I am giving this office 3 stars because the providers are good, but the office staff is very cold and unfriendly, and I have been trying to get my medication for almost 2 weeks. The medication is a pre-authorization, but I have called twice to let them know that they sent my medicine, not only to the wrong pharmacy, but to two different pharmacies. Meanwhile I got that fixed, and I have gotten no calls back, so I have no idea if they've even tried to get the preauthorization. I might as well just call my insurance company myself. read more

Had to cancel an appointment for July 14 with Christine Hicks because the on-line pre-appointment registration did not work and indicated an unexpected cost. Attempts to resolve the issue by corporate phone were impossible. The phone does not go to the local office. I am a repeat customer and did not have these problems in the past. I will look for a more user-friendly system. I have not received the promised cancellation confirmation. read more

The physician I saw was good but the office staff was very difficult to talk to. She seemed annoyed that I was calling to be honest. It was very awkward. My saving grace was that the doc i previously saw didn't have any openings so I was able to use that to get off the phone. First of all... The actual treatment I received from Ridgeview was fine. Nice nurse, nice PA, prompt, professional treatment. But that is where it ends. I checked in on the app, which was a waste of time because it didn't work. Had to fill out a paper form at the office. Not a big deal, but it turned out to be a harbinger of what was to come. I arrived 10 minutes early at 8 am to find a young lady behind glass at reception who utterly ignored me for about a full minute while she typed into her computer. No "hello." No "someone will be right with you." Nothing. Finally another lady stepped in to check me in. To be fair, I did not have to wait long after check in and I was called into the exam room where everything went fine. The PA said he would write me some prescriptions and I told the nurse to send them over to Walmart. When I went to check out, I got no paperwork. No wound care instructions, no prescription instructions, no receipt, no nothing. Chalked this up to some "portal" thing or to some other paperless delivery method and I figured the information would be in my email when I got to work. Nope. Nothing. So I went to work and on lunch, about four hours later, I rolled over to Walmart to find that the prescriptions had not been called in. From Walmart, I spent almost a half an hour trying to get a human being to answer the phone at the Ridgeview and this is simply not possible at this office, even though there were more than half a dozen employees there during my visit. I tried to get the Walmart pharmacy technician to call Ridgeview, but the pharmacy tech said he couldn't get anybody at Ridgeview to answer the phone either. So, after wasting a lunch hour on the uncomfortable Walmart bench in a futile effort to get a human to answer the phone at Ridgeview, I went back to work without my prescriptions and tried to call again. It appears that the only way to actually speak to a human being (at the company that owns Ridgeview) is to press "1" for appointments. They don't have a human to handle existing patients but it seems like they hop all over new business. Using this method sends your call to Calcutta or Rio or somewhere else that is clearly not Lynchburg, and puts you on the phone with a very nice lady who speaks English as a second language well enough, but who can do nothing at all to help you as an existing patient. I complained to this lady, and she must have emailed Ridgeview, because a few hours later, I got a call from a nurse at Ridgeview, who explained that they do not call in prescriptions until the end of the day. It sure would have been nice to know that before I wasted an hour of my life, but I chalked the mishap up to miscommunication and moved on. So the next day, I went back to Walmart, where I found that 30 day supply of one of the prescriptions would cost nearly $1,000. This not being in the budget, I called to Ridgeview and left a message for the triage nurse (because, as I have already established, nobody answers the phone there) with my name, DOB, return phone number and the description of my problem. No call back. Just called again, left another message, but I do not expect a call. Looks like they will just ignore me entirely. Apparently, I will need to go back to Ridgeview in person and get ignored by the receptionist and stand there again until somebody finally decides to deal with me. read more

I was seen by Jessika Bettenhauss in May and was told I had ocular roseca on my eyelid. Prescribed a medication but condition got worse. I was seen by my eye Dr 3 weeks later and was diagnosed with basal cell cancer. Two years in a row they didn't get my husband surgery done. We had to go to a different dermatology because you kept turning my husband away because of his blood pressure. And that wasn't even the case. He had trauma due to his PTSD and anxiety and depression disorder. Thanks to the doctors up at ridgeview dermatology his cancer had gotten bigger and deeper. I would not take my dog to y'all or anybody else for that matter and you have already told a friend of mine not to go to y'all because of what you're done to my husband. Y'all are a huge disappointment. He went to a different dermatology and I was able to go back there with him the doctor at VCU told us that if he had went up there if it already been taken out but y'all had waited too long they had to go deeper and bigger because y'all wouldn't do it. Y'all didn't care. All y'all were talking about was his blood pressure and after he had told y'all that it wasn't his blood pressure it was his anxiety turn turned him down. Not worth your time and money! It's better off to get an appointment elsewhere. You will legitimately pay just to be given two recommendations on over the counter options and the receptionist is super rude when asked a question on something we were new to and not know anything about. Absolutely not. I can't stress this enough, this place was an absolute joke. We got billed a second time and paid a total of around $300 for 25 minutes we were there. When confronted about what had been done at the appointment they shrugged and were okay with wasting our time and money. read more

do not go to ridge view dermatology on timberlake rd lynchburg, va. i have been a patient there for several years. i had an appointment this morning; but no i didn't!!!!! i presented the appointment card to the receptionist (whom when i arrived was what appeared to be sleeping while the other was on the phone). i also got there ten minutes before my appointment and still had to wait another ten minutes!! i then was told my doctor was no longer there but they didn't offer me seeing anyone else there!! no phone calls or text messages about the situation!!! i owned more than one business in lynchburg, va and i tell you this is no way to operate!!!!! read more

This review is NOT directed for the office onTimberlake but rather their subsidiary office - Ridgeview Aesthetics on Enterprise Dr. in Forest. I went in for a consult for their fillers and was informed that I would see favorable results for the areas I was concerned about. After paying over $3,000 for my procedures I was not satisfied with the results and scheduled another appointment to express my dissatisfaction. I was told that was the best they could do and perhaps I should consider a face lift I was totally caught off guard with their solution but they offered nothing more except they were "so sorry". I'm the one who is so sorry as I'm out $3,000 with no results. read more

I will start by saying I love my provider at this office. However, scheduling has become a nightmare. I called to make sure my appointment was still on since I had no reminders from the office. When I called, I was informed that they had left me messages on 3 different numbers that my appointment was cancelled. After rechecking all three numbers, I can confirm that I received no messages. Now I can't be seen for months. I will be looking into switching offices. read more

Ridgeview moved their office in Farmville without notifying me so I showed up a their old location. Then I was treated by a PA ineffectively to remove a small lesion. When I asked for a simple 5 minute follow-up to provide the service I am being asked to pay for, they said "no". They charged me over $200 to spray a can of freeze spray on a small lesion. It did not work and now they want more to "finish the job." Stay away from this place, the $$$ is more important to them than providing good customer service. read more

I was a patient for 3+ years, and at first I thought they were very accurate in diagnosing skin problems. However, My belief in their qualifications has diminished. I have a cyst on my face that should be removed and one of the providers agrees; however I cannot obtain an appointment him. I am forced to see a provider that will not perform a needed procedure. Next problem: recently I noticed many sores on my leg and I could not control the problem, when I called Ridgeview I was referred to their Enterprise office. I was seen by a PA (I think), and she prescribed local ointments. In my opinion I needed a antibiotic. I did need an antibiotic because the sores grew larger and my leg was swelling. I called my PCP and got an appointment on the same day, and upon looking at the condition my PCP called in another MD, both agreed and a antibiotic was prescribed; one week later the condition was greatly improved. My PCP knew more about the condition than the beautiful PAs at Ridgeview. I will not go back to Ridgeview. read more

I saved up for three months then called to schedule. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the price was hundreds!! More!! The excuse? A former employee made a mistake!!! Dr. Cobbs and Jamie Martin are wonderful and their treatment is great!! I would give them 5 starts. But the support staff, especially in office, is is less than desirable. Never helpful and often rude. I am frustrated every single time I have to call for anything. We just don't have a lot of options in this area. Never expect to get assistance or resolve a medical or billing issue over the phone!! Zero stars for the practice in general because of this. read more

My son has been going to RidgeView since November as an acne patient. He is attending school in Lynchburg so we had to find a good dermatologist from afar. They have done wonders for him. His skin is so much better now. I'm so glad that he found RidgeView. read more

After reading several different review sites on this office I was a little hesitant about keeping my appointment. I was being seen for a wellness review of my skin and had a couple questions about certain areas. I was very pleasantly surprised by the nice (and clean!) reception area and the welcoming ladies at the front desk. I was immediately seen by a nurse followed by Mandy the FNP. Mandy did not rush through my appointment but made me feel as if she had all the time in the world for me, answering my questions and giving me a thorough exam. The only part I have not experienced yet is the billing but otherwise I would recommend this group enthusiastically. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and the office was pristine. read more

How many ways can you call a place a hot mess?! Don't go to Ridgeview. You rarely ever see the same staff there and rules change fron day to day. And billing? That's a nightmare! I had a provider pull back a bandaid to look at a spot and was charged hundreds for surgical fees! read more

Very poor service and terrible bedside manner. Was not given any relief for the issue that I made the appointment for and was not able to see a real doctor (after 3 visits!). I was over charged and would warn anyone who would consider going there to get your charges in writing prior to services being rendered! It was a horrible experience from beginning to end. This is a horrible practice. I went in to get a tiny wart removed off my finger and they wanted me coming back for several appointments. I couldn't afford to be paying $50 co-pay each time so I stopped going after 4 appointments. Incompetence comes to mind. They mailed me an astronomical bill and one of the appointments they double billed me. Seems to me that if they know you have insurance they will bill you however they please in order to get the most money out of that patient. At least that is how I felt I was treated. No regard for me as a person just all about getting paid. read more

After a frustrating ordeal explaining what I was coming in for (a type of folliculitis) with the scheduling, I was put into the system as an Acne patient. When I was seen, the physician's focus was on acne..I repeatedly said it wasn't why I was there-I have minor acne but nothing noticeable, I wasnt even there to be seen for my face!!- the physician kept listing off products to try all of which I have had in the past and didn't work and had reactions to some. I further explained why I was there and what 2 other doctors thought the type of bumps are (I've moved since I have seen my prior doctor otherwise I'd happily give back). She said that it was indeed folliculitis -obviously- which anyone with eyes could describe that any red bumps on the surface of the skin are indeed folliculitis. Pretty no brainer. I wanted help figuring out what type and why they were recurring and painful and received no greater details than a basic google search would have provided. Extremely disappointing!! I have experience in this field so this was definitely a less than half-applied physician attending. Not only disappointing because the office has a nice feel and looks great but frustrating to not have any solution! read more

Terrible health professionals. First visit , 80 minute drive time, time off of work for biopsy only, charged 50$. Second visit, 80 minute drive time, time off of work, for consult with surgeon, no surgeon seen. 50$. Office recommended third visit for same day in office surgery! I am sure it would have been more than a 50$ visit. Known cancer, wilful negligence. Interested in your money and not your health. read more

After my terrible experience on the phone with the secretary, the doctor who owns the company found out about how i was treated and contacted me personally. He apologized for the way I was treated and went out of his way to make my experience note-worthy. Must say that the owner of the practice is an outstanding person and took care of me and all my needs; even taking action to correct the wrong done with the secretary who took my call originally. Knowing the integrity that stands behind this business I would now recommend it to anyone. read more

In July 2017, I went to Ridge View Dermatology for my routine annual physical. During the exam the PA inadvertently found a tick attached to my back. She offered to pull it off with tweezers and I consented. She tossed it in the trash. I was flabbergasted when I received a bill 3 weeks later for my visit PLUS an additional $235 charge for "the surgical removal of a foreign object". Ridiculous. After 6 months of angst, a letter, phone calls, and meetings, they reduced the price but refused to remove it. The whole experience was horrendous. This office just runs poorly; I never felt valued as a patient. If Walmart treated their customers like Ridge View Dermatology, they would be out of business. Wish I'd never gone. read more

I gave this review 2 stars because I was helped with a skin condition that I had. It took several visits but it finally got resolved. However, I wish to warn people of the business practices of this office. I am a private pay individual. After my last office visit, I waited for the receptionist to get the 'code' to put into the computer so that I could pay cash for my visit. I was told it was $69. for the office visit. I later received a bill for a balance owed of $46. I was told by the billing person that the $69 was "an estimate". I find that odd business procedure. This was an office visit. I am not an insurance company. So, just be aware. read more

Worst place ever! Not professional on so many different levels. I had two appointments with them one at 2:00 and one at 2:10 for my daughter. After I told the receptionist my name she got on the phone and made a call to the back she kept saying I already know the answer, right after she hung up the phone she told me we can't see you today because your late. What it was 2:08 when I walked in the building and she spent two minutes on the phone so how am I late? Then she said your late because you need to fill out paperwork. Really I couldn't I do that while you see my daughter? This place needs to be shut down its sicken how I was treated. Please go to Charlottesville Dermatology as this place needs so serious help and the office manger also had i an attitude as well. The entire staff needs customer service courses. The medical attention that I received was outstanding - BUT - I had two insurance coverages. Claims were filed against both insurance companies. Both insurance companies paid as the primary carrier. I was told that I still owed $$$$ and my treatment was suspended because of billing issues (even though they had been overpaid by insurance). It has taken me 3 months, on my own without their assistance to resolve the issues with the insurance coverage. Meanwhile my skin cancer issues were put on hold (hope the skin cancer knows that!). I only hope that the physicians in this office are aware of how their staff treats the patients. read more

The doctors & PA here are great. Dr. Givan has removed 3 skin cancers and scars are minimal. Alexis Chantal is a wonderful PA and I would definitely recommend her. Very thorough in her evaluation and discussion with you. Time to see doctor is much better than when it was after it first opened. Nurses that are assisting are nice and polite. Front desk could be a little more personable, but my appointments are usually very early so perhaps they are not morning people :) read more

I give 5 stars to the doctors, Dr.Cobb and Alexis Chantal. They are both wonderful and very caring to their patients. The workers in the back, nurses and helpers, are also very nice and helpful, but the RECEPTIONISTS (all of them) definitely need a work shop on PERSONALITY when they greet the patients. I was there recently and you have to be there 15 minutes early, which I was, and I waited about 30 minutes and went to the window and asked the girl why I had not been called back. Her reply to me was we have other providers other than who I was seeing. Then the girl in the back wanted a copy of my prescription card to put in my record and another receptionist questioned her as to why and she looked at me like I had done it. I politely told her I did not ask her to copy the card and she was trying to be really nice at that time. This is the third time they have been rude to me and I was so glad when I read a review about them. They really need to learn to smile and at least be courteous to the patients, men and women. I noticed they were all smiles when a young good looking man would come in. It almost makes me want to find another dermatologist. read more
