Worst treatment center i have ever encountered. It all seems very much like a scam to me. I was calling to set up a appointment for them to take my daughter in for treatment and the guy on the phone was very rude and demanding. Seems very much like a scam because the gentleman on the phone continued to demand me to pay cash and saying he will pick it up from my house. Ended up taking my daughter to elijah house. I was very scared to go into treatment because this was my first time experiencing anything like this. I was picked up by a wonderful tech and we had a great conversation that put me at ease. I was still detoxing pretty hard, so the first week was quite a blur for me. I was so lucky to be living with an incredible group of women and we all stay connected as often as life permits. I ended up staying 6 weeks and I am glad I did because 4 weeks would not have been a long enough time to gain the tools and guidance through one on one therapy, process groups, mediation and I could go on and on. The unique part of ridgeview for me was the introduction to alternative therapies that may help through everyday life stresses. The counselors are so caring and really want you to succeed. I can't say enough great things about the staff and the people that work at corporate. I never felt alone and if I did feel anxious there was always someone there to speak with you privately immediately. Ridgeview is amazing. The things i learned about myself and what i suffer from and the tools i gained from the people there...staff and councillors...saved my life. I'm a real alcoholic and addict and without the ranch I'd either be in jail, dead, or running amuck somewhere.my kids wouldn't have the mom they do today. I was in a bad place in life and needed a treatment place i could trust. So i found Ridgeview through a referral service , not know what to expect i found out quickly it was a clean friendly environment with helpful staff. they have a huge living space with more then enough room for multiple clients, without feeling cramped. I had no experience with treatment centers, the positive experience i received from the counselors and staff helped me return home with tools i could use in the real world. learned a lot about myself and how life really should be lived. would highly recommend it to anyone who has any fears of going to a treatment center for the first time. one advice i can give is if you walk in with a sour attitude you will be wasting your time. read more

As a parent I cant express my gratitude to the staff of Ridgeview Ranch. This was a life changing experience for my son. My son stayed 90 days and was treated for his addiction. The patient to staff ratio was wonderful and the guided support are family received was amazing. The care for my son is still ongoing with the great after care program Ridgeview Ranch has provided. I recommend *most parts* of Ridgeview highly. It's high staff to client ratio, compassionate counselors, and useful groups made my experience there helpful in the difficult road to sobriety. The location was clean and private, the food was healthy and delicious (prepared by a staffed chef), and the time of the clients was respected. I also appreciated that Ridgeview brought its clients to outside AA meetings - much more helpful than the house speakers that other treatment centers bring in. If you are looking, however, for a good therapist to help you gain insight into your addiction, I would really consider SEEKING OUTSIDE PRIVATE THERAPY. While the counselor and case managers were great, the contracted therapist, Jon Rysk, MSW, was really sub par and the only part of my stay I actually found useless/detrimental. He utilized therapeutic modalities that were contraindicated (e.g., doing EMDR with clients in the matter of only a few weeks, thus bringing up deep trauma without having sufficient time - and a personal willingness - to talk about certain issues) that I, and others I have consulted in the professional world, agree is actually unethical. The therapist unfortunately was also really partial to certain clients (he would not even see me several weeks of my time there when I was supposed to have therapy 1-2x/week), had inappropriate boundaries with clients (I've heard even with clients outside of Ridgeview) and was kind of disliked at the house. If you can get outside therapy as a component to your treatment, I would seriously recommend Ridgeview! read more

I choose to write a review on this treatment center because it truly SAVED MY LIFE!! There is a huge recovery community in Pasadena and yet it is virtually impossible to find one that can offer the level of care that Ridgeview can. Not only do they have the most breathtaking location to house you as you physically recover from the nightmare most addicts have been struggling to survive day in and day out, but they also employ specialized counsellors and additional staff who truly care about you. Most addicts or alcoholics are grateful just to land somewhere safe where they can "dry out"; however, at Ridgeview each day is structured and designed to help the individual learn to build new life skills such as identifying when relationships become toxic, how to build healthy boundaries, repairing families, restoring trust, and learning how regain confidence again. After I completed 90 days inpatient, at the recommendation of my personal counselor and family I chose to continue on in Ridgeview's Sober Living home and attended their Intensive Outpatient Program for another 90 days. The personalized care I received, the relationships I made, and the friendships I was fortunate enough to have experienced are why I cannot thank Ridgeview Ranch enough for the life I have today. I have been to low bottom indigent treatment centers that are county funded and I have been to 5 star treatment centers where they claim to have "the cure" on television; without a doubt Ridgeview Ranch is the one treatment where all my needs were met, and my addiction found its solution. read more

This place is evil...It is, literally, the void in which all life ends. I experienced this place in 2013 November to 2013 December. It was my first stint in rehab; I did not know that their "therapy" included verbally berating a person. I do have proof, in the form of witnesses, that the supposed "professional" at one point exclaimed, "I am tired of your bullshit, (my name)". However, that was not what affected nor hurt me the most, but I feel it is necessary to report that level of disregard for appropriate psychological standards in dealing with patients who are in the most dark, somber, and fragile state of minds. What devastated me the most was how the place slowly but surely, removed all my self-esteem/self-confidence in my abilities to take care of myself. I was (keyword) a UC student who was successful in school studying psychiatry, focused on neurology. I used to believe in myself; now it has been 2 years since being there, and the memories still haunt me. The staff rendered me and all my accomplishments as moot just because I was/am (unfortunately that place did NOT help my sobriety; it made me hate the idea of sobriety) a Heroin/opiate dependent person. I now am on subutex maintenance, and addiction wise at least, I am staying away from opiates that ruined my life. Please do not read this as some addict bitching and moaning about a tough rehab. Read this as a warning. I became ever more despondent, ever more dependent, and ever more useless as a result of this place. After I forcibly, removed myself, I overdosed and locked myself up in my room for 4 months, scared of the outside world. I also find out that my roommate, that shall remain nameless (and if there is a god in this godless world may he rest in peace), who I bonded with and yes, I actually loved this dude. He died. Now addicts die because of their addictions; this is not new news. However, I can at least attribute some guilt to that treatment center. I mean someone died enough said. Look you guys, if you want someplace to fleece your money, I was fortunate enough to have good insurance PPO; the bill for 32 days was, and I DO NOT exaggerate $35,000. Seriously. So if you got deep pockets and want a no nonsense in your face experience which the pamphlet tries to obscure with the beautiful environment, then by all means go. They do their job. However, they lack finesse. At least for $35,000 you would expect a more "luxurious" rehab. This was not so. Some days we had no extra food because the staff just forgot to place the order. The pool they claim is accessible; in all those 32 days, I personally used it once for 30 minutes. Basically get up 7:30 am. 8 am - 12 pm almost (except for 15 minute break) non-stop "therapy" (whatever you want to name it). Then lunch for 45 minutes. Then 1pm - 4pm nonstop once more. You got 2 hours maybe to yourself if you were NOT busy cleaning up their property. Why was I paying $35,000 to do that? Yes, chores are important, but they treated us as the help in that regard. Then from 6 pm to 9:30 pm nonstop "therapy" and 1 AA meeting everyday (mind you this is the weekday schedule; weekends ain't that much better). I lost all semblance of responsibility. I had to "surrender" myself forcibly to god (which I am an atheist; it was wrong to force me to believe, and they had the gall to become upset with me about this issue). I now, save for not using opiates because of subutex/suboxone, have a messed up life. I still have not found a job nor felt a single moment of happiness. That place broke me. Please you guys, do not be misled. Know what the treatment place is before you select it. Yes, it is effective at 10% rate maybe less. I got that statistic from them. I am sour because I lost my confidence and lost my roommate. So unlike that place, I will admit that I am skewed; but someone needs to write this. It is a VERY intense program; if you are good with the principles of AA, then go. But if you expect some dual diagnosis (which the place falsely advertised then tells me I read an old pamphlet; I believe the social worker who sent me there, herself, thought it was dual diagnosis). So if addiction is your only problem, specifically for alcohol, then go. Others just be warned. I am not saying do not go. I am saying with ALL programs. Please READ, PLEASE ask questions. It's your life and your money; use both wisely. read more

Beutiful like a 5 star resort, this place is up in the hills of in the horse ranch community of Altadena. The site is huge, has to be at least 1 1/2 acres. The staff are great, very attentative and caring. They make you feel like you are at home and that life can be much better once you complete the program. I had a wonderfull experience here. I have a whole new outlook on life now, They are serious about helping you here. Its like everyone understands your situation so they are always very helpful. The food is also great, they have a fulltime gourmet chef, a very clean and luxurious environment, and beautiful landscaping. This was my second rehab. I've been to Clearview and they have nothing on Ridgeview ranch. I would reccommend Ridgview Ranch to anyone who needs this kind of help. read more

My husband was at Ridgeview a few months ago. They fed everyone well (had a cook come in, as well as shopping trips so you could buy your own food), had lots of meetings and individual sessions with the residents, and took them out to AA meetings so they could have roots in the community before release. Grounds are nice, place was clean and he's been sober for 5 months as of his writing. I was all through the property and the photos seem representative to me. read more

Ridgeview Ranch has been a life saving experience for our entire family. It is not the first rehabilitation center that our son has been in so we have experience to provide them with a fair rating. First, the staff has been courteous, professional and responsive at all times. The fact that the staff includes psychiatric care in addition to drug counselors was valuable so we could get a psychiatric dx and meds as well as treatment for his addiction. Rather than just focusing on the 12 steps, our son had access to individual and group therapy to work on both psychological and addiction issues. Initially, our son was hesitant to stay for three months but we now see the importance and value to more than a 30 day program. The treatment includes employment development skills including resume preparation and interviewing techniques as well as a place to job search. The atmosphere is very peaceful up in the foothills, with a beautiful view from the backyard. They aren't exaggerating when they say gourmet food! The clients are fed very healthy delicious meals and the accommodations are top notch! read more
