Food is terrible. Our waitress was nice but the food tasted so bad neither my husband or I or our 2 toddlers finished even half of our food. My husbands chimichanga has a weird dirty taste to it and I got the nachos and all my chips were burned with the edges chard black. The salsa tastes like canned tomatoes and water. Cute little restaurant in Gainesville. Some tables, some booths and an interesting assortment of things on the wall to look at. Chips and hot sauce were below average. Tonight we had fajitas (beef and chicken) for 2. We got 6 tortillas and we each got our own plate of beans, rice, guacamole and pico. Loved the guacamole and the beans. Yes, the beans were A+. The flour tortillas were a bit thin. The beef had a wonderful flavor but the pieces were very small and there really should have been more. The chicken was chicken, nothing special. Not sure why the menu said $22.99 and the cost was actually $23.49 (Didn't catch that till after we left). Service was somewhat slow and we were not given the extra napkins we asked for. Have been eating here for quite a few years but not as much lately due to Serna's opening. The food is good but not off the charts. I don't like the salsa as much as I remebered in the past, but at least they don't charge for it like serna's. I usually get the steak ranchero or the steak fajitas and its pretty consistent. Serna's is better overall but Los mariachis is still 2nd best for set down Mexican food in Gainesville. read more

The atmosphere is super laid-back and it has a small town vibe. The best service I've gotten has been in big groups like rehearsal dinners and birthdays. The staff is always friendly, though. I stick to the tacos al carbon or the steak quesadillas, but the fajitas and burritos are also worth a try! Overall, this place is fine. If it looks too crowded and you can't find parking out back within 20 seconds, just head to one of the two El Tapatios locations in town instead. read more

Received the menu and asked the waitress if they had chorizo as I didn't see it on the menu, she looked at me like a deer in the headlights. To her credit she brought over someone that told me they did not. Salsa is very subjective, in my opinion it is mediocre. Ordered the enchiladas with chili and I found the chili a little bitter. The tortillas were not as soft as expected. Rice and beans mediocre, not much flavor. I tasted their pork chops, nothing to rave about. Overall just mediocre, prefer El Tapatio. Someone ordered the fajitas at another table and the smoke was overwhelming! Came out smelling like I had made the fajitas myself, ugh! read more

Tried Mariachi's first time last night. Four of us all agreed TexMex was good. Salsa was tasty: tomatoey, not spicy, no cilantro. Queso was not a hit, too plain. But the chicken fajitas and the rice, beans and guacamole were delicious. Son had beef and cheese nachos which he really enjoyed. Daughter had beef taco salad and liked it. We met the 20 year owner, Martha, who was very welcoming to us. Mariachi's is in an old building downtown, is quite large and has a lot of character. We will be back. read more

The food was awful. I had the carne asada and asked for corn tortillas, instead got flour. My boyfriend asked for Dos Equis Lager, got amber. Minor things that can be fixed but the quality of the food was not good at all. Runny queso with no flavor and watery salsa. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

The Salsa tasted like plastic, and the Texacano Plate had three enchiladas and a taco, the cheese was gummy,the chicken drowned in red sauce and the beef was nothing special. Piss poor service. They seat a table of 5 at a small table for 4 when there are 2 small empty tables right next to each other. Once you are seated it takes at least 5 minutes to get your drinks. Went back for fajitas on my birthday..still my favorite fajitas and salsa in Gainesville. Maybe its because I grew up eating at Antonios and the salsa here is pretty much the same. I will say that Zuna's in Lindsay has the same salsa and the fajitas are very good there too...plus they have one thing that is really missing at Los Mariachis....good service.
