Truly can't express enough how cool our stay here was! I was so excited about this splurge and the experience absolutely exceeded my expectations. We booked the "run of the house" deal so we didn't get to choose our room, but we totally lucked out and got assigned the Tropicalia suite. The suite was SO cool - intimate, thoughtfully decorated, and stylish. We had our own dedicated LARGE outdoor space and the outdoor shower was so fun! The food at the hotel was excellent. We are vegetarian so the all-veggie/vegan menu was a huge plus for us. We had breakfast there a few days and also walked around the neighborhood (felt very safe!) and explored local restaurants. The matcha latte at Dreamcatcher is honestly, to date, probably top 3 best matchas I've ever had. Super smooth! All of the staff at the hotel were incredibly nice and accommodating. Overall this was a unique, memorable stay in a super cool area, with easy beach access and easy access via car to the rest of PR if desired. I genuinely enjoyed my stay here. It's beautiful inside here (in your room & outside of your room). When you have a moment, check out my photos. Each of the plants, the sculptures, the statues, the beautiful hanging lanterns, and the mirrors, even the wallpaper are made to allow you explore your senses. I feel so happy just sitting in the downstairs area looking at the singing birds, small lizards, and the roaming cats. There are multiple activities available which are at an extra cost at the hotel like salsa class, yoga class, an hour massage, and rainforest tours. I love the sound of the coqui at night and the view of the sunrise in the morning. It's generally quiet and most people keep to themselves. They have breakfast available, vegan and vegetarian options from 8 am until 1 pm. The breakfast is made fresh and tasted great. There are beach towels and shared folding chairs for the visit to go swimming nearby. Our hostess and front desk staff were all friendly and approchable. The housekeeper allowed me to feel welcome as well & knocked before entering and also asked us if she could help us which was really kind and considerate. I felt heat exhaustion and needed a nap so I felt like I needed to sleep in and used a sign "still dreaming" which has on the other side "out traveling" one day after a full packed day of adventures. There's a store downstairs with essential oils, aromatic soaps, natural deodorant, light clothes and some accessories in case you need. I noticed snacks and fruit downstairs and also free hot coffee available. It's close to the beach condado, but you'll need a car to get to Luquillo beach, el Yunque rainforest, Caguas botanical garden, and Laguna grande in Fajardo for the bioluminescent bay. It is walking distance to yummy restaurants: Kasalta, coffeetera, Cueva de mar, tia Dora, and Lela's. Some things to keep in mind: There are teeny mosquitoes and mini bugs that bite in the outdoor spots. Bring bug spray. The hotel is located in a spot where you need to leave through a main gate on calle Santa Ana after 4 PM. The hotel is meant for couples or a small group of close friends, not deliberately kid friendly. There's more focus on adults and events geared towards those 21+. I would recommend that you choose to go elsewhere if you have a child who is under 10. I definitely would recommend this hotel to others. It is steep but it's worth it! read more

Very pretty boutique hotel! BUT we did not expect the bathroom and shower to be outside of our room. I would recommend this place for individuals who like glamping or are comfortable with lathering in bug spray before they go to bed. The beautiful door did not close off the bugs from getting into our room. We spent most nights taking a shower in the communal bathroom so we weren't eaten alive. Not what we expected after what was spent for a week stay. The staff were so lovely. They made so many great recommendations and helped facilitate all of our excursions. read more

I had been dreaming about staying here for years and I FINALLY made it happen. As a vegetarian, I am very grateful that this hotel exists. It is very close to the airport and everything else in San Juan. If you plan to stay mostly in San Juan you could get away with just ubering but we did rent a car. There is not lot but we had no problem finding street parking for the week that we stayed. We stayed in the Muse room. To be honest, this was expensive and more than I would have liked to spend but the hotel was so good it was worth it. You are a block from the beach and they provide beach towels and chairs. We did two beach days near the hotel and it was honestly perfect. The beach is amazing, very blue even though it's in the city. I felt perfectly safe walking around this area. It is technically in a gated community so it is very nice. Right outside the gated area are a bunch of restaurants. The food at dreamcatcher was also very good. They provide free coffee every morning and then pay as you go food from 8am-1pm. Everything I ate was very delicious. The menu changes frequently so if you see something that sounds good, get it! My favorite thing was the tofu huevos rancheros. It was incredible. They serve a dinner on Friday nights that was $65pp but we skipped to try some other things. The courtyard is also very cute, great place to get pictures and sit back and relax. I can't wait to come back. Puerto Rico has my heart! read more

The Dreamcatcher is a close as it gets to heaven on Earth. If I could move in and live there year round, I would! From the incredible staff, to the beautiful rooms, this is my favorite place I've ever stayed. In February 2020, my boyfriend and I took a trip to San Juan. From the recommendation of friends, we decided to book our stay at the Dreamcatcher. The process of booking online directly from their website very straightforward. We did try to book via another site, but it was difficult. We learned that there are many different room options at the Dreamcatcher, and I believe that is what made it difficult to book from other websites. I'd recommend directly booking on their website, I believe you they offer a discount that way! We selected a Sanctuary Room, as these had private bathroom facilities. Our room had a beautiful outdoor space, which included the shower and toilet, and an area to sit and relax with chairs. Before our arrival, we sent an email to schedule in-room massages and some excursions. The process of booking these was very straightforward, and the charges were added to our bill. For meals, we did not pre-pay for any because we wanted to check out the local food scene. The Dreamcatcher staff provides an incredible map with details regarding every kind of local business in the area, which we relied upon and found incredible places as a result. When we had initially arrived, we found it difficult to locate The Dreamcatcher, and I believe this was due to nearby construction and the bountiful plants surrounding the entrance. There is a picture of the main entryway attached. While it was confusing initially, I was glad to have the entrance feel a bit secluded. We had a rental car for our first few days (so we could drive ourself to El Yunque - which I highly recommend) and we easily found parking in the neighborhood, though it was a bit tricky navigating finding the entrance to the community that the Dreamcatcher is located within. We were able to check-in early and leave our belongings at the desk. We spent time playing chess in the communal kitchen space, which was beautiful. When our room was ready, we were blown away by how unique the decor was, and how comfortable the bed was! One of my favorite parts about the Dreamcatcher is that they have a mini fridge that guests can take drinks from, and the payment is based on the honor system. You can write down your room and what you took, and it would be charged to your bill, or you could leave cash. They also offer an assortment of chairs and communal sunscreens (free of charge) that you can take to the beach, which is extremely close by. I am so grateful that this was my last trip before the pandemic put an end to travel for a while. It was truly incredible, and I cannot wait to return. read more

Originally, my partner and I had made a reservation for one of the owners other properties. Upon arrival to initial apartment, we found out the A/C was broken. Mind you, it's 90+ degrees in early September. There was no communication from the business. We had to arrive to the unit to discover this. After reaching out, they offered us a selection between two of their local properties, one being Dream Catcher, also located in San Juan. The aesthetics are nice. We stayed in Room 66. Has outdoor bathroom and shower--which I was not a fan of. I'd much rather not have mosquitos nipping at my calves while I'm on the toilet, but low and behold, that's what happened. Luckily, the bedroom actually had a working A/C unit. However, the windows were not equipped with any net. So, dare you open the window or door for fresh air, you'll be inviting for mosquitos and a wide array of other critters into the room. Overall, nice place but definitely not worth $300/+ night. There is no pool to escape the blistering heat, so we found ourselves purchasing Resort Pass tickets to venture to other properties. There's no type of complimentary breakfast offering at Dreamcatcher. While visually and aesthetically pleasing, the nightly price just doesn't reflect the amenities and experience. Even if free, I would not return to property because it means consenting to being chewed up by mosquitos. I left with over 15 bites. The location is okay, though. It's nestled on a residential street. Didn't feel unsafe or anything. However, next time I think staying in downtown would be better. Thus allowing me to be within walkable distance from larger restaurants, other hotels, general tourist attractions, etc. There are dozens upon dozens of hotels in San Juan. I would not make Dreamcatcher by go-to. It's good for Instagram photos, but not somewhere to take up residence at. Personally, it was not a comfortable stay and not an experience I would want to replicate again. read more

Very dreamy, neighborhood place to stay in San Juan, Puerto Rico (specifically in Ocean Park). While the property isn't huge, it is definitely filled with incense, pretty colors, hanging lights, sounds of running water, and trees. It is truly a peaceful place to rest. There are no TVs, but ample WiFi. The common spaces are convenient. Hammocks are a fun plus. My fav has to be the outdoor shower, because I mean where else could you do that? (Besides public beaches!) The vegetarian and vegan meal options are cool, but just know those are extra and do not come with your stay package. I did appreciate the offering of beer and other snacks that you can charge to your room or pay via piggy bank in the kitchen. Communal kitchen fridge and silverware were helpful to have, too. Unfortunately, just didn't get to use that as much. The workers were great! Irwin welcomed us and we saw him throughout our stay. The other workers in the kitchen were lovely to talk to, as well. Finally, this location is PERF. Located in Ocean Park, it is a mere 2 blocks away from the ocean, and a few blocks from restaurants and bakeries (favorite one nearby was Kasalta!). Absolutely could not possibly say enough great things about this hotel from it's perfect location right by the beach and in a gated neighborhood (Ocean Park, Santurce) of San Juan, to it's wonderful staff and chef, to it's natural beauty and Puerto Rican hipster, boho chic aesthetic - if that even is a thing! I just could not say enough words to articulate the magical feeling that you get staying here and listening to the roosters every morning, ocean waves, church bells, and palm trees swaying in the wind or walking through the courtyard with it's twinkling string lights at night and listening to the native coqui sing. It's just magic. If you have a chance to stay here, absolutely do yourself the favor and the luxury! I didn't even mention yet that they offer complimentary beach chairs & umbrellas that are so light to carry and it's literally maybe a 2 min walk to the beach! These are a must! This place is cute. The glass room we stayed in is small and cozy. I wasn't expecting to stay the night but flight cancellations changed my plans. I suggest if you're spending a day at the beach. The bathroom was shared with everyone who wanted to use it and there was an outdoor shower outside our room which offered no privacy unless you showered on the dark. The vegan breakfast was not all the way vegan because they served eggs. I enjoyed it and a mimosa. The community is gated and difficult to escape from. I had to walk through the streets at night to find my way to the main entrance which offered the only exit. I recommend for solo travelers and couples who are not over 5'8. read more

Not as dreamy as it seems and pretends to be! Our bedroom was the most expensive one and we were happy to pay more than $500/night because this trip was part of our honeymoon. Turned out that our "luxury" room is basically on the street, at the very entrance of the hotel and next to the sidewalk; it has no privacy at all, and the gorgeous outdoor bathtub is completely useless, unless you're an exhibitionist and enjoy the constant and loud coming and going of the hotel guests, hotel staff, street walkers and stray cats! But wait, the worst is yet to come: the hotel is currently under expansion and major construction are being done, right next to our bedroom. From 7AM and for the whole day until the evening, drilling shake the walls and destroy your ears, let alone your mood! We complained immediately (after waking up in shock and too soon for our taste!) and asked to speak with the management (never really did!) Despite the kindness of the employees (who offered us a free breakfast, which of course is not included in the $500!!!) a room change was only offered at the end of the day. By then, out of desperation and totally devastated, we had already trashed our honey moon plans and rebooked our flight to go back home one day earlier... No official communication from the management team was ever initiated, although we requested it and was promised multiple times. The lovely but poorly knowledgeable employees told us several times that someone would have reached out, especially after a refund was mentioned. We left early this morning, and a new employee was at the front desk and was totally unaware of the situation (shocker!) and kept nodding and apologizing... Well, thank you very much! Terrible experience, I won't recommend this place to anyone. Despite having good and noble intentions, nobody here seems to know what they are doing, let alone properly care for their guests. This is not a luxurious oasis of peace, it's actually more of a nightmare! And a pretentious one! read more

I can't express how I will forever try and recaptivate this daydream. Dreamcather by it's name alone has a hippie tone to it, but I didn't see any hallucinogenic drugs, I did however, speak to a few very laid back, kind in demeanor, and casual in appearance guests and staff. The Dreamcatcher was unique in every aspect of my experience with them. It had a very soothing, relaxing, free, and safe feel to it. My favorite points. *Gated community - cars have one way in and one way out. Pedestrian entrances are closed after dark. *A skip from the beach (I saw the crammed resorts area, none of those looked appealing) *The personalized attention, I was texting the staff close to midnight on day one and we were always promptly answered. *The outdoor showers with no doors, that's hot. (you get indoor ones too) *I've never stayed in a hostel but the shared communal kitchen was really cool. You didn't share food just a kitchen. *The bed is what dreams are made of. *Every room has it's individual style, I couldn't choose, and thankfully they did it for us. *Hammocks for reading and siestas! *waking up in a garden of greenery, with incense just outside our rooms, and following them both to morning coffee. We didn't get to experience the vegetarian meals that were originally included but finally there's a destination I want to return to and when I do, I want to stay here at Dreamcatcher. I recently stayed at Dreamcatcher and I first and foremost want to say the staff is the best of any hotel anywhere. Genuinely great people from housekeepers to chef to front desk to management. The best ever. The place is really cute and in a great walking location. It is in a gated community so I felt safe wandering around. You can walk to the beach. Food is really good. I took off a point because, my mistake, I booked a room with an outdoor bath. The bathroom was completely enclosed and safe and private BUT it was outdoors. This meant hot, humid and full of mosquitos and other biting insects. So if you want a beautiful stay, book a room with an indoor bathroom. I would absolutely stay again, but only with an indoors bathroom! read more

The management was extremely rude. We originally planned on 2 people staying here, but one of my girl friends decided to join us. Being that no hotel I've ever been to has ever had a problem with that, we figured it would be fine. We were originally told that we would be up charged for having an additional guest, which was totally fine. The manager then rudely told us that the 3rd guest was not welcome (word for word) and that she must find another hotel. I told them that if that is the case, we would like a refund because we did not want to send her away by herself. They told us they had a strict no refund policy (I figured something could be done to accommodate being that these were special circumstances). Again, we were happy to pay more but they did not even try to compromise. Very poor hospitality. I was really looking forward to staying at this hotel and was fairly disappointed in how it turned out. For a five night stay with a childhood friend we booked The Galleria room knowing that we would have to share a bed but the compromise was that we get an awesome gallery with two hammocks. (I spent a lot of time in those hammocks.) Our stay was amazing. Not a single compliant. I loved the outdoor bathroom. I love the decor of our room with the olive green walls. I loved how clean everything was. I loved the location. The beach is literally a minute walk away. I would recommend staying here. I would love to stay here again myself. Puerto Rico is a beautiful island and The Dreamcatcher made it even more magical. From their turtle aquarium to the vegan food made in the kitchen. Thank you! read more

I cannot say enough positive things about this lovely little getaway nestled in the sleepy beach neighborhood of Ocean Park. The Dreamcatcher feels like home. The staff treats you like old friends, the outdoor showers are magical, and the breakfast is UNREAL (for vegans/vegetarians and meat eaters alike). I stay here for at least a part of every trip I take to San Juan. I leave feeling rejuvenated every time. The staff was super warm & friendly and the venue is like walking through the tropical version of Buddha's temple. Everyone was super friendly, and what a relaxing, perfect atmosphere to be in on a vacation. allowed to us to really disconnect from the stress that sometimes comes with planning a vacation. Location: it was just steps to the beach (2 min walk), and a quick walk to quite a few restaurants and bars. Because it is located in a gated community (ocean park), the beach was also peaceful and not really crowded. they provide beach towels, umbrellas, chairs, even if you have already checked out (we checked out noon our last day but stayed on the beach til 4 and then used their showers) Details: they really thought of everything. The decor was beautiful, plants plentiful but not overgrown, and incense was always lit in the center area and bathroom. There were hammocks everywhere, a communal kitchen, and a kitchen where you could purchase vegetarian meals. We had a havarti goat cheese pizette for breakfast and it was great. I would definitely stay here again. We stayed in room #8, the "glass cottage", and although my girlfriend loved the colored stained glass and called it our "hobbit hole", i was too tall for the set up and hit my head on the lofted bed. During the planning process, we thought to ourselves: Let's diversify our hotel picks so that we get to try different places. WRONG!!!! When we arrived at Dreamcatcher, we regretted making that decision. The place really changed our perceptions of a bed and breakfast. What prompted me to write this review you ask? The gorgeous and cozy rooms that each has its own theme, the freshly made breakfast that keeps you thinking what's on the plate tomorrow, the friendly staff that will patiently guide you and answer your stupid questions (no matter how stupid these can get), and, well... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stay here. This place is truly amazing and deserves more than 5 stars. Not only if this place absolutely beautiful, but you will feel so at peace staying here and the staff is so friendly that you will never want to leave! The Dreamcatcher resides in a wealthy neighborhood near the Ocean Park beach. It was originally two houses combined into one to create the most beautiful bed and breakfast possible. They have 12 rooms, all of which are unique and all of which are gorgeous and clean. You can really see the detail in design of each individual room and every nook and cranny of this place. My boyfriend and I booked a private room. The shower and toilet are outdoors, but also covered. This may seem like an odd concept, and it was to me as well before I arrived, but I assure you it is great and you will really enjoy it. Alternatively, there is always an indoor bathroom/shower in the reception area that anyone can use. The place constantly smells like lavender and there are shared kitchens and common areas. They even have some board games at the front desk and lots of beach gear that you are free to borrow. While the breakfast seems a bit pricey, it is TOTALLY WORTH IT. This was literally the best breakfast I have ever had in my life and while I am not vegetarian AT ALL, I thoroughly enjoyed this meal prepared by chef jerome. The food is literally prepared in front of you in a kitchen and you really feel at home. There are hammocks to chill in and they also offer yoga at the beach in the mornings and yoga in the afternoons at the hotel. There are a LOT of food options around the area, and i highly recommend hitting up the local bakery!! The pastries there are BOMB. Aside from that, the staff is so nice and attentive. Even after check out, they will allow you to come back to use the shower and store your luggage. All the minibars and snacks work as an honor system, so you can pick up whatever you wish and just put your name and room number on a piece of paper. Parking can be a little difficult in the day time especially when locals are all coming to visit the beach. However, The Dreamcatcher allows you to park in their driveway and if there isn't space, just drive around the neighborhood and you're bound to find something eventually. Parking is really easy to find at night. Laundry can be a bit expensive at $20/load, but they fold and deliver your clothes to you pretty fast. Honestly, staying at the Dreamcatcher was the highlight of my trip. The place was also not expensive at all! There aren't words for how much we loved this place. We booked our trip last minute, so a few nights of our trip were sold out. We'd originally only decided to stay for 2 nights of our trip and booked an Airbnb for the rest, but ended up leaving it to come back to Dreamcatcher for the rest of the trip because we missed it so much! It is a veggie's paradise with the veg breakfast, daily coffee with almond milk, and communal kitchen. It's hard traveling while vegan, but not while at Dreamcatcher. We also took one of the tours to Gilligan's Island with their tour guide Charlie and it was absolutely incredible and totally worth it. The beds were really comfortable and we loved the outdoor seating areas- especially the hammocks! They really have thought of everything here, with little touches added and adjusted daily like incense, candles, and natural foliage arrangements. They have communal medicine and toiletry stashes as well, in case you're in need of something. The food is incredible and is 100% a must while you're staying here. The area is also the best- in walking distance to a beautiful beach and to tons of veg friendly restaurants. It's also a very safe neighborhood. Meet some fascinating folks in my 24 hr stay there from the owner visiting and bringing her two dogs .to the helpful front desk staff and the incredibly unique room choices , i had a outdoor shower on a large balcony overlooking the ocean about 200 yards away. They have a honor system fridge filled with beveages liquor and non liquor .... coolest thing ever, this is vegan paradise and have a kitchen that prepares tasty treats, although im a carnivore lol but no worries plenty of Meat within 7-8 min walking distance many many options from 2-5 star choices. Silvia was always around, asking how our days were going, and providing the right snacks to get through the rainy days (e.g. Reese's peanut butter cups for monsoon-ish weather just makes me feel so much better). It feels like home....Silvia's dogs were both around (one being an adorable puppy and another bigger golden beauty who were always fun to be play with). If you like the best kind of vegetarian and vegan foods, this place is for you. Chef Jerome went above and beyond for the Thanksgiving feast (a light avocado soup to start, two different kinds of salads - verde with turmeric dressing and a cucumber/melon salad to boot, a rooty vegetable mixture and chick pea/rice dish combo that I died while eating, and a nut based tart with a date/walnut crust). Had breakfast one time -- which included the best pancakes I've ever experienced, as well as a quinoa/veggie/egg delight. If you like one of the most beautiful beaches just a 5 minute walk away from your doorstep, this place is for you. Ocean Park is a gated community and the beach was exquisite. It rained a couple days but we still got some time on the sandy banks of this quiet beach. If you like outdoor bathrooms that may or may not be private, this place is for you. We were in the gentleman's suite (room 88), which has a private outdoor shower and bathroom on the balcony, which was also private. Covered, of course. The room was perfect, the bed, the windows, ocean view (due to a recent building being demolished)!! Perfect AC when we needed it. The cleaning service was above and beyond, they even folded our clothes we had on the floor. Little handwritten notes on our towels every day with mints and a fresh leaf/set of leaves. If you like beautiful scenery with options for activities like yoga during the evening hour, this place is for you. Flora, fauna, plants everywhere you turn, the incense, the candles in the hallways, the smells, such a pleasant experience. We took part in an evening yoga class when it was raining and loved it. Silvia even took part in the class with us! If you like amenities that are shared with other guests, this place is for you. There's a couple tubs of shampoo, bug spray, suntan lotion, and soaps in the front lobby - how convenient! Also there are chairs, floating boards, umbrellas, Frisbees, snorkeling gear, goggles, etc. There's also fresh/vegan food in the refrigerators for purchase if you write your name down on a list to be charged later. Also snacks and drinks in the lobby for a small fee. There's several kitchens you can cook food in, and everyone has their designated area in the fridge for the food you want to cook/leftovers. This rating is more so for the vibe than anything. A cool little spot in the Ocean Park neighborhood with wonderful ambiance and scenery. The outdoor space has lots of salamanders running around in and out of the trees which is pretty cool. The food was good as well, though the portions are pretty small. The staff was really cool and helpful which is always a plus. If you're looking for a place that will allow you to relax, then look no further! read more

I stayed at the owners actual house via Airbnb but had access to the hotel. DONT HESITATE. That's place is amazing, good vibe attracts better vibes! The owner is lovely, the space is well designed. My husband surprised me with a getaway to Puerto Rico for my 40th birthday. This guesthouse is in a great location in Ocean Park. I was super happy with the laid back vibe and the great staff. The hotel is also only 2 blocks from the beach and they offer beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, and some beach games. The bed was soooo comfortable! I got a great night's rest very single night we stayed there. I was also really impressed with the vegetarian breakfast. My husband and I shared the 3 course breakfast every morning and it was plenty for the two of us. Overall, this is a wonderful guesthouse and we are already planning on a return trip. read more

If you find this place online, you might think there's no way it'll look as beautiful and neat and cool and welcoming as it does in the pictures. You'll be wrong--it's exactly as advertised. If you want to know what you're getting, just look on their website and their IG (@_the_dreamcatcher, and @chefjeromepr for the chef's private account). The rooms really do look like that. The breakfasts from Chef Jerome really are that photogenic. The dogs really are that sleepy and cute. Etc. Most reviews of this place are effusive, but here and there you find negative ones that seem well thought-out and sincere. And because the rooms have a lot of quirk, and because it is not a typical hotel, these reviews might cause you to worry, or at the very least, wonder what you're getting yourself into. Instead of telling you why Dreamcatcher is awesome (their website and other reviews do that nicely), let me spend this review dispelling the concerns I saw raised: * Noise: Not a worry. I was here 5 nights with every or nearly every room booked--quiet ruled, and signs reminding guests of quiet hours (10pm to I think 8am) were posted everywhere. From what I can tell, reviews complaining of noise are extreme outliers. * Mosquitoes: I have only my stay here to judge, but, this wasn't an issue. Obviously there were mosquitoes--the house is in the tropics, it has outdoor areas and terraces galore, and it's full of plants and fountains--but I didn't get bitten much despite showering outdoors every evening and spending plenty of other time in the outdoor areas. If you forget to bring bug spray, they have some. (Note, I was here mid-December--no idea if this is high or low season for mosquitoes.) * Shared toilets: Some of the rooms don't have en-suite facilities, some do. I stayed in one of the three "Designer" rooms, which have a private terrace with outdoor shower and sink, but share a toilet between them. The shared bathroom was kept so clean it looked unused, and the loveliness of the outdoor shower made up for the very minor inconvenience of having to walk nine feet down the hall to poop. If the en-suite rooms are booked and you're on the fence, I'd say don't worry about this. * Hot water runs out in the outdoor shower: Not in my experience. * Only hipster youths come here: Nope. I saw a wide range of age, ethnicity, and nationality. * It's more like a hostel than a hotel, lovely but low-service: Not true. If anything, it's more like some kind of hybrid of spa and B&B. They have on-site and on-the-beach yoga, meditation, in-room massage, incredible breakfast/brunch daily and optional private lunch if you ask the chef to make it for you. The rooms are very well cleaned, the towels plentiful and changed daily if you want them to be. The staff are not typical hotel staff, it's true, they're more like casual B&B hosts, but they're professional--if you need them to book you a taxi or a tour, they're on it. * It looks too nice to be real: If you're skeptical because you think their marketing pictures are just too nice, all I can say is that the pictures are how it looks. So hopefully that dispels your concerns, if you have them. And after five full days, I had maybe two complaints: * My room, while delightfully arranged, didn't have enough storage. It would have been nice to have an armoire or drawers, or just some more shelving in the closet. Because of the lack of space, we had to colonize the beautifully arranged book/knickknack shelves and put our stuff on/around them. Having your mouthguard out next to a beautifully craquelured Buddha kind of diminishes the effect. * My bed was too soft. I mention this less to complain than to give you a sense of how there isn't much to complain about. Tips: * Free beach umbrellas and coolers, towels and chairs. I think lots of hotels charge for these things and don't even offer them all. Note that the house's supplies aren't limitless--they have maybe 10-12 chairs on hand, and ~5 umbrellas, but in my experience some of everything was available at any time. * Fair-skinned people, take note: the beach has some good shade from palm trees, but the shade gets taken if you don't go early. See the tip above about the free beach umbrellas. * It is legal to drink on the beach. The beers and champagne in the lobby fridge are pretty nicely priced. You know what to do. (Just don't go swimming if you do it.) * You must absolutely have Chef Jerome's three-course breakfasts. You are a fool if you don't stay in for breakfast, and an only slightly lesser fool if you opt for the single-course over the three. read more

Absolutely loved my stay here! The communal atmosphere, the food, the room, the staff, the activities available were all amazing. Also loved that the location is close to many places you would want to go to in San Juan (15 minutes driving from Old San Juan, 10-12 minutes from La Placita, 15 from the airport, beach literally right around the corner, many coffee shops, restaurants, convenience stores within 5 minutes walking distance). read more

Love, love, love this place!!! Staff: very friendly and helpful. I must have asked a question every night about what restaurants we should eat at and places to go to at night. Room: we stayed in the Bohemian room. It was the perfect size for my BF and I. Our shower was outdoors, which was pretty cool! Although, the bathroom was quite tight - especially for a 6'4 250 pound guy! Housekeeping came in everyday to clean and replace towels, and whatever they used to spray the room left a fresh smell. Hotel: Very clean. They did a great job maintaining its cleanliness. I even saw the lady working at the desk sweeping by the fountain. Communal kitchen area was well kept, by both staff and guests. They offer yoga every morning and night which was pretty awesome and a chef makes breakfast and dinner! The location of this place is a little sketch at first, but I've learned that it's in a good neighborhood that is gated at night and has a security checkpoint after hours. This place is a block or two away from the local beach and a 5 minute walk to local restaurants. read more

Dreamcatcher blew my expectations out of the water. I don't think the 5 star review does it justice. My boyfriend and I booked the Designer suite using the Airbnb app. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. Dreamcatcher is the epitome of tranquility and relaxation, from the landscaping to the eclectic decór. Our room had a private terrace with outdoor shower and sink which was very fun to use; however, the hot water runs out within a few minutes. The shared bathroom was kept clean so I utilized the inside shower on rainy days where the hot water did not run out. The location of Dreamcatcher was perfect. It is in a gated community and had a strict entrance to the property so I felt very safe. Also, it was just one block away from the beach and they offer free beach umbrellas, beach towels and chairs to use as well. When I return to Puerto Rico there is no doubt that I wouldn't book here again! read more

We are giving the Dreamcatcher 5 stars for what it is. If you are looking for a fancy, posh resort this will not be for you. When we first arrived to be honest we were hesitant about the neighborhood & whether we had picked the right place! However, after settling in and an evening yoga class we had become one with the Dreamcatcher. The ambience is spiritual, reviving and restful. Amazingly friendly people (I believe her name was Alexandria working the day...she was sooo sweet and helpful) and little lizards running around! Beautiful gardens, yummy kombucha and such a unique experience :) Beds aren't the most comfortable in the world but they gave us a pillow top for our mattress which changed our sleeping experience Take advantage of Sylvia's hand written map. Very helpful & full of awesome little places. We loved the outdoor shower! Even picked an avocado from a tree & will be eating for dinner tonight. As mentioned we were hesitant when we arrived but are now talking about our next trip back and who we should bring.
