The unit needed re-leveling, the jacks were not adequate, and had been adjusted to their maximum, and to top it off the entire unit needed the vapor barrier. I called for an appointment which was set immediately. Ramiro and Kevin came out, evaluated my situation and provided me with an honest full explanation of what I needed, and most importantly what I didn't need that would save me money. We received the estimate, a good fair price, and we agreed to schedule the repairs. Cynthia, the office manager, was considerate of the time crunch and managed to get me in quickly. Kevin and his crew came out on time and started. He was very thorough and continued to check the re-leveling with a laser level until the unit was perfect. Kevin and Fabian re-checked all of my doors and made slight adjustments, and the doors worked perfect. Now, understand I've been a contractor for 47 years. I know construction and know when sub-contractors know their job. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of material, and workmanship. Kevin and his crew were remarkably experienced. Cynthia was compassionate and attentive to my needs, and Ramiro was professional and considerate. I will be doing more work in the area and will be hiring Home Tech again. If you are in need, give them a call, you won't be disappointed.

We also had PCI do the foundation work for our RV port and that turned out great! It went so well, we decided to hire them to do the foundation for another carport. That turned out to be a disaster. The fact that the owner gave my husband grief for asking questions and his high and might attitude toward him, should have been the indicator that things weren't going to go well. He literally told my husband to stop watching them! If he didn't know what he was doing, he wouldn't be in business! Roy was very condescending and had a chip on his shoulder. By the time the job was done, (or so we thought) Roy told us that pretty soon, contractors like him will be like doctors (very expensive). A week later, the crew showed up to erect our steel carport and couldn't even begin!! Why? Because ALL of the column's bolts were set in the concrete wrong. By the time PCI decided to show up to check out what was wrong, TWO WEEKS LATER, he literally tried to blame my husband!! PCI made the templates and blamed my husband for not checking that they were correct. That was PCI's job!! So, the nightmare continued for another 6 weeks of back and forth and special inspections in between. I firmly believe that if we were General Contractors and not homeowners, Roy would have been more responsive and more respectful. Hire at your own risk.

The good: I had a 17.5'x24.5' pad put in for a garage. The final measurements for the poured pad…read morewere right on. The pad itself looks great. There is a small crack running the length of the pad but I know that there are many things, beyond the contractor's power to control that can cause cracks, and I understand small cracks are very common so no issue with that. Jose was very good with communicating back and forth with me. He was here when he said he'd be here and stayed on track with timelines he gave me. Jose knows and has worked with the Dewey-Humboldt building inspector (who's very nice) before so he handled a lot of the communication and required inspections with the building manager (I didn't have to do anything which was nice). Jose used the plans the garage company sent to me for the pad requirements and ensured that the pad met all the standards required. The bad: There wasn't really anything bad. The only minor issue we had was that I'm not overly familiar with everything to do with putting in a concrete pad. Jose's initial quote was for a pad pour only, and it was a good price for that. The quote ended up changing a few times as he figured out my actual needs and because of the specifications detailed in the plans I received from the garage company. Bottom line: I'd use J's Footings again, without hesitation. I'll just do a better job of making sure we're on the same page for the next project from the beginning.

Alonzo took the time to thoroughly answer my questions and explain the structural issues contributing to the foundation movement. I was genuinely impressed with his technical knowledge and ability to clearly articulate the root causes of settlement, as well as the engineering principles behind the repair system being implemented. He demonstrated a strong understanding of load transfer, soil conditions, and long-term stabilization methods. It's refreshing to see someone who not only understands the installation process but can also confidently explain the "why" behind it. Based on this interaction alone, I would feel very comfortable trusting his expertise on any foundation-related work. I'll be contacting the company for work on my home and would like Alonzo to work on it specifically . Thank you

I had a great experience getting the free estimate from AFS. Due to a miscommunication, I missed…read morethe initial appointment. David S., the estimator, was very understanding. We talked on the phone. I had many questions. He took the time to answer them all. With rescheduling, the office staff were always friendly and accommodating. David S. was knowledgeable and informative, but never sales-y. After the inspection, he emailed a report with the measurement data, a diagram of the home indicating where repairs would be made and several options. No repeated calls or pressure to schedule work soon. The foundation stabilization and repair options included installing helical and push piers, underpinning, the poly filler, stem wall patches and repairs. There was a lot offered and the overall total was very costly. I do understand I'm not just paying for getting the piers installed, but all the knowledge, time and coordination to get there. After the initial freak-out at seeing the cost, I know I can discuss with David S. what parts are critical and how to reduce the total. There were various degrees, like a base package versus something that had more features. Some items AFS would be contracting out, so there's potential to save if I hired those contractors directly. I believe the specialty of AFS is installing piers. If you only need foundation patching, you might search for structural concrete specialists. As some reviewers noted, utilizing AFS will be much more expensive in those situations. Ask your contact. If you're a homeowner reading this, you're probably worried about some things you've seen in your home. The last thing you need is the added stress of someone trying to get you to sign off on a project. Of course, if it was urgent...fortunately, my home isn't in danger of falling down tomorrow. I'm grateful AFS provided a no-cost, no-pressure assessment. David S. provided the data for me to make an informed decision. He didn't use any and fear or pressure tactics. When hiring a contractor, I want one that I can have a collaborative conversation with. I can't speak to the installation itself, but if I decide to go with piers, poly fill or underpinning, I feel good reaching out to David S. to further discuss and make changes to the solution. I haven't decided on what to do with the foundation. There are more urgent home repairs. I also wanted to make sure I found root causes and to make sure those were addressed. Something I learned through this process: if you're seeing signs of foundation settlement, look for areas that are wet by pushing a stick around the perimeter of the house. Even if unused, sprinkler systems, irrigation or service lines can have water leaks that will cause the soil to expand and shrink. Those lines need to be repaired or if unused, capped off. I have unused sprinkler lines running right along the back of the house! Oh, after scheduling the appointment, AFS sent a book about foundation issues. It cost a bit to send. I support reducing waste. If you don't want the book, I wonder if you can ask them not to send and email a link instead!

No one walked the job before to tell us what they would be doing and what to expect. I asked multiple times about what floors we had to remove and confirmed by the company. Turns out we didn't have to remove the $1000s of dollars worth of flooring. The sales guy was on vacation and no one would call me back. This was so poorly done and they didn't clean up the debris or trash. I would think a "family" owned company would do the right thing. Since the owner is not understanding, I did remove my floors per your guidance and then it turns out I did NOT have to remove it per Lee Blodgett, the project manager. There are cracks not filled and no one confirmed the job was done no permit approval either. Also it does not say to remove flooring it says "owner accepts that drilling will be done into floors if not removed." The problem is Tim said to remove it all and Lee says only a few planks had to be removed.

After ten years, the coating color in front had faded considerably from the sun and needed a refresh, and we asked them to also place the overlay on our pool deck which required that we drain our pool. The work went without a hitch and they finished in about week and we were relatively pleased with the work. However, after the contractors left, we noticed a thick layer of concrete dust had settled into our pool from Western's grinding work. When we asked Western to come out - specifically, we asked the owner, he was clearly annoyed - as if it was our responsibility to clean their mess. That began the spiral downward. Western came out early Saturday morning with a spray washer and shop vac. When they loosened up the dust into what was now a concrete slurry, they simply dumped the white slurry over their own concrete work and into the ground surrounding the pool. It was a muddy, white mess. Then, while cleaning the overlay, we noticed that it sounded like the overlay was coming unbonded from the concrete below. To help Western with this, we sent a brief video clip and photo of the unbonding area. Western then ignored our emails. When we pressed further, we stressed that if Western felt it wasn't an issue, that we wanted to hear that. Instead, the owner came out to our home, listened to our concerns and then said, "you told me to come out here for this!" (note, we didn't "tell him come out" we simply asked his opinion of it.) He shouted that we were wasting his time for a "$3,000 job" (we paid almost $4,000) and he didn't touch the issues. Unbelievable. When a customer has a reasonable concern and asks questions regarding the job in a respectful manner, you treat them like garbage based on the dollar amount of the job? We will never, ever recommend Western Design Coatings to anyone and recommend that all Yelp users steer clear of this unprofessional company owner.
