Cannot recommend Ride Chicago enough! My very precious boy has wanted to ride a bike for years. At 18 yrs old we finally relented. I don't doubt his skill as he's an excellent car driver. I do doubt all the crazies on the road! And I want my kiddo to last until old man adulthood! So I wanted him to have as much practice as possible from people who truly care. Freddie saw Jay for riding skills / lessons for the last couple of weeks and wow! Not only is my boy hooked but I have a deeper respect for these guys that take their time to take the students seriously. As a Mum who wants her kiddo riding as safe as possible, I thought nothing of multiple lessons and of course the onsite licensing class. Alden in the office was brilliant at working out the scheduling that worked with our crazy calendar and we now have a fully licensed rider who sailed through the test with zero marks taken off. My son will have a break for the winter and I will once again see if Jay can give him a refresher in the late Spring before the season really starts to give my kiddo every success to enjoy his riding! I just watched the state test video on Ride Chicago's YouTube channel in preparation for Day 2 of the basic motorcycle training class. Day 1 was fantastic. This was my very first time on a motorcycle. Henry and Natalie are great instructors. Sure, they know how to ride and instruct on skills. What they are really good at is developing relationships to aid in instruction. They learn your name, encourage and provide guidance in a way that keeps your head in the game. This is a long overdue review. My husband purchased ride classes for me as a Christmas present. Since the season was coming to an end (2019). I had to hurry up and schedule my class. I feel that both the class and practical portion were equally great and informative. The practical/riding practice took place kind of by the United Center. There were plenty of bikes for all the students. We learned the bike parts and their purposes, and obviously how to use the bike and how to properly store/park/care for the bike. The "riding range" was large enough for me to learn all of the maneuvers which included turns, stopping, speeding up, u turns, idling, and maneuvering in a zig zag pattern. We were also taught riding formation on the street and how to ride as to cars are aware of our presence on the road. I was super nervous for the riding test but passed and proudly rock that M on my license. It has been a few years since my class, and although I haven't rode a motorcycle for some time, I feel that the information I learned and mnemonics used in the class help and I still remember a lot today! read more

Let me first start off by saying this: Ride Chicago is one of the best businesses I've ever been to... EVER! I am 30 years old and have never had a drivers license. Growing up in Chicago, I rode buses and trains and didn't really care about owning a car. Also, I was TERRIFIED to drive for majority of my adult life. I thought I could never get behind the wheel without being completely scared. I decided that I wanted to conquer my fear. I read the great Yelp reviews that Ride Chicago had back in July. I figured, it's 2020- I'm gonna go for it! I booked four two-hour driving lessons with Jay and things were underway. I was nervous, but excited to start driving. Right from the get go, I felt extremely comfortable with Jay. He is one of the most patient and accepting people you'll ever meet. Since Day 1, I knew I was in good hands. By Day 4 (my last lesson), I went from barely knowing how to start the engine of a car to cruising down the expressway confidently. I took my driving test yesterday and it well extremely well. I felt so prepared, all thanks to my lessons with Jay. I received my license and it honestly felt incredible. I still can't believe I did it! I want to thank Jay for all of his fantastic training and support. Emily, Ride Chicago's receptionist, was also super friendly and helpful. Their whole team rules. I recommend them 1000%! This is less of a review and more of a thanks to Jay for connecting me w/someone who might buy my motorcycle so, thanks Jay! :--) I called RideChicago asking if they had winter storage and they said no as they had just sold their last storage lot that day. Note to self: call earlier next year! Jay asked, however, if I was interested in selling. Well, yes, maybe, possibly, why do you ask? He told me he has a trusted industry contact who buys m/c's wholesale and maybe he might be interested in buying mine. I met Jay's contact the very next day (today), super nice, no BS, clear, open to what I had, offered cash, and to close the deal then and there. Ultimately I chose not to sell but I thank Jay for being so cue sensitive as to mention his contact. Just finished the basic motorcycle licensing course earlier today for M Class licensing held in Bridgeview. The class was outstanding. The instructors, Kevin and Ian, were awesome. They were very knowledgeable, patient, and informative as the the proper technical and in explaining the whys and why-nots. They made the class fun and kept the class moving providing the students with a constant learning stream. I feel so much more confident now and can't wait to take my driving test with Ride Chicago. I took the Scooter class today - wow! Much more than I expected. I'm not inexperienced on scooters or mini-bikes (showing my age!) but I sure learned a lot today in just the 5 hours. I loved that they spent the necessary amount of time prepping you to ride the scooters (or motorcycles) and as soon as they were able, we were all riding. Of the 10 guys in the class, 3 had never been on a motorcycle- and you sure couldn't tell, the pre-ride instruction was so good. Tim and Ian were the instructors today - I gotta tell you - they couldn't have been more capable, nicer and funny. They were very thorough and they had eyes like hawks! Don't think you're going to learn a bad habit there. The class was excellent - I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to ride a scooter or motorcycle- it's definitely worth your time and money. The people here are excellent; laid back, friendly, and patient. Took the basic motorcycle safety class and a few weeks later passed the license test. I suggest doing the the 7am-12pm time slot, much cooler in the morning than afternoon, it is a parking lot and there is no shade. Had to wait two and a half weeks to take the licensing test, was worried about lack of driving in meantime, but they give you plenty of practice time (I had nearly 30 minutes) before the test. Mike Here. I just completed the 2 day basic course across from the United Center off Damen in Chicago. I was so impressed with the trainers, Kevin and Jay. They were so prepared, organized and instructive. They exceeded my expectations by a lot and I can't help but praise these two for there attention to detail, positive feedback and instruction. The only thing I would suggest is they have at least one taller bike for the occasional tall people like me with my 6'7" height. The nice performing Honda bikes felt miniature under my frame and my legs were always cramped up. Made shifting really difficult. Not there fault. Took the Introduction Motorcycle class during Covid, completing the usual classroom portion online and the driving section at the Damen/Monroe site across form the United Center. For context, I'm a moped rider (Genuine Venture 50cc for now) and had time during quarantine to finally get my motorcycle license in order to get higher cc scooters in the future. While there are scooter specific classes, the "M" license endorsement allows for larger scooters and motorcycles as well, so I figured I'd take the class to learn for both. As for the learning itself, I'll start by talking about the online portion of the class. This focused mostly on safety, state regulation, and some general information for riding. There are readings, images, some videos, and small quizlets after each section. These are fine for an introduction, but as someone who's done some instructional design the assessments could be improved. The overall LMS they use is easy to navigate and stop/start for convince. Just make sure you read up on the state's motorcycle manual (https://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/publications/pdf_publications/dsd_x140.pdf?) before you go to the DMV and take the test for your permit. Also YOU NEED YOUR PERMIT BEFOR YOU CAN RIDE. They warn you about this plenty of times but its a state safety thing so please do it before going to the riding portion of class. Now, as for the riding portion of the class, they run a pretty great program. Bikes are all provided for you when you show up and there are a few different models to choose from. They are all a bit older but quality workhorses that you can learn on and not worry about damaging. The content of the course mostly focuses on learning basic skills and then applying them to more advanced exercises mirroring what you'll be assessed on for the state tests. There are always two instructors present but they may cycle out depending on the days of the class. All of which are great instructors committed to making sure you understand the concepts taught and can execute them at your own pace. While all the driving is done in a parking lot, you still have plenty of time and space to practice changing gears, swerving, and overall operation of the vehicle. They also make sure you are competent and confident for the examination and host license exams every Wednesday with a state auditor (separate fee and sign up required). Overall, the class is pretty quality and taught me a lot, but was a bit on the pricier side. You certainly get what you pay for, but if you already know how to ride pretty well and are looking for just getting your license, you may want to consider the classes at Harper college. PS Check with your insurance company to see if you get a discount on your rate for taking a class! read more

Both Paco and Kevin guided us through the entire learning process and even though there's a lot of information packed into two days - these guys break it up in such a way that regardless of your skill level - there is nothing to be nervous about. There is always something to be gained and every hour I was in the program I felt like I was more and more knowledgeable about the machine itself as well as overall rider safety. I got my 8 hour lesson package with Andy and I am really happy I did. Two things about Andy. First, he is a professional. He has years of experience, he will catch your mistakes and teach you how to be a good and safe driver. He's got your back. Second, he puts you at ease. Even the most nervous of drivers (like me) who keep wanting to drive a car but can't overcome the fear... just hire Andy and give it a go. You might feel like you are falling apart before the first (and who am I kidding, the second and the third) lesson... but when the lesson starts, you'll be fine. I contacted Ride Chicago on Friday inquiring about 2 scooter rentals. One for me and one for my 18 year old son. The email that I received from Ride Chicago stated the scooters were available and that a $400 deposit would be required. We showed up on Saturday only to be told that my son (18 year old High School student) was required to submit his own credit card. I asked if I could just give them another one of my credit card and was told thats not their policy. This was a total waste of a trip and and even worse policy. How many high school students have their own credit cards? read more
