Today I attended the WeHo Pride Parade Watch event at Creative Recovery LA. The space is airy and…read morewelcoming, the atmosphere feels not only inviting but well lit with natural sunlight and furnished with chic modern decor. Everyone there was very nice and made my friend and I feel right at home. It's on the second floor above the Fresh Corn Grill so it wasn't too hard to find. As we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly pup. We removed our shoes as everyone else had, and entered the main room. There was plenty of tasty breakfast goodies to snack on as folks introduced themselves. The space was clean and smelled of sage which felt rejuvenating. We met the owner, Cory, who invited us to a sound bath session. Some of the folks sitting at the tables let us know to bring tissues... I was not expecting to need them and did not wear waterproof mascara that day, I still grabbed the tissues and went on. The sound bath room was equipped with comfy pillow like seats on the ground. The room had acoustics that transformed me into state where I felt like my seated body was one with the music. As the sounds continued I felt a deep connection with myself that I could not describe, which made me glad I listened and grabbed those tissues. I am thankful for Cory and the staff here, that sound bath was the best thing that's happened to me all year. It was better than any meditation or reiki session out there. I had an amazing experience at The Villa and can't recommend this treatment center enough. From the…read moremoment I (nervously) walked in, I could tell that the staff genuinely cared about what I was going thru and wanted me to get well. They made me instantly feel welcomed and comfortable, and throughout my stay I grew even more appreciative for the compassion and skill level of the staff. Their approach is very holistic and expands far beyond just the 12 steps. We learned meditation, breathing exercises, yoga, acupuncture, among many other things. The therapists are the best I've ever spoken with. I had 2 assigned to me including a trauma therapist who helped me work through issues I had never really spoken about with anyone before, helping connect my childhood trauma with my substance abuse issues, and giving me the tools to deal with it. The house is very spacious and comfortable with a giant pool and hot tub, and we had time to relax and match movies and hang out. I laughed a lot with the other clients and had more fun than I ever would have imagined in rehab and made new friends that I've continued to stay friends with after leaving. Beyond just getting clean, the Villa gave me the breakthroughs and tools I needed to stay sober and taught me how to enjoy life, laugh, and have fun without needing alcohol and for that I'm forever grateful. I believe you can have success in treatment in a lot of places if you want it and choose to trust the process and listen to what the counselors are saying!! Which is our biggest problem we get a few weeks clean and we are back to wanting to do things our way!! I really enjoyed my time at Hollywood Hills and I believe they give everyone the tools and the knowledge to stay clean but that's just step one in a 30 day stay! They then set you up to go to a sober house and do IOP which is just as vital to your recovery!! They offer all these steps here at Hollywood hills and you see people being very successful if they can get out their own way and listen to what the staff is recommending for them!! If you do that and trust the process you will and can stay sober!! I was sober for many years after Hazeldon and am now on 6 plus months sober from Hollywood hills and there sober house in Northridge and am back home with my family enjoying life once again!!
