Our dog is a big boxer and trying to wash him at home is super difficult. He either jumps out of the bath or runs away from the hose in the backyard, either way it is a total pain in the you-know-where. The Happy Pet Company has a bath with nice high sides and plenty of washing settings in the hose. It is operated with coins so make sure to bring plenty of gold. It generally costs us around $8 to give him a thorough scrubbing and about $5 for a lazy wash. The shop itself also sells dog treats, dog food, toys and bedding. They offer dog washing and grooming as well but this is a little expensive for my budget. Be careful if you come here with a big dog as there are often dogs all over the place. Our dog loves 'socialising' with other dogs but sadly others don't like being pinned to the floor with a big paw. For this reason I always go early in the morning to avoid the crowds.

Located in a beautiful green spot that backs onto the river the dogs are very well looked after. The staff are attentive and friendly and do a lot to make sure the dogs have a lot of social time. There is also a vet that visits regularly as well as a groomer so you can have your dog trimmed and looking pretty on your return. On hot days there are little doggy pools for the pups to stay cool in and trips down to the Yarra at the back of Lyndon Park are not uncommon. There is also a fire plan in place in case bush fires occur in the area. Lyndon Park is a lovely kennel where you know your dogs will be looked after with love and kindness.

So popular in fact that you need to book a month in advance at least, more during peak periods like Christmas. If you do manage to get a booking, you will be impressed by how clean and fluffy your pooch looks when you pick him up. The trade mark bandanna around his neck is also a cute touch. If you need to leave Fido there for the day after he has been groomed, there is no problem as there is a dog minding service for just such an occasion - capacity is limited though so you will need to book ahead. Murphy's also sells high end dog food, bedding, collars, treats and toys.

Met up with one of the groomers from Whoopsys, Cosi who was shocked at the state of his coat after a few weeks when the hair has only grown back in patches leaving patches still bald. She told me to call and make an appointment and she would fix it up but when I called I spoke to someone who was quite rude, said they had no appointments until the new year and that it was normal for it to grow back like that. I told her I didn't want him shaved again and she said it would be the same so I told her to forget it because in the middle of summer I didn't want his skin exposed as he would burn. Not impressed and I'm sure Cosi won't be told that I had followed up and called.
