We…read morecame here to celebrate her 2nd year anniversary, rented the top floor, which Reno calls the honeymoon suite. WOW! Relaxing, romantic, private! The perfect getaway we both needed. -Private balcony with beautiful ocean view, satellite TV, kitchen to prepare our meals whenever we wanted to, so quiet we could hear the waves and ocean breeze when napping in the living room. -The bed in the bedroom is a little on the small side (full instead of Queen it seems like?), but it was very comfortable. -shower with hot water that came and went: normal in rural Puerto Rico, so get used to it! It's all part of the adventure ;) besides, it's too hot most of the time anyway -CLEAN, comfortable space for up to 4 people thanks to the 2 futons in the living room: but glad we had it just for the 2 of us ;D -LOCATION LOCATION: it can't get any better than this. SO many restaurants within a short walk or ride! Our favorite though was a bakery in the nearby town of AGUADA, called PANADERIA EILEEN: just follow 413 until you see it. DELICIOUS breakfast, CHEAP sandwiches for lunch, good coffee. The best! Also, Tamboo, just a few meters away from Puntas Tree House, has unbelievable views from the top floor and great cocktails -Reno, the owner, is EXTREMELY responsive: despite being quite the busy guy. Whenever we had issues with the Wi-Fi, where to find the keys/place them, etc., he always got back to us promptly. IN SHORT, our first time in Rincon and 2nd-year anniversary were unforgettable thanks to Reno and the Puntas Tree House. We can't wait to get back: even though we might buy our own piece of heaven in this town! ;D

Then we proceeded to our table for dinner. We waited 20 minutes for water, then had to remind the waiter for our wine we had ordered (a 30 minute wait) and then to top that off, our main course arrived an hour later. There was absolutely nothing special about this experience. No one on the staff tried to make up for any of this. We will not likely return. What a disappointment.

It's the largest and has a walk out balcony that ends cliff side and has lounge chairs with a view of the beach below. The walk in showers are fantastic. The oversized private hot tub is great . The grounds are nothing short of phenomenal. By far the nicest in all of Isabella. Sunsets galore and ocean views that go on for miles. In summary : If you want to come here and not interact with anyone, order room service and hang out at your 1000 sq ft suite, take dips in your private hot tub and then wash off with open doors to the nature under a rain head shower .....then this place is phenomenal. I would come again, but only under these circumstances. Let's first note that I read all the reviews on the property before I booked here. I chalked the negative ones up to just "temperamental guests"..... Unfortunately, I was proven wrong. During our stay I tried to continue to tell myself that this is island life", "things here are on island time" ...."they probably have a hard time with retaining of employees" (among other excuses). ---- But then I came to realize, I'm still paying 1000$ usd a night to stay here plus meals...That being the case - it's not acceptable at any level. I'm tired of making excuses for bad service in the service industry and continually lowering my expectations so as not to ever get upset. Negatives: 1.) Child friendly!?!: (why ? .... this is a golf resort and has no childcare or child amenity's). We couldn't seem to get away from crying babies at dinner every night. This isn't acceptable when we paid over 100$-250$ for two people at each sitting to eat. Yet Management just accepts this !?!? Night 1: we had to watch a father change a dirty diaper on the golf course in front of our ocean view at dinner! Yumm! Night 2: we had to move tables to escape the same crying infant. Take your crying baby back to the room! Annoying ! Night 3: we had to ask for another table to make sure not to sit next to the same baby at diner (again crying). And yet again... the father proceeded to change the diaper again on a communal sofa right behind us at the restaurant ( Situations like this are not stellar experiences while eating lobster and steaks by the ocean.) 2.) Dining: Each meal takes at least 2 hours from start to finish even if you order your entire meal the minute you sit down. That being said, the food is amazing. Each dish was expertly prepared. Some of the waitstaff was great (Jessica) but most were not. Some even had AirPods in their ear while serving us. Their pizza oven was broken for our entire stay due to a bad part. (Disappointed to say the least since as their website boasts about their amazing pizzas). Sometimes we went to the golf shop restaurant... (to escape the 1.5 hour or more sit down experience at the main dining restaurant) and then more problems... ultimately, we were forced to order what we got the last time we came to eat at the pro shop (since none of the employees could find the menu ....---Not acceptable for paying 1000$ per night !--- 3.) Our arrival : we were told our driver would take us to our room and show us the property and explain how everything worked. ---- He said nothing! And didn't show us the property. We were left to decipher how the resort worked, ---just a bad start. Not acceptable for 1000$ per night! 4). Cleaning : if you call the maids, they will take all day to come. They will enter and replace towels but not clean or make the bed. Then, You will have to call at least twice more for them to actually show up and change the sheets and clean. I've had better housekeeping at a Holiday Inn. 5). Room service: The one time we ordered they brought the wrong food. 6). Management: Basically, You will be told different things by different people. Nothing is consistent.- why did you not sit down with us and go over everything? Especially since you asked if we were first time guests? Let me teach you how to manage the new guests : mention how to book massages, where the fitness room was, how there was an Easter brunch on Sunday, how there was live music for our entertainment on Weekends ....and so on and so on... :( but we got none of this. --not acceptable for 1000$ per night- 7.) Upon leaving: the manager had to ask us our casa number to check us out. (crazy since she was the same person who checked us in) -really made you feel not special. Also, she was basically just a human credit card machine reader. She didn't ask us anything about our stay or how we liked it.... It just makes you feel great....like you want to come again. (especially considering you just spent what most Americans spend on a car to stay there for 7 days)! Can you Please fix this resort!!! But no server or employee of any kind came to our table for over an hour after we got our drinks. We waited and waited and when we decided to give up and go elsewhere then finally a server came. My bf ordered the lobster mofongo in some kind of soup and I got red snapper in a plantain crust. Then again we waited and waited. All amazingly fresh (we watched the chef purchase a huge tuna fish while we were eating dinner, it became the next night's sashimi highlight). It's very small (picture the deck around a backyard pool, plus a bar...yup, that pretty much sums it up -- oh, plus a little shack that constitutes the kitchen facilities). They have a really pretty lower "level" that includes more seating and the whole atmosphere everywhere there is quiet, laid back and romantic. Tip: The bar is "separate" from the food and you have to go to the bar yourself to grab any alcoholic bevs. They have a nice selection of sake plus your expected "full bar" offerings (don't forget to drink a Medalla!). Rincon's whether can be unpredictable which is why it is such a hot surfing destination. That being said if you can't be out on the beach or are not an avid surfer you really need a good place to hang out if this is your beach vaca. I could be at the LoveShack for weeks and read in a hammock overlooking crashing waves and enjoying the salt air breeze. On to the Sushi bar. It is NOT easy to find healthy food to eat in rural Puerto Rico. Sorry. It's like rural America. Fried, buttered, breaded and usually the only greens you will see are the garnish IF you are in a good restaurant. The Sushi bar is Sushi and you just can't go that wrong there in my opinion. They have a TON of choices and lots of them vegetarian. The Mango sushi roll is hard to get because it's seasonal, but it's the house favorite and easily their best dish. Lobster rolls are great, all of the sashimi is great... I think they get most of their fish fresh daily from the local fishermen. The Bar is totally hopping with laid back surfers and wanabees (like me) creating a fun atmosphere at night surrounding a neon lit pool and giant projections of surfers on a screen. It's kind of a tiki vibe on mushrooms which makes total sense in the context of where you are. Pools beach *resort* is an AWESOME home base for anyone looking to have a good time in Rincon. Especially if it is your first time. It's a great jumping off point and all of the staff will tell you where to surf, where to swim, what good places to eat are and where the best swells are that day and will hook you up with lessons or call the horseback riding place for you or whatever... All with that expat, dropout, laid back happy attitude you get when you decide to just kind of check out of the rat race and live your life. Not sure why as April is shouldering peak season in Puerto Rico. That said, it was nice to have peace and quiet while relaxing in the pool which we had to ourselves for 2 days! On the down side, there was little to no staff. The bar remained closed the entire time. MINUS ONE STAR We did enjoy the Thai restaurant one evening! The food was really delicious. We had the Pad Thai with shrimp, the spicy papaya salad and chicken curry. Highly recommend this place as a lot of locals were in. This was the one time we did see a lot of people. ADD A STAR The room was nice and had a nice enclosed outdoor patio where we could hang out and dry our clothes after a day at the beach. The beds were comfortable although VERY high! ADD ONE STAR The resort grounds were very well maintained and I enjoyed strolling around taking pictures of the property and all the pretty flowers! Definitely a pretty place. Loved the lookout area that also served at the Thai restaurant. ADD ONE STAR No other food was available for breakfast or lunch but they did have a nice coffee station with many choices of flavors syrups and creamers/milks and teas! ADD ONE STAR They also had a game room for the kids to enjoy. There were also many large iguanas roaming the property where our room was. It was fun sitting outside our door watching them climb the trees! Parking was on a very steep hill across from the Inn. I loved sitting there with my coffee and reading my book. Our suite was the "Banana", which had a fairly large Jacuzzi. I didn't think I would be interested in soaking in warm water (hello, Caribbean!), but after a morning of diving and some time spent in the cold pouring rain, it sounded perfect, and it was extremely relaxing. It was a great preparation for my afternoon nap. We booked the LemonTree over the internet - the website was very web 2.0, showing real time booking status of each room. The online booking was itself painless. When we arrived in the afternoon of our first day in Rincon, we found an envelope with our name on the office door, greeting us and giving us directions to our room. We may not have ever seen our hosts at all if Martin hadn't gone to the public area to use the grill one night. The couple who run the place were both quite friendly. Speaking of dinner, we cooked all our meals in our room. The kitchenette was pretty tiny, and one of our burners didn't work at first (Martin reconnected it pretty quickly). But we managed to make some decent meals. Rincon has at least one decent-sized supermercado about fifteen minutes from the LemonTree, where we stocked up on groceries. There are multiple beach toys provided, including noodles, boogie boards, and floats for the kids. There really isn't much beach, though - it appears to have probably washed partially away over time. So there isn't a lot of room to lounge on the sand, but the water is easily accessed. I would love to come back to the LemonTree. Next time we'll probably trade the Jacuzzi for the suite with the larger kitchen. But either way I know I will be happy.
