I've been to this taco stand & never had a problem. But after getting a carne asada quesadilla and carne asada taco ($16), that I was unable to eat, because the meat tasted like gas. I had ingested several bites of it, (with hot sauce), but I couldn't take another bite. The meat was chemically contaminated & I got sick not long after for the whole night. It was important for me to tell the person that runs the stand. I had the best of intentions to help this business and wanted nothing in return. I walked up to the stand & asked the woman who takes the cash, (with the sharp eyebrows), if I could please speak to the person in charge, (or owner). At first she ignored me & then said, "I don't understand - no speak English." I asked who speaks English and she sent me to the back of the line by the cooks. I stood there for another 10 minutes and no one wanted to talk to me or answer my question. I told them that there was a big problem with their meat the night before & had brought back the entire meal, so they could try the meat. No one did anything except talk to each other in Spanish, (which I understood). The cook graciously offered me a replacement meal & tried to problem solve. The tall man, who spoke English, (as shown next to cashier Karen in the photo), was going to give me a replacement meal. I waited 15-20 minutes. I asked for the chicken quesadilla, and the vitriol that came out of cashier Karen, who said she didn't speak English was unbelievable. She refused to give me any food and said I had to pay $6 for the replacement taco. I tried to tell her that it was a replacement and she kept yelling aggressively at me and said, "no - you pay $6. You're not getting anything " and that I, "never bought any taco." She became angry and verbally abusive because I was getting a replacement meal, as a solution to my getting chemically poisoned. She was a bully and aggressively yelling at me to humiliate me in front of the other customers & personnel. By this time she had no problem speaking English. (A group of young ladies started talking to me, felt bad that I was the focus of cashier Karen's rudeness. They complimented me & wished me a good night.) The guy next to cashier Karen handed me the bag with the quesadilla. I asked cashier Karen for her name and she ignored me. Then I asked the guy next to her what her name was and he put his hands together like duck lips and rudely opened and closed his hand at me, (meaning that I'm talking to much) This was extremely inappropriate & as soon as I left, I threw the food out, because I didn't trust or hold it past any of them to have put something nasty in my food. By the way, there was never a possibility that I would be refunded. By this time I was so upset, I was sorry that I had generously tipped them the night before. Even cashier Karen's response to the tip had been of surprise; but then I remembered she had not even acknowledged it or said thank you, after receiving it. What this staff does not, is that I owned and operated a successful fine dining restaurant & wedding venue for 17 years. I have done consulting for small restaurant businesses, pro bono, in order for the businesses to financially thrive. I know how food is cooked, how it should be stored, when the oil needs to be changed, marketing, accounting, et al., as well as the health dept's requirements, in order to keep the public healthy and well. What I believe happened to the meat and reason I took my food back to the taco stand; is because they had been out of chicken. Since there was a meat shortage, more carne asada needed to be barbecued quickly. An abundance of lighter fluid was used to quicken the process & it possibly got on the grill, where the meat is placed; and the cooking process started well before the coals were ready. It shouldn't matter whether you go to a restaurant, food truck or taco stand, customers should be treated with respect, kindness & consideration - and it's called customer service. A customer shouldn't be lied to, yelled at, insulted and humiliated by any employee of the business. It should be run in a transparent and professional manner. I'm 64 yrs young & have never written one negative comment or review about any restaurant. Nor have I ever been treated with such disrespect, malice and ill intent. I felt it important to tell my story because nobody should experience what I did; in eating compromised food and then being made to feel like I did something bad. This is what bullies do and I've never had a problem in clarifying right from wrong, as well as responsibility and accountability. I didn't have a choice and had to give a star. read more

Whenever anyone tells me that they found the best taco spot in LA, I always laugh because in my mind I knew I already found the best tacos you could find in the city. However, El Primo has recently HUMBLED me. I have to give credit where credit is due and El Primo managed to slide in my number 1 spot for best tacos in LA - I am truly impressed. Of course, I always opt for carne asada and the meat here is just so tender and flavorful especially when paired with their salsa which has the perfect amount of spice and flavor. As a major pineapple fan, I understand it's more traditional to add that with al pastor but I add it onto my carne asada tacos and it is so yummy. Their pineapple is freshly cut right in front of you and is my favorite aspect of this vendor as I know not all vendors have it. Lastly, let's be clear that not all horchata is created equally but El Primo has superior horchata. The amount of milkiness and cinnamon is absolute perfection as I've had some watery horchatas in the past, so make sure you grab yourself a horchata while you're here. As someone who lives in the valley, despite recently discovering this spot a few weeks ago I find myself driving out to Venice a lot lately just for these tacos because they are just THAT GOOD and also very cheap. We finally made it to their truck on Saturday, 3/21/26! El Primo Tacos catered my daughter's event in Culver City and this year was the second year we went and we absolutely love their food. After the event, we have been craving for their food ever since and we were so excited to finally have it again. They are located on Lincoln Ave in Los Angeles. The line wasn't bad, it went pretty fast. The only thing is that they don't have a menu so you kind of just look at the people in front of you and ask questions. It would be nice to see what other options they have besides taco, burrito and quesadilla. So went off from what we know and what we've had at the event. We ordered 2 burritos with pastor and asada and added pineapple and it was so tasty! The pineapple added that extra flavor and it was so good. We ordered asada quesadilla and asada tacos and pastor tacos as well. Wished the servers wore gloves but it was ok. All looked clean. They also had several toppings like onions, cilantro, limes, cucumber etc and salsas as well. There were no price posted so we just trusted the guy at the end to let us know how much everything came out to. We ordered 2 burritos, quesadilla, 3 pastor tacos, 3 asada tacos and our bill came out to $48. Not bad for all the food we got and the best part is that everything was delicious! It is hard to stand out especially in LA where there is a taco stand in every corner but this one is definitely our favorite. We tried the famous taco stand in Palms but we really preferred El Primo Tacos over that one. Service was good. Parking on the street or at Ralphs parking lot. First time here and was not disappointed!! The food is delicious, I think my favorite out of the 3 I got has to be the marinated pork (al pastor). The steak and beef tongue were delicious too. The overall service was very friendly. I love me a self-serve sauce bar. I would definitely come back here. The price of each taco is $2. This place is cash only. The place is shaded and there are some stools to sit on if you wanted to eat there. And these guys worked so fast in an assembly line that it made the long line move relatively fast. So, I came here on a weekend, and apparently the experience here is different on a weekday. I don't think it's that extravagant of a stand thing the week, and I think they operate out of a food truck during the week? Not sure... We got a good amount of food here. I opted in for the burrito and my friends for their quesadillas and multiple tacos. I can only speak for the burrito and el pastor taco, and I highly recommend it! I don't usually have Mexican food cravings, nor would I say that it's a favorite food, but this stand is BOMB! And there's a smaller churro stand that's next to this place. 7 churros for $5, and they make them fresh per order and are amazing! Way way WAY better than the overpriced churros at Disneyland. For this place to continue to serve delicious tacos for $1 a pop in this economy is insane. They have stuck true to themselves, while producing the same delicious quality they always have in two bite tacos that are packed with flavor, quality, and love in every calorie. Their pastor are by far the signature, salty, but not too salty. Tender, but also with a crisp finish. Throw some pineapple with it in a burrito or in some tacos and voila, you are in what I call "smack mode" of the most delicious flavors. The asada is also fantastic. I had THIRTEEN total tonight (could have so done more) and am a traditionalist with a bit of onion, cilantro, and a ton of lime, and from writing this review, my tastebuds could go for 13 more. The service is always great, with the main three guys taking care of you at each station from start to finish in a very efficient manner, without having you feel rushed. Lastly, what's a better ambiance than a taco stand on the side of Lincoln Blvd? You go in line, get your food, pay in CASH ONLY, go to a couple tables on the side to smack on some good tacos and possibly have a conversation with another LA local who knows where to get good food. I was lazy and should have went to the spot at Whole Foods. I wanted to try something new and was extremely disappointed. My Al Pastor burrito very mediocre at best. They ran out of onions and the mild green sauce had no flavor. Here's the worst part -- The burrito was not properly wrapped tight and fell apart! They only take cash and the cashier dude didn't want to accept my one dollar bill which was partially torn. It's still cash man! He was nice and smiled and didn't want to take it even though my burrito was made. That was a sign that I should have left. Oh well. 4 Star Rating is based on the tacos, on their own merit, and not necessarily the ambiance and surroundings. (Think taco truck-with-some bonus seating) The tacos are about as good as it gets. The pastor is on the vertical rotisserie, the tripas are great, and the carne asada is pretty darn good, but maybe not the best due to the overall conditions and limitations of the presentation. This place is a SUPER bargain, has great meats and all the fixings. The salsa is really super but if you're not committed to heat, use it sparingly. I was a happy camper loading it up- but you might want to think "habanero" level heat. The ambiance is OK, with street seating and some of the precooked food can be cool if eating during winter. (If you like your food hot/warm, order pastor - it will be cooked as you're standing in line). Cars ran into the truck twice during a few hours- so stay away from the curbside. It's a busy spot with Whole Foods and all, right there. Would definitely go again and it's the perfect neutralizer for the typical LA check at the end of a meal.
