First, let me start with the staff. Laura and Jennifer are AMAZING! Anytime I had an inquiry, a request, or the very select few times I had a concern, they always made sure to take care of it. And forgive me for not knowing his name, but the gentleman in charge of maintenance is AWESOME! Always quick to take care of an issue you may have (minus normal hours - that's normal!). It all starts with attitude, and this staff has the best! As for living, if you are looking for a place that helps you feel secluded, peaceful, but close to everything, this is the place to live. The only concern is limited parking in front of your unit, but that only happens if you are coming home late at night. Morning and throughout the day is no problem, and there are other spaces available across the complex if something isn't in front of your unit. You might have to walk a couple minutes, but again, only if you are trying to park late at night (around 9:30-10). The appliances are up to date or new, there is plenty of space with the garage (snow...think about it) and it is a very relaxing place and community. Plus, you will have a nice welcome kit waiting for you (won't spoil it) Thank you to the staff for my short, but enjoyable, stay. You are VERY good at what you do!

Most aspects of the building that contained my apartment was pretty high quality. They also have a facebook page to foster a community for everyone living in the building which is pretty nice. Unfortunately the apartment is not as large as advertised. The '540 sq ft' apartment I lived in was actually no larger than 450 sq ft (not sure if that is false advertising?). It was also common for the common areas to smell like wet dog. On top of that, when I moved into my apartment the key I was given did not work so I could not access the building. They also forgot to give me a key to the mailbox on the first floor. So, the physical quality of apartments are nice because they are new (albeit a little false advertising on their size). My experience moving in really wasn't that bad but the small things that happened when I moved in seemed quite unprofessional. They indicate a bit of lazy and unprofessional behavior on the management side of things.

For instance, on the day I moved in, Walmart left my futon in front of the building before I even got my keys, so Stella was kind enough to send a technician to carry it all the way up to my apartment before I received my keys later in the afternoon. Now that I'm in Texas, whenever I look for my next apartment, I often think of them. I once had a flying ant, mailbox, and electricity issue here at Windrige, and they were able to address the situation within a week after I called or sent out an email. So, maintenance service is definitely a 10/10, considering how cheap the rent is too. They also helped me go through the pet agreement patiently (I ask a lot of questions since I get anxious or over-analytical about things), and they kindly answered all of them until I was set to go. Price: 10/10 Service: 10/10 (It's so good that I wish I could rate it 100/10!) Location: 10/10! Yes, the building is old, but it's still habitable and pretty nice! The fair, reasonable price of rent offers heat, a parking space, and swimming pool. And a small monthly fee gets you Wi-Fi. Robb owns the complex. But he's not an absent landlord, concerned only with his property. Robb has a broader outlook, displaying a passionate protectiveness for the well-being of this wonderful neighborhood. Today's experience at celebration cinema was not great. Our movie was set to start at 11 so we…read morearrived early to park and get concessions. We didn't realize the movie theatre doors would be locked until about 10:50am so we waited outside for another 10 minutes beforehand until we were able to get in. Once we were inside, the employee was visibly frustrated as the server was down. She informed us that she could not ring any concessions up so she offered a small boat of popcorn instead; she was certain the servers would eventually be back up... we decided to try ordering via the QR code in the theatre since she said online orders would work... well that didn't work because it never made it to them since the server was down... so we walked to the concessions area and showed our receipt to retrieve our water and popcorn bucket. As we made it back to our seats we noticed others appearing in the theatre with their popcorn boats for each person along with drinks... I guess we should have just asked for free drinks instead of paying for concessions today. What an overall bummer. On top of that, my daughters chair never heated up no matter how many times she tried pressing the button. I think we will probably steer clear of first of the day movies at studio park from here on out. I did put a complaint into the guest relations and got an AI style response offering a $10 voucher to use within 90 days. Cool but that doesn't really help with the cost of today's messy situation. They mention they can't refund fees (which - ordering online was literally the only way to pay for anything and they charge you for "convenience") ... how ironic. So $10 was their token of apology? Sorry, but I think this just further adds to the reason I don't venture to the theatre much anymore. Our grand total for 2 tickets, 2 bottles of water and a popcorn bucket was $49.62. That price would have been fine if everything was properly working but when systems are down and chairs are broken - what a bummer.

This is a very interesting neighborhood/tour of old houses in the historic district. We went on…read moreMemorial Day and nothing was open, but you can get tours of some of the houses. I think that includes one of the Frank Lloyd Wright houses. We downloaded the self-guided tour and walked around to see almost all the houses on the list. Even those houses not on the official historical house list are nice to see. Most are beautiful and well maintained. This whole walk took 1.5-2 hours.

You can also sign up for Heritage Hill alerts from the Heritage Hill Association, which let you know of events and volunteer opportunities in the neighborhood as well as crime alerts in the area. They will even come to your home and do a safety check and teach you how to secure your home. I have contacted the Heritage Hill Association several times with questions about local ordinances, etc. and they are always very helpful!

1. Plumbing: Constantly had to make maintenance requests time and time again due to backed up pipes…read morewhere they would do a weak job and just end up blaming it on us when that ended up not even being the case. After about 5 requests, they finally called someone out to look deeper into the issue and found an old bracelet from before I even moved in. 2. Water: It was a luxury to be able to take a hot shower at any time of day. I can excuse not having warm water once or twice being in a complex, but our water was always FREEZING at all times of the day. The couple times we did have warm water we had to rush to either give the kids a bath, or give ourselves a shower. 3. "Updates": The floors, shower, and backsplash in kitchen are ALL peel off sticker tiles. It's so easy for the floors to get messed up by any and everything. The shower wall literally feels like a plastic board and was clearly not installed properly because there's air trapped behind it making it move. My point is.. the updates they made are a cheap joke. 4. Cost: The fact that a 2 bedroom here is almost $1,400 when the rooms are the size of a closet and we never even have hot water.... Embarrassing. 5. BUGS: Walls are infested with carpenter ants. We had wood shavings coming out of the cracks in the walls from the ants and see them all over the apartment. Even if we had one dish rinsed off in the sink, or one spot of anything on the counter there would be easily 80-100 ants all over the place. All they do is call the exterminator out and he sprays the repellent and leaves. It works for about 3-4 days and they just come back (it is CLEARLY an infestation within the walls). We also have an earwig problem. They are everywhere. It would probably help if the front door was sealed properly but don't get me started on that. 6. DEPOSIT: Once I moved out, they charged $100 for something that was damaged when I moved in. They also charged HUNDREDS for replacing a couple of the peel off floor tiles. They purposely charge outrageous amounts for cheap resources! 11/10 do not recommend Autumn Ridge Apartments.
