    Rico's Taco Cafe

Rico's Taco Cafe is an authentic Mexican taco truck where you can get high-quality eats and really enjoy the culture. I love popping in here to sample the tacos and the service is fast and friendly each time! The carnitas tacos are definitely a favorite of mine, but I've yet to be disappointed in any of their options. They have a covered seating area also refreshments if your thirsty. They have something sure to please every palate so come check them out!

Very good food here. I got the steak quesadilla and it was great. Extremely nice people working here at this truck, and there's very little wait time. Adequate outdoor seating with weather protection set up as well.

Yelp category allows for 'Food Truck', I felt compelled to Add Category of Mexican restaurant, only to qualify the type of food truck. Moving on -- I'm rather sure a upset a few motorists after having blown past Rico's, catching a corner eye peek and turning the 'ole gal round. It's not my first aggressive driving action when tacos ate involved, how I tried to be more civil, Lord how I tried -- but it's tacos and I possess zero self indulgence strength. Got things started with three meats, wrapoed in five inch double wrapped soft corn tortillas -- straight up traditional. Tacos aren't supposed to be half the size of a car battery as I flipped the switch from Attack to Enjoy. Lungua, Carne Asada and Pastor meat were my picks, all delivered mighty. Seasoning, tenderness, freshness -- I'm just not doing them justice with my words. My to go carne asada torta was handed off to my by taco truck front man Omar, a good fellow and forward thinking in the business world. I'll not say more than the former Kangaroo interior space is now Rico's storage. Smart man. I couldn't control myself as usual as stated above and I took the torta in my hands. Baseball mitt in size (A 1st basemen's mitt, the biggest infielders glove) I had to gnaw a bit to start, God I wish I had a bigger mouth. After shaving at the sides, I readied for a full frontal assault. The carne asada meat was layered like the bricks of a brownstone in Brooklyn, it was packed, yet balanced with all avacado, tomato, Avacado, jalapeno and a hint of mayo.

I'll be back, best Mexican food I've had in Charleston. Quick service with a nice outdoor seating area, easy parking and good vibes.

Our first food truck in Charleston and so happy we made it our first. The food was amazing and so authentic, we wish we ordered more food! The serving size was more than generous and we will definitely be returning! Ps we went back for seconds

It's a bit of a drive to get there from downtown or Mt Pleasant but oh my god, it is entirely worth it. There was just one person running the entire front of the restaurant, waiting every table, bringing out all of the food, and handling the checks. She was fantastic and the service was great. We ordered in Spanish (the best we could) and everything turned out well, but the menu is in both English and Spanish so you could just point to the things you want. I had the enchiladas which were amazing, highly recommend. Also ask for a flavored water (agua fresca), they had pineapple, cucumber and lime, and tamarin. The pineapple water (agua fresca de piña) was so good! This place is a diamond in the rough. It doesn't look like much on the outside but don't judge a book by its cover, it's the best Mexican restaurant in Charleston!

On our way to the airport one weekend, we saw the sign for what appeared to be a new restaurant in town, the family was hungry and we decided to give it a shot. Not expecting much, we ordered some authentic Mexican dishes: Lamb Barbacoa. Chilaquiles, Enchiladas and Horchata and Cucumber waters.... boy, were we so pleasantly surprised!!!!! FINALLY; delicious, fresh and truly authentic Mexican dishes!! For once everyone, wife, toddlers, teenage son, mother in law and I unanimously agreed, we're so delighted with this place that we have made it our go-to weekend breakfast spot. Service is super friendly, portions are generous, prices are fair. We hope this place keeps the great quality of the food for years to come. Congratulations to the chef, cooks and staff, all of you succeeded in making us feel at home.

We shopped and shopped and worked up an appetite. We walked into the tiny little restaurant and I immediately went onto my yelp app. The menu is NOT in English and I had no idea what I wanted so I used pictures as some sort of a guideline lol. My husband ordered enchiladas and we agreed, per usual that we would split everything. I ordered huarache and then last minute we decided to do an order of the plantains, (only one not pictures) sorry y'all they were delicious!!! The only flaw I saw was the guy in back, guessing owner, pretty much ran the entire show, which is badass, however I wished he wore gloves!! And then I almost ate both foil and wax paper from scraping the plastic to the bottom, it was worth it. We love finding authentic little places like this, they started with a food struck and now have this little hole in the wall place that packs a powerful punch! Oh and their green hot sauce that came in the soufflé cup was amazing! If not for my son, I would have drenched my food in it! So good! We would definitely come back, but I'd research the menu a little more before coming, so I can figure out what I want beforehand.

First off, the customer service was outstanding. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely made us feel appreciated from the moment we walked in. You don't always get that kind of attention these days, so it really stood out. The restaurant itself was spotless, well-kept, and had a great vibe. You can tell they take pride in the place. Now let's talk about the food -- because this is where they really shine. We started with the empanadas, which were absolutely delicious -- fresh, flavorful, and the perfect way to kick things off. For our main, we ordered the Peruvian chicken, served with fries and rice, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired incredibly well with their signature sauces -- seriously, those sauces take everything to another level. Even the salad was fresh and tasty, which says a lot because that's usually an afterthought at most places. On top of that, they've got a great selection of sodas and other drinks, making it a perfect stop for a casual lunch. Bottom line: An unexpected gem with amazing food, top-tier service, and a clean, welcoming atmosphere. **Highly recommend -- 5 stars, 3 thumbs up from us.

This is a fast casual style restaurant and not a real fancy place. My picky colleague who's never had peruvian ordered the ribs. Quesadiladas - you get 2 in an order and these are different than Mexican ones since they have grilled bell peppers and onions. A bit pricy too...the rice and beans that come with this are just average. They only had 2 salsas for the table, a green ranch like one and a red spicy one similar to a spicy Mexican red sauce. I'm still looking for a peruvian restaurant that has the spicy green sauce that most all peruvian restaurants have in California.

No concern. No accountability. The waiter then doubled down by telling me I would have never found the hair if I had not mixed my food together. Imagine blaming the customer for discovering a contamination issue in their meal. Finding a hair in your food is disgusting. Being insulted and blamed for it is unacceptable. The complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer service was shocking. If this is how they handle food quality issues, I can only wonder what happens behind the scenes.
