Super sweet and friendly couple, the tortillas were fresh pressed, and the red salsa is soooo good. They also put a ton of meat in each taco. Easy to find free metered parking along Pico, and they have tables and chairs if you wanted to sit and eat. Go support them! They deserve it :) read more

Ok. I've spent a few years trying different taco stands throughout LA. I have two places I go to when I am craving. But never noticed this stand that's sorta close to my place. The tortilla is made fresh to order. The salsa was warm...as if it was recently cooked...never knew salsa had to be cooked...but my chef brother confirmed, fresh salsa is cooked. The meat had flavor. Wish they had more drink options. They only had horchata that looked like it was from the night prior. Sides...radish, lime, onion cilantro, and something else. Not a lot. They were grilling up onions and pepper. So maybe if I was there a few hours later??? They might have more side options. I'll be back for sure. Maybe not right when they open at 7. I also love this place. Quick, friendly, great food and a price that cant be beat. The best horchata IMO its flavorful and not too sweet. Of all the taco spots I have tried in my time in LA I keep coming back to this one. I used to live just a 15 min drive away now its more like 20-25 depending on traffic, but we still make a regular trip to get food from here. They make their own masa tortillas and they aim for perfection. It was really cute to watch them roll out tortillas and throw back the ones that were too small or not round. I have legit eaten several thousand burritos all over SoCal. I eat at least one burrito a day (usually two) and have been doing so for years. This is probably the best burrito I've ever had. Hard to say, but top 10 for sure. Everything is super fresh. I feel like most places just cover up subpar ingredients with tons of salt. This carnitas burrito was so clean and fresh that I almost couldn't believe it. Every single part of it was perfect. The beans, rice, carnitas were all fresh and the flavor was perfect. Even the onions and cilantro were crisp and fresh. The tortilla was made fresh right in front of me. It was $6 for a good portion. Similarly, large tacos were $1.50. You will have a hard time finding better burritos and tacos. Look, I know we're all loyal to that one corner spot at the end of the block where we live, but I don't care if they've been there for 40 years, this stand is just better. Best street tacos ever! Our friends live in the area, so they introduced us to this wonderful world of delicious street tacos, and omg, it was like "where have you been all my life". I'll be the first to admit that I was buzzed both times we had the tacos from here, but my tastebuds can't be so off when I'm inebriated that I can't tell what is good and bad. Their tortillas are great, their meats are delicious, the portions are generous, and the pricing is affordable. Their salsas are great too! My husband loves the cow head taco, but I stick with the generic carne asada. Lots of onion and cilantro, and it's so good, I'm drooling thinking about it. They're only there after 7pm, and I'm not sure if they're there every day, but try it next time you're driving by and see this street taco stand open. So good... can't wait to go again! read more

I ate 7 tacos. Yup. Went to DTLA for Artwalk, only to have the OccupyLA folks ruin my plans for Kogi :[ Leonard W. mentioned about this great tacos place towards West LA so we headed there. To be honest, I did have my doubts at first. It's more of a taco stand rather than the usual taco trucks. However, as I walked up, I immediately noticed the pork on the vertical oven and I knew it was gonna be a good night. I'm a huge fan of the pastor, but it's not like the typical pastor. Essentially, it is like chicken shwarma, where they stack flat pieces of spicy pork on a metal rod, then placed on the rotating vertical oven. It is then shaved off, but the best part is definitely the little pineapple they slice from the top to add with the tacos! I went with 3 of the pastor and 2 carne asada to start. Both meats have a bunch of flavor and very tender. The pastor was definitely the best out of the two. A little fatty for the flavor! The best part though, is all the different toppings that they have. Pico de gallo, 3 types of salsas, cooked onions, raw onions, grilled chili peppers, cucumber, and cilantro. I went crazy and made all the tacos with different toppings. The salsa verde is probably my favorite and watch out for the grilled peppers. My mouth was burning for awhile haha. After I ate my 5 tacos and as I watched my friends finishing theirs, I had to get more so ordered two more of the pastor tacos and devoured it. The guy forgot the pineapple so make sure to ask for it! $1 for tacos and $5 for burritos. Saw the guy making the burritos, and wow they pack a lot of meat, so definitely worth the $5. There's also horchata and I like how it is not that sweet, but it might be because it is a bit watered down by the ice haha. Usually it is El Gallito or El Chato for me when I'm around this area, but I think Rico's is the new default! read more

The tortillas are pressed fresh and grilled as you order. In a corner of the tortilla grill, a huge crock of pinto beans simmer. (Those are free btw, added gratis on top of your taco selection.) They a big variety of taco meats. Standard fare of carne asada, chicken and pastor. THEN they have the tongues and cheeks of what I'm not sure, my tastes are simple: I went with asada and pastor. Next stop: the salsa table. The green tomatillos sauce was so fresh it was still slightly warm. The avocado salsa was also good. Add your onions and cilantro and a squeeze of lemon, mercy those tacos were good. Second visit: I discovered the grilled onions and jallepenos. The Al Pastor here is awesome! This is the meat that you see spinning and cooking as you pull up. I also love that all the prices are even numbered, so change needed. Tacos are $1, Burritos $5, and Horchata $1. With a burrito, you get beans, rice, cilantro and onions along with your meat choice. You can customize anyway you like. They have all of the condiments right there and you and take what you need. There is also a long table set up with a few seats but I would say most people get theirs to-go. I'm not sure what their relationship to the very popular Leo's Taco might be, but they have Leo's logos taped over on the side & back of their truck coupled with the same style Al Pastor I grew to love from the afore mentioned truck (complete with slice of pineapple). Rico's has a great selection of salsas and condiments, and best of all: none of the crazy gangsta carnival like atmosphere of Leo's. Every time I go, the environment is easy going and the staff is friendly. All I ever eat at Rico's is the Al Pastor tacos, which they make them right in front of you (for a very reasonable one dollar), so I can't speak for anything else other than the al pastor tacos. My family member went to pick up food for us this rainy day to eat at home. We love street tacos. We love pretty much any food that is Mexican. You can't get much better Mexican food than in Los Angeles California. I ordered two al pastor tacos and one al pastor quesadilla. I ate half the quesadilla first. What I liked about it is that it was filled with more than just cheese and meat. It included onions, cilantro, and avocado. Add a little jalapeno and salsa and a full one is a meal in itself. The salsa was hot and flavorful. Probably more hot than flavorful. But I ended up only giving 4 stars because I didn't go to the restaurant myself. It's always great to find a new street tacos spot that manages to be cheap AND authentic! Rico's tacos isn't a truck, but rather a stand that is set up on the side of Pico. The tortillas are handmade and FRESH TO ORDER. I prefer flour to corn tortillas and was super excited when I found out they used flour. Their carne asada was really good and so were their salsas (which are self-serve). They set up at 7pm every night. Don't listen to the one star reviews, stupid people say stupid things. Call the police again douch they have a food vendor permit. And is authentic Mexican street food. If you want an Americanized version loaded with cheese and sour cream, take yourself to Chipotle and get salmonella whole you're at it. The women who run the place are sweethearts. I stumbley way through ordering in Spanish every time and they politely teach me the proper way. I trust the cleanliness and quality of this food over Chipotle any night of the week. The flavors are simple but delicious. The sauces they have are amazing. Especially the avocado sauce, it's unbelievably delicious and matches the red sauce perfectly. The red sauce brings the heat. I wasn't expecting it to be as spicy as it was and had some left over the next day, which went gangbusters on my scrambled eggs. They have high ratings for a reason. They make delicious burritos and tacos. I have had the steak and chicken burrito. I prefer the chicken. Also, el pastor taco is phenomenal. If you ask for a burrito with everything it comes with meat, chopped onions and cilantro, pinto beans and seasoned rice.
