This was the first treatment center I have experienced, and let me tell you from the moment I walked through those doors my healing process began. I've been using cocaine heavily for the past 15 years, and pretty much was content living the remainder of my life doing so going through the motions. The entire staff were very professional, comforting, compassionate, loving and attentive. I wasn't expecting any of those qualities as I thought it was going to be like what I saw in movies, pretty much a jail. Boy was I wrong, I got to be so vulnerable and open it brought out emotions I needed to let sail. The facility and amenities were amazing and clean. I got to swim, work out watch YouTube Netflix and draw with paints color pencils on a daily basis. The food from the chefs were out of this world, I'm so picky of a eater, and everyday they made sure to ask me if what they were making was okay with me and if not made it to my liking of sauce, that was to generous and kind of the staff. They choose patients that fit the pieces to the puzzle, and as a result to that I can now say I have a bond stronger than some of my childhood friends. I expectations were to go in to treatment and go out with just the knowledge of learning how to become sober. I have gained so much more than my original expectations and for that I am getting goosebumps right now as I type. It's only been 4 days out of treatment. But the feeling of rejuvenation, the freedom of my mind, and self love for myself are feelings that no money in the world can buy. I know it's only been 4 days but the steps to healing is a process and not perfection. So step by step day by day I choose to becoming more healed. I thank God for creating a facility sent straight from heaven into the city of Pasadena to change the lives very lives he created to achieve the life that he truly has in store for me. I thought they were carrying when I first called they had everybody on the phone. Tell me it was gonna be they said they wouldn't take me for a 7 day. Detox if I wasn't on my meds. They said if I was gonna stay and pay for 30 days. They would let me in, they don't care all they care about is money. Don't use Elijah's house. They don't care all they care is how much you're willing to pay if you have cheap insurance. Sure out-of-pocket, they don't care. They want the money, and they really show their true colors. They wouldn't even answer my phone call after I was off the phone with them. Trying to beg them to take me no heart whatsoever. read more

This center has a very attentive staff that is always there for any of your needs, but also gives you space and freedom when you need it. You have freedom to roam about the house or go out to the yard any hour of the day. When you are staying there, it feels like home. You are welcome to buy your own food and cook in the kitchen if you don't want to eat the amazing food they provide. They will take you on trips to meetings, parks and stores as needed. They have more staff then they do clients. This ensures each client gets the attention they need, and no request or concern goes unanswered. read more

Incredible experience. Unfortunately I've had the pleasure of rehabs in the past. I'm confident and incredibly grateful to know this will be the last time such treatment will be necessary. My son went to Eh for treatment for Spice, used to be an over the counter synthetic form of marijuana. After departing EH, made friends with Meth heads and heroin addicts. Thereby being introduced to new forms of getting high. Now he's dead due to the drugs he had been exposed to. If you have problems with drugs, do more research than I did, there are much better choices. Many that are no cost solutions such as Midnight Mission, Salvation Army and Teen Challenge. Let me repeat. Do your own research and don't trust anyone in AA or NA programs that recommend EH. These people actually are affiliated with this institution and are paid for referrals. Find the right place for yourself or loved one. Response to Shafter: Hi Shafter, thank you for your condolences. I've updated my review to help others and point out a few things you may want to do some housecleaning with: In hindsight, had I done my own research instead of trusting the person that referred me to EH (and for anyone looking for a rehab facility), I'd recommend looking for the following qualities prior to making a decision. Find a facility that: 1. Is not coed. 2. Accepts a top tear insurance like Blue Cross PPO, you shouldn't have to pay $20k out of pocket on top of what your insurance covers. 3. Does detox at a different location, not where patients that are healing and being counseled after detoxing live and are trying to heal. 4. Drug test all staff members, our experience with the individual running EH2 (EH's sober living home) was a using drug addict himself. read more

This place saved my life. I was 5 1/2 months pregnant, no insurance, no where to go and Pam flew me out there and allowed me to stay there free of charge. The counselors were extremely knowledgeable and in recovery themselves so could easily relate and identify with me. The house was absolutely beautiful, clean, and nice big private rooms with my own bathroom. It was in during the pandemic and they made safety their number one priority. We got homecooked meals, and Jasmines mac n cheese is to die for!! I was so sick while detoxing I couldn't eat, and Pam went out of her way to go to the store and get me protein shakes, fruit, gatorade, things other treatment centers just wouldn't do. A year ago today I walked through those big doors of Elijah's House and began my road to a better life. At first glance you immediately breathe a sigh of relief the house is huge, clean and in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. I was warmly welcomed in with open arms by staff and residents alike. They are very efficient and pay attention to every detail whether it be your paper work, medications, food needs, you name it they are on it(within the rules of coarse lol). The beds were comfortable I slept very well. I thought the programs curriculum was very well put together it really brought me closer to myself and taught me so much that it would take a book to tell. The staff and residents became a family to me still today. If you refuse to be a hospital atmosphere like I did this is the place for you. It's really like your at your home away from home. Food is what it is, I liked just about everything but thats me and some people complained all the time, not everyone's palate is the same so they change it up a lot which I like. If you truly trust and buy into the program it works cause once you walk out those doors your choices are yours alone again and with the tools they give you, you will confidently start making the right ones. Someone I care about very much was is dire need of help and Elijah's house made it happen and took him in within days. The warm and calming energy of the house itself is apparent from the moment you walk in the door. First the house itself is very nice, big and well kept but the people are what make it feel like a welcoming home. The staff are all very professional and know what they are doing, but even more important is that they are personable and really care. The intimate family atmosphere goes a long way for making the recovery process a positive experience. Each client gets individual attention from very attuned and effective counselors (John especially) and they combine it with group sessions, classes and activities. It was so good to visit each week and see my loved one getting better and better and back on a positive track. Scam scam scam I was in Elija's house for thirty days. I was in very bad shape after an alcohol induced gran mal seizure and friends put me there through an intervention. They lied from the start:; they told me it was not a religion based program but I was coerced into holding hands and praying several times a day and attending a 12 step meeting every night. Although I could barely walk, Sena, the office manager assigned me the job of sweeping the stairs whenever she could. A waste of $15,000 I found a much better program for much less after leaving. read more

I had to come to a treatment due to court ordered but I chose this place out of 7 treatment centers in the area. I chose this place because how clean and organized it was when I visited and how intimate it was and how staff made me feel so comfortable and welcoming from just a visit. After being in this program for almost 4 months now and seeing all the different dinamics of clients and situations that presented with staff and the house I can honestly say wow. This treatment center really cares across the board, staff and owners! They go out of their way to help clients through all situations and they keep the facilities so up to top shape. They are open to suggestions and they alter programs and group activities to make sure it is always beneficial to all of the clients and are so passionate about helping, it's just so refreshing and so beautiful. This program has helped so many people that are in great place in life now...... ever since I have been here. I would recommend this place for everyone in a heartbeat.
