks. It also has a Deli and butcher shop, which was why we came. They have some sundries as well, shampoo, soap ,and other such products, i didn't pay too much attention. They even have Colombian food products! My focus was the Food they make in the back, namely Cuban sandwiches. Being a Tampa native and spending a great deal of my youth in Ybor city working and playing, I have a high standard for Cuban sandwiches. I must say this is one of the best cubans i have had outside of the Ybor City area. It was hot pressed and you can customize your toppings for a non traditional cuban, I added Mayo along with mustard and pickle. Blasphemy! It was great, hot toasty cuban bread housing a big portion of meat and cheese at a good price. They have hot foods ready to eat like yellow rice and black beans, red beans, and other Latin favorites. It all smelled wonderful. Upon smelling the food i also ordered the black beans and yellow rice and they drizzled it with juice from the beans. It was a huge portion for only $3.99. The flavor was there, and texture was right on point. My friend got Plaintains also and she thought they were under cooked, but i thought they were just fine. I noticed an espresso machine and i found myself unable to go without a café con Leche. I was rewarded with a piping hot delicious coffee that had me wired in no time. All of this food and drink in my belly made for a great Sunday afternoon. There is outdoor and indoor seating for enjoying your food right on the spot. We found this to bring breakfast to the fam. We were a big order and disrupted their flow, we get that. While some confusion caused some errors, we were treated so well and with clear appreciation while they fixed it all. They made sure we got what we needed and sent us off with delicious omelettes, tasty Cuban breakfast sandwiches and divine cafe con leche. When back in town, they will be a go to place. Parking out front is limited but the turnover rate is fairly quick. A good hole in the wall lunch spot. The food is located to the right in the back and groceries are to the left. You also pay for your food at the register in the front. They have daily specials and the portions are not only generous but inexpensive. There's seating inside so you can dine in should you choose. I got the goat with rice and maduros. The maduros hit the spot. I had to resist ordering empanadas too because my feasting eyes were bigger than my stomach. I was so full from my meal I took half home and didn't have room for the guava pastelitos I was eyeing for dessert. The colada was a perfect pick me up for after lunch and all my co-workers enjoyed it when I brought some. So definitely a good value for lunch or for your afternoon coffee. Ordered UberEats for my entire family and the only thing they sent correctly was the meat. All of the sides were substituted without even attempting to call us. If I could give it 0 stars I would. First of all, I'll start with the fact that I'm Dominican so I know what a Tripleta is supposed to be like. I ordered one for breakfast off Uber Eats. One taste of the mangu and it was disgusting. Tasted like nothing but old nasty oil. It completely ruined my appetite. When I tried the salami I noticed it wasn't even salami. It was regular ham cut into pieces and fried like salami. I'm so confused by this experience. Like why?? Converted gas station into a small mini-mart with a kitchen in the back and small dinning area. Very tasty comida Dominicana. We ate lechón with gandules negros and yuca. Their menu varies from day to day. Also great prices ($5.99 for pork and $7.99 for beef). They also have an assortment of drinks to pick from (soda from just about anywhere in the Americas: Colombia, Jamaica, Brazil). Maybe I'm going at the wrong times. People seem to be giving this place raving reviews. I've been there three times. I can say that when they have picadillo, it is good; when the chicken is fresh, it's good. I do not care for the Cuban sandwich one bit as it had packaged ham and dry pork. Their version of "all the way" added tomato and squirted mayonnaise and mustard on top of the meat, not even on the bread, it was on the meat. The rice is very undercooked and I have to scrape it out of the box put it in a tupperware add some water and heat in the microwave till it's completely done. I will say that the service is friendly. The prices aren't great, but they are fair, they do have a grocery-store with a meat market. The food on the shelves and the meat in the deli counter looks fresh and they do have Latin products. It could be worth shopping for Latin specialty items. Eat the prepared food at your own discretion. read more
