I decided to round up because I thought they did a pretty good job with the hand they were dealt. We called in an order for pick up Saturday at lunch time. When we arrived 15 minutes later to pick up there was a little trouble with their card machine that nobody knew how to fix. I heard two employees discussing that they didn't even have a phone number to call for the machine in question. Luckily they got another register to work. On that note I believe they also said there was a small discount for paying with cash instead of card. I had only walked in with my phone and card, but wouldn't have had a problem going back to the hotel to get some cash if they couldn't figure it out. Turns out their manager had quit on Wednesday and there wasn't an assistant manager or anyone else trained on fixing system issues. Considering they were probably making adjustments on schedules and tasks as they went, without any guidance from a manager, I think they did a pretty great job! The phone etiquette and in person etiquette was on point. I found the food okay, but again, I think they were doing a great job dealing with an unusual situation for a restaurant. The chips were a tad stale and I found the salsa and queso to be a bit watery for my taste. The flavor of both was fine, nothing too special but fit the bill. Overall my torta was okay, I wasn't a fan of the frequent chunks of stringy and fatty meat throughout the beef fajita they used, but that won't bother everyone. The veggies were fresh and the bread was passable. I would order something different next time. My husbands enchilada special was the clear winner. They accommodated him getting one beef, one chicken and one guacamole enchilada instead of 3 of the same. He got it with queso on the side and felt everything was high quality. I had a few bites of his meal (wife tax) and I would have to agree. The beef was well seasoned and clear of any grit, the rice was well cooked and the beans were pretty good. He didn't save any of the guacamole enchilada for me to try (just selfish) but the avocado on my torta was extremely good so I think I know why that was the first enchilada to disappear. Sometimes you just order the wrong item for your taste and sometimes a restaurant is having an off day. Based off my husbands meal and the friendly staff I would definitely return and try other items on the menu. You may need to exhibit patience since they are clearly in a transition period; nobody really knows how long that will take until they fill the gaps and establish their team dynamic.

Bottom line is the service. Food is good but waiting like we were in Rome for a 2 hour dinner…read moreservice is just not ok. Watched 2 families just leave. Our waiter made multiple mistakes and just never returned towards the end. Will probably be awhile until I go back.

An unexpected gem in the rough…read more Look, I love hole in the walls, and yes... there are places I judge solely on the "look" of places, but even I know you can't judge a book by its cover. I found myself in Gainesville... not a place I typically go on a daily basis. I needed to grab a bite, I needed to do it quickly, and fast food was just not going to work for me... Driving around I passed this place 2x times before finally giving up and saying to myself... "ugh... ok let's try it". Glad I did. They welcomed me in as if I was a regular there, someone that they see all the time. Not special in the slightest but also not a stranger in the least bit. It was comforting... homely... nice. The nice waitress provided me a menu, asked if I wanted a drink and brought over a basket of chips and salsa, both fresh and delicious. Found my way to the enchiladas and crossed my fingers. Within a few chips and minutes my plate arrived. Decently portioned and hot. Initial thoughts were "man, I'm hungry" and "that came quick!". It did not disappoint. Have I had better? You bet I have... was this good? Well... I finished it without complaint. Decent food, clean and welcoming, good price and a place anyone would be proud to say "I go to Mi Casa for Mexican food". Try'em... you may just be surprised.

It's rare to find people who combine professionalism with such a personal touch. On top of that, the food is outstanding, the jalapeño poppers, brisket enchiladas, and chili rancheros are especially delicious. I would confidently recommend them to anyone.

It is a neat place inside but that doesn't overcome the shortcomings. I had Mexican food many times in the last couple days so I opted for the jalapeño peach pork chop. It was honestly tougher than leather- I really needed a sawsall to cut it. The flavor was fine. I knew I was in trouble when it arrived with a couple Libby's peaches fresh from the can sitting on the pork chop. My sides were tasteless mashed potatoes and steamed, mushy veggies. Chips and salsa, average. Queso with flavorless ground beef, average. My son had the birria tacos which were good. Not great by any stretch- it wasn't a traditional recipe and didn't have the traditional Oaxaca cheese. They used cheddar or another orange cheese. He said "good", I will call them "average": He ate all of the rice so it must have been decent. I didn't try a margarita but the ones I saw looked pretty typical for such a place big glass and probably average. I wouldn't eat here again. $50 for 2, no alcohol and I had water. We did get an order of Queso. There has to be better Mexican places than this nearby.
