Great old school pool. It's very family friendly with lots of kids, but they accommodate grownups as well. We joined because much of our community swims there. For many visiting this review, you are probably wondering if the benefits are worth the cost with many great free options in the DMV. Adelphi provides a great community with regular family-friendly activities and events. They also offer amenities like swim lessons and a swim team for kids. The hours extend beyond the typical pool (open to 9:30pm), they allow you to bring in and order food or access to their grills, they have a good amount of lounge chairs, and even when it is crowded, it is not overwhelming with all of the space and sections that the pool offers. Staff is also friendly and do a great job balancing safety with fun. It is not easy to get to and depending on your frequency of visits, the cost probably comes out to around $20-30 per person per visit (assuming about 2 visits per open week). The amenities and community are nice and it's up to you on whether you will visit frequently enough to justify the cost. read more

Great brand new pool. Just remodeled. Nice members. Lots of grills. Can let the kids go do their own thing as it's fenced in and parents can socialize and have a few drinks. Our fourth year as a member. My daughter's school friend is a member so they meet up and go do their own thing. Great pool. Plenty swim lanes, two diving boards and a slide. We love the Adelphi pool! The recent renovations are amazing and were no small feat: 2 kiddie pools, a huge new pool with more lap lanes, new bathrooms/pool house, a brand new slide, and two diving boards! This pool is very well run and has a chill and positive vibe. After being members for three years, this is our favorite place to be in the summer. read more

Steer clear of Adelphi pool! It's a total racquet. In the summer of 2020 the website was offering "bond/share Membership" which was what our family paid for and the membership tier we joined at. For the last two years when I logged on to the Adelphi Pool website my Account type read" Bond/share Family Membership" and I had frequently been referred to as a "bond/share" member in emails from the pool -like last spring I received a number of emails in April reminding me that dues must be paid by May 1st so as to "avoid share/bond forfeiture" which only makes sense because we were "bond/share" members. Then when we moved out of state and I reached out to have my share returned to me they were like " even though you bought a 'bond share membership' and we've been addressing you as a bond/share member for years we actually in this super obscure part of the bylaws said we would no longer offer shares so actually we're not giving your money back. " I tried to set up a phone call and then they started ghosting me. Talk about false advertising. Their financials are really fishy and there's such little transparency. Not to mention they significantly up the membership cost EVERY YEAR which has a direct effect on the diversity of the community - which is basically why there is none. Everyone looks alike. Everyone thinks alike. It's basically Stepford. Find a pool that's less privileged and your family will have a way better summer. read more

Our grown sons grew up at this pool and we've continued to be members, bringing our granddaughters when they're visiting and going ourselves as often as we can. Adelphi Pool is a hidden gem, great for families with children, but also for older folks who want to sit and read, visit friends, enjoy dinner (brought in or delivered) at a picnic table, or swim laps. A water aerobics class is usually offered every summer at a low cost. There is a snack bar, there are different events programmed throughout the summer, pool can be rented for birthday parties. We spent our childhood here. What a great place to burn off boundless kid energy in the sweltering heat. We would even walk from our house to the pool, probably a two mile walk one way. read more

Thursday night Charlie's Cafe offers salmon burgers, as well as beef burgers and dogs. The welcoming Adelphi swim team provides daily training and fun competition for all ages. I love this pool--so pretty, set high on a grassy hill and such a friendly atmosphere. We've been members for about 8 years and my kids count down the days every May. Movie nights in the pool and under the stars, crab feasts, swim-a-thons for charity--it's such a marvelous community. The pool is really unique for an outdoor pool--Olympic sized length. Swim team has been great to my kids. They have made many friends through it and now they're excellent, strong swimmers. But personally, I love the evenings there best. When the sun is just setting and the lights are on in the tranquil pool and there's a gentle breeze through the trees--it feels like I'm on a vacation, 10 minutes from home. read more
