WOW! Is all I can say about this place. We are regulars here for date night. It's BYOB, affordable and downright hilarious. The teams that perform here are so on point. Recently my significant other and I got married and chose to have our rehearsal "dinner" here. We decided not to have a bridal party so we had nothing to rehearse! We chose to be roasted and toasted by stand up comedians in front of our family and friends instead. They let us bring in catering, alcohol and as many people as the venue would hold! (Up to 48 but we kept it intimate.) The planning process was seamless and the execution of the event was even better. They even asked us if they could film it! What an amazing surprise for us. I have never been to an improv performance before and this was my first experience. I have to say that it was really amazing! There was never any break in the action and every skit seamlessly flowed from one to another. There were plenty of off-the-cuff jokes that played out so well that I was simply amazed that the actors could think and act/react so quickly. Attended the 10 pm show with a group of 8. They seated us all together which was great. The show had me laughing like crazy which was awesome since I sometimes find some comedy goes right over my head. We had an excellent lineup of comedians. We absolutely love the Comedy Clubhouse. For $12 per person per show, it's hard to beat the entertainment value. We moved into the area about a year ago and have already been 5 times. Each time we've brought more friends. If you like Improv, I can't recommend the place enough. We haven't been disappointed yet, and always seem to be laughing our heads off. There are plenty of places to grab a drink and early dinner in the area (North Ave; Milwaukee Ave, or Division St) before heading to the show. We will be back again soon!! read more

The shows are funny and it definitely is something different to do for a date night! I would say it is worth what you pay, and bonus, the drinks are incredibly affordable. Pro tip: go to Big Mini Putt Putt beforehand! It's $8 for 9 rounds before 6pm. Then grab a drink somewhere in wicker park before heading to the show! Only gave four stars because it is a bit small in there and the show didn't start til closer to 8 so if you show up in time and aren't drinking you end up waiting around for a bit. read more

In the best way possible, this comedy show blew my mind and was one of the shows that had me laughing the hardest I've laughed in years. We saw an improv show on January 5 and loved it. This place had great reviews, and I love supporting local, but it was just not good. Maybe it was an off night? It was a Friday night 7:00/7:30pm show. The majority of laughs I heard in the theater, were by the performers themselves. We would have left early if there was an intermission, but we didn't want to seem rude. So we stayed and hoped it would get better. I'm not sure how the reviews are so good. We were both disappointed in the show. :( read more

Great spot for comedy! My girlfriend went to the 11pm Stand-up show last Saturday, just for some local laughs and something cheap to do for fun. We loved the BYOB factor, and knowing that we could support some local acts for such a low price was a definite draw for us both. the MC was very entertaining, as were all of the comedy acts! I really enjoy seeing people trying to hone their craft, and find their niche in the world of comedy. What I liked about this improv show was that everyone made us feel welcome. Sometimes at smaller theaters it's easy to feel like an outsider if you aren't someone who attends comedy shows often. That was not the experience I had here. We felt welcomed and guided by everyone who was there everyone was friendly with us and we sat right in the front. Though some of the jokes might've gone over our heads we enjoyed ourselves and it was a fun unique outing for our group. I enjoyed a small intimate setting and the show was just the right length so that you didn't need an intermission but stayed engaged the entire time. I would go back! read more

Wast sure what to expect, but was quite happily surprised. No frills type of place, but they do have a fun drink experience since you basically pour your own from a small selection of beers. Flatbreads are yummy too. Most of all, comedy was great. Which is why everyone should go! read more

I was so pleasantly surprised by this little place! The beer wall had excellent selections and was excellent value -- ~3 cups of beer for $12! And the performers were extremely entertaining, too. Came in with a friend for Thursday 8pm show. Small and quaint, welcoming people, BYOB (they have plastic cups and wine bottle opener) and I believe also you can bring in food. Tickets were $8 online. The place was packed, but soon realized that the 4 main tables in the center were guests, but the crowds on the outskirts on stools were different improv groups. Generally speaking, we didn't 100% dislike the acts, but, we rarely laughed at the actual skits - ended up drinking enough to laugh at how unlaughable things were. The other improv groups awaiting their turn seemed to REALLY enjoy their peers' spiel, laughing loud and being an active crowd, which was great to offset the nontickled actual audience. Most of the people in the groups seemed sophomoric with improv comedy, so it felt more like I was at a workshop rather than a show-- which is fine, but wish their website's description would've prefaced this, or list the acts performing. There were a couple that elicited good hard laughs from us. All in all, it was my first time here and I understand that there are many different acts on different nights, so won't be giving up just yet and returning on another day. I have mixed feelings about this place. I went once to watch improv and it was very enjoyable, but I also went to see their Wishin' Control theatrical and I was not a big fan. My wife and I went here after moving to Chicago from New England (we had amazing inexpensive improv at the Firehouse Theatre in Newport) and I'm not sure if "mid-west" humor is a thing but if it is, this was it... to be short but sweet nothing was funny.... NOTHING. It's $12 a ticket but you are better off going to the Queen Mary getting some cocktails and going home and watching A Comedy Central special. read more

We went to the Saturday night stand-up show and it was so much fun! Theater is small and I love the seating arrangements, not crowded or squished. The person working at the entrance booth was sooo friendly and made us feel so welcome! The host was hilarious, and so were all of the comedians! We were laughing the whole time and really enjoyed ourselves. It was casual and they engaged with the small audience. Place is BYOB and I think you can bring food as well. Tickets were super cheap and more than worth it. I loved how casual, laid-back, friendly, and fun the theater was! Solid Joint! BYOB which in my opinion makes it far superior to Zanies or even some of the others that charge $7 a beer. No doubt some of these folks will have their names in lights in no time.
