This place was more than I expected! Im so glad I gave it a shot. I thought the drinks were decent. Weren't watered down at all. Pricey though. We had 5 drinks and it was almost 80 bucks. BUT considering the tickets to get in are so cheap it kind of balances itself out I guess. Now, about what I came here for. The comedy. I had never heard of not one comedian that hit that stage but boy were they HILARIOUS! It wasn't many of us in the audience but the outpour of laughter, you would have thought it was a room full of people. I was in tears the ENTIRE night. My small drink napkin was filled with tears. I can't say enough about my experience. It was just overall dope. And the show went on past midnight. Just good, wholesome, fun! I had a great time at Riddles Comedy Club on May 24, 2018. All of the comedians were hilarious. I laughed so hard that I cried.

You know what this place needs, to give out free tickets. The place seems ok but not for the money you spend. I went on a Saturday night and it was not even close to full. The comics were ok. No one famous but they seemed like they could get there with a little more publicity. The inside of the club is nothing like what I expected. There is long cafeteria style seating, so no intimate moments and chances are good you will be seated with strangers so the place looks crowded from the stage. There is a two drink minimum and you will need at least 3 to get any type of buzz. Also, why can't you split checks? I mean come on. My recommendations to the owners: 1. Score some big names or even slightly big names to headline. 2. Give away some free tix to boost up your crowd (Check out the Funny Bone model it works.) 3. If you are going to have a two drink minimum, make it worth the customer's wild. No more extra ice or short pours. 4. Invest in 2-4 person seating. Your current digs seem cheap. I'm only going to give Riddles 4 start because I've never been. I will say that of all of the places that I haven't been to, it is one of my favorites. There is a place just like it that I have never been to, but I can't remember it's name...or even if it exists, but Riddles is way better. Every time I drive by Riddles, the "old school" look of it's sign and front entrance reminds me of The Chuckle Hut. Truth be told, I don't even know if there is, or has ever been, a place called The Chuckle Hut...but if there was...Riddles would be right on par with it. I took a date there 2 weeks ago and we had a blast! The only thing I wasn't crazy about was that the bartender gave me a hard time. I found a Groupon for Riddles but couldn't find it on my phone for some reason. She said let me take a look. So I gave her my phone and she yells oh look this! A strip club! I just played it cool. Luckily my date has a sense of humor otherwise I wouldn't be seeing date #3. The comedians were all funny. I just didn't like sitting up front but who does? The last guy was the funniest. He did a perfect imitation of Beavis and Butt head and Ozzy Osborne. He had the glasses and was stuttering like we all know Ozzy does. So if you're looking for a place to go with friends or a date I would definitely recommend it. read more

Decided to check this place out because of how cheap it was on Groupon. Well, after going there I understand why the tickets were dirt cheap. The bartender that greeted us was rude and abrasive, the staff was slow, the drinks are overpriced and the room the show was in was sweltering hot. The first time I went to Riddles was a complete disaster. A friend of mine wanted to do an open mic and bombed it after drinking too much and could barely articulate a sentence. That was many years ago. A different friend of mine (who's good at comedy) invited us to a showcase. We decided to go on a Monday night and it was great. The bartender was super friendly and welcoming. Sometimes places like this cater to a regular crowd and ignore newbies. Not here! The bartender was great and made sure we had drinks all throughout the show. Yes, there's a two drink minimum but the drinks were good. My partner ordered a jack n coke and said it was great. I had pop because I wasn't in the mood to drink and they didn't seem to care what I ordered. The comedians up there were fantastic. I've seen my friend do stand up elsewhere and she usually ends up being the only funny person all night. But here, she did good and everyone (almost everyone) did fantastic. Our entire table was laughing out loud all night. For a Monday night out, this was so much fun. It's a comedy place so I'm sure they have bad nights where the jokes fall flat, but I had a great experience. I hope everyone else has a good time here. I'm definitely going to come back. And if you had a bad experience here before, I'd say try again and hopefully you have better luck. read more

I came here on a Saturday night in the middle of October. I had no idea that Riddles was at the end of the shopping center next to El Gallo. The price was ok a little more than I expected. Plus, they have a two drink minimum per person which makes sense. The drinks you buy at the bar outside do not count towards the two drink minimum. The opening comics were decent. The reason I went to Riddles was for the headliner Michael Palascak! I have been a fan of Mike for a long time. If he has gigs close to my place I head out to see him. I have seen him at Zanies in Old Town and even watched his half hour special on Comedy Central. I enjoyed seeing Mike and the openers were also funny. Riddles, I will be sure to come and visit again the next time Michael Palascak is in town! read more

Great time! Great night! I've been to Riddles three times - once with my friends and twice with my boyfriend. I watch Comedy Central a lot so wasnt too sure if it would be worth it - but I swear to god I haven't laughed that hard in months :D They always have 2 opening comics from the area then their headliner. All 3 were hysterical. Also, its waay nicer on the inside then I thought and the show room is really big and lit really cool with lil candles. Drinks are good but I like hearing the people with goofy laughter in the audience - it always makes me smile and laugh even more. I will definitely go back. My boyfriend and I both lost our jobs recently and a funny show was exactly what we needed & really cheered us up. The whole next day we were quoting and laughing about the show. Waay better than just going to a bar or see the lame unfunny movies out lately. read more

The show was nice/funny. Buttttt the organization was absolutely horrific we had tickets for 7p was told that there weren't enough seats and to come back at 845. We asked if we could stay and buy drinks from the bar,we were told "NO" because it would be a fire hazard. Well actually it was already a fire hazard because it was over compasated already. We were also told that we could possibly get a refund though Eventbrite if we wanted. We decided to go to the Mexican restaurant next door to wait until the 9p show. Well we weren't let in until 931p standing out in the cold from 845p until 931pget inside the show didn't start until after 10p. 2 drink min ok cool but the server didn't come around but 1time when the bill came her tip was included our bill was 82.00. We get ready to leave got stopped at the door being asked about a red ticket which we never received from the server to exit out saying that we'd paid for our drinks. I attended a comedy show 5/4/19... 8pm Show it was great customer service. The atmosphere was positive and humorous. I look forward to attending more shows there and will even suggest the location to friends. The comedians are Awesome and full of jokes. I have been to riddles twice in the last three months, once for a girls night- the other a date night. Both times the comedians exceeded my expectations. Absolutely Hilarious!!! The only negative is the mandatory 20% gratuity. That rate of gratuity means excellent service and the service is just average. Additionally, the waitress appeared frustrated that I (and other customers) needed change. In a cash only establishment you should be prepared to give change especially since gratuity was already included. However, do not let the service keep you from a great night out. I have visited 3 times and had a laughing good time but Jay Dub has repeated 50-75% of his act. Get some new jokes man!! I'm now ready to get up there and perform his jokes for him. Lol. The Comedy events are great! Really enjoyed the comics. But the 2 drink minimum + tax + mandatory 20% on every bill regardless of your parties size is a rip off! The drinks are overpriced too. I've been here a few times. There always seems to be one really funny comedian and one sort of funny comedian. I think they have a two drink minimum, which is fine, but I don't like being told to drink. Especially when I already paid like $10 for the show. What a terrible night. The comedians were ok, reminded me of someone's drunk uncle making awkward jokes. The drinks were awful. But what did it for me is when the bartender/"co-owner" started to argue with my friends and she started to insult them.. Claimed we wanted free drinks and a free show. We never asked for a free hand out, solely for her to fix our drinks. Also a mandatory 20% tip for a waitress that took forever to wait on us and took over 30 minutes to get back to us is ridiculous. I fell asleep during one of the "acts". Waitress came to ask if I wanted a refill of my Long Island, (which tasted like that one episode of Roseanne where Becky and her friend pour 10 diff liquors into one cup) and needless to say my eyes were closed. The only thing I recall laughing at was a joke where Alsip was compared to Mid Evil Times. Didn't matter the joke made no sense.
