In addition to apples, you can pick pumpkins and buy squash. Plus there are plants and herbs in the spring and summer. It is so lovely on the property, and in the adorable building that houses the apples and other goodies for sale. The ladies that man the register are really friendly and relaxed. They are happy to answer your questions - and believe me, there are lots once you start finding apples you've never seen before! They even gave me a tiny apple to sample and it was so juicy and flavorful that I walked back home to get my wallet and bought a bunch of them for a couple of friends that were hosting me for dinner. The whole front area is kind of like a cool DIY play area. There's a basketball hoop, there's an area where kids can smack on different sounding metal objects. There's a corn feed area where there's little diggers and scoop trucks to play with that. You can meet the farm chickens and they sometimes event host events (we went during a popcorn time which was super cool to try different popcorn seeds as well as spiced popcorn with plenty of variety!) There is an area where you can pay to slingshot apples at a target in the middle of a field. There's a corn maze that we weren't brave enough to go in and the apple picking was really great. The property is attractive and has stuff for kids to do. They have a couple different stores along with their orchards. I didn't really spend much time in the stores and was a bit surprised by the prices for apple picking. But I will say they had really nice empire apples and I got mostly those. They have others too but they were mostly picked over already as the empires had just at been opened up for picking. Mostly I was happy to get out to Wisconsin away from the boring Chicago Southwest suburbs, into less populated areas. I made a pie with some of the apples and it was really good. I would probably come back.

We didn't realize that there were so many different varieties and we didn't realize how big this place is. We explored the orchard and took a look at all the animals they have. They have a beautiful little pond with a creek. They even have a bunch of farm equipment throughout the farm with information on what it is and how it's used on a farm. Really cool! He runs a smaller farm on the same road as the much larger one next door but what he doesn't have in a large scale enterprise, he makes up for in quality, friendliness and honesty. I love the size of your farm (walkable and manageable with a little one). With two adults and a toddler, we picked in less than an hour, which was great timing for our kiddo. You also had a good system with friendly staff directing people on where to pick and how to mark where they stopped. We certainly will be back next year (and possibly sooner for other farm events).
