This is a review of the Outlet Center. A couple of miles south on Route 27 is their main showroom. There you have all the glitz and glamour and incredible variety. I have been there many times. Here is much different. It's a giant box of a warehouse surrounded by a barbed wire fence. Here the glitz and glamour go down, the variety goes down and the prices go way way down! You will also see some used furniture here. One thing that stays the same is excellent customer service! Everyone is always a pleasure to work with. If you are new to these folks, I'd recommend you stop by both locations and then make an informed decision. In either case, I suspect you'll be pleased!

They focus on helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and do a super job. As part of their fund-raising efforts, they run numerous ARC Resale locations where they resell donated goods and it's the Avon Park resale location that I'm reviewing today. My mother recently passed away and I had a need to donate a great deal of stuff she had accumulated over 94 years of life. I chose these folks Arriving- It's right on Main Street about a minute from US Route 27 and it's a snap to find. Parking is simple. Donating- Easy peasy! The customer service folks explained clearly what they could take and why they didn't except certain items. It was painless and quick. Shopping- Let's assume you've been to other places that sell donations. This place is clean and organized like the competitors. The staff is just fine. Pricing- Unfortunately I'm deducting One star as they seem to price higher than all the competitors. They make up for that a bit by having selected days with discounts like Seniors Day etc. However, the standard pricing, in my opinion, needs to be adjusted. Conclusion- Even with the pricing blip this is a fine organization doing good work and the store is worth a look, especially on discounted days!

My long-time other half holds the Master Gardener designation and is a judge at the world famous, Philadelphia Flow Show! When she talks about Caladiums, folks pay attention and she says order here! Location- Their Home Office/Operations Center/Wearhouse/Gardens is here in my teeny tiny town. If you are not a wholesaler, it's really not a place to visit. Customer Service- You order online and I usually do the ordering, and their site is organized, informative and quick. I've never had an order screwed up or damaged, so customer service is spot on. Excellent breeding, no other privately held company in America is performing any caladium breeding. They are the best, because they breed for color, vigor, and disease resistance. They produce caladiums for sun and shade. These are not your grandmothers' caladiums! One thing to remember this is farming. So, whatever is happening under the soil, no one know until harvest. There could be crop failure, lower yields based on weather or bumper crops. They never know until they dig. I say all that to say this, if you've had issues in the past, call them up, ask questions and they'll work through any issues. I am a happy customer!!

I wandered into this creative co-op during the Caladium Festival and I was impressed by the…read moreartistic talent that was showcased. The Caladium Arts and Crafts Co-Op is a non profit that was created in 1992 by three Lake Placid Artists: Carol Mills, Harriet Porter, and Suellen Robinson. The ladies wanted to create a place for local artists and crafters to display and market their creations to the public. The store is like Etsy shop that you can walk around in person. Artists join the co-op so they can sell their creations. There are approximately 50 artists selling painted furniture, crochet blankets, tote bags, wreaths, trinket boxes, tea towels, note cards, jewelry, aprons, glasses, holiday decorations, faux floral arrangements, Christmas ornaments, art work for the wall, and more. I especially loved the delicate caladium earrings which were perfect for the festival. Everyone who was working was so kind and warm to me and the prices were more than fair for such skilled handiwork in the mediums of wood, textiles, glass, canvas, and metal. In addition to selling the work of artists, the co-op also has a room in the back that offers a variety of classes. You can view the current offerings on Facebook. A recent project was a rope bowl. If I lived locally I would be a regular visitor to this inspirational and welcoming space.
