We parked by several illl maintained buildings that require remediation to repaint. The entrance is through the smoking area, which was very unpleasant. Most of interior is in disrepair. I understand the house is old, but faucets shouldn't leak, and the mattress should not have a big divot. Upon arrival, Julie made somewhat of an effort to interact and showed us to our room. The showerheads and Italian lotion and hand soap are nice. The quality of workmanship on repairs left something to be desired. The dining room and stained glass were very well preserved. The constant pressure to donate, tip, and buy things was distasteful. The breakfast was was okay, but definitely would not define as homemade or gourmet: especially the brown and serve sausage. The French press coffee was nice, until the level got low, and the press and coffee looked greasy: like there was greasy water or dish soap in it. Food and coffee were luke warm the 1st day. A little better after. Fruit was fresh. Saturday night they had a loud fundraiser. I wish they would have done it on a day or time they were closed to the public: but not the end of the world. Doorbell could be heard regularly: including late at night. Walked out of our room to someone listening at our door. Very creepy. We felt like we were intrudingnand heard constant complaints about having to make breakfast. We generally stay in 3 star places, but was the Walmart of our experiences. read more

The house is lovely. The owners need a vacation. I got the feeling she really did not want to be there. Breakfast was well orchestrated, as each guest room had a sign where to sit in order to social distance. Breakfast consisted of coffee or tea, a fruit plate, yogurt, muffins and a croissant egg sandwich. I rate the food 3 stars. The service: 1 star. She kinda slapped the food down and mumbled on her way out. I realize she's probably overworked, but smiling goes a long way. We kinda felt like we were imposing rather than welcomed. I hope she was just having a bad day and can at least ACT like she welcomes guests. read more

What a historic gem. Clean, cozy and a TON of historic information on the property, family and Ringling Brothers. Walking distance of fabulous restaurants wine and beer gardens. This historical treasure should be on every road trippers list! Our hosts were welcoming and gave excellent recommendations on local fare. The home is immaculately kept and a joy of architectural craftsmanship. The beds are firm, and hosts were wonderful to accommodate special dietary needs. Coffee and tea were piping hot in the morning with a microwave available for a hot bedtime tea as well. Be aware that there are no main level bedrooms or elevator accessibility. read more

This place is opened and available for booking. Booked this place about 5 days in advanced. The price was great as were the accommodations. This place ended up being about the same price as the willowood inn, just down the street, but looked exponentially better in the photos. Stu and Julie were also super nice, often stopping to chat with us about our day as we came back from hiking or headed out to dinner. The owners did a great job of maintaining the historic look while including modern amenities. They had an ice machine in the dining room on the first floor. You had to plan ahead for it though, as it took just over an hour to get a hotel room ice bucket full of ice. They also provided a community fridge and microwave in the common area along with plastic utensils and paper plates. We kept the cheese we bought in there during our 4 day visit and didn't have any issue. The fridge is a bit small and can be cramped depending on how much everyone is putting in there. We ended up staying in the Ella and Fred room. This was the largest room and was great. The room has a portable AC unit, which does get a bit loud, but it didn't bother us too much. It came with a small TV equipped with netflix. The wifi speed was great, I was able to take a zoom call with zero lag. The room also came with a relatively good size glass table, that would be perfect if you decide to take breakfast in the room. The bathroom itself had looked like it may have been in original form with older tile, shower/sink fixtures, etc. A shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel dispenser was attached to the wall. The rest of the house is gorgeous as well. The library was very comfortable and the dining room was great to eat breakfast in. The breakfast itself was delicious. Everything came out hot. Breakfast usually consisted of one "hot" item, fresh cut fruit, some belvita breakfast crackers, and noosa yogurt. It was always more food than we needed, we usually ended up saving our yogurt for a late night snack. Hot items rotated daily and consisted of stuffed french toast with kiwi and ham, eggs Benedict, and lemon ricotta pancakes with fresh blueberries. Overall, we loved staying in the Ringling inn. On top of the historical significance of the building, the accommodations were gorgeous and comfortable, and the breakfast was top notch. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again next time we're visiting the area. read more

We booked our one night stay on fairly short notice so were happy when there were several options for rooms. Our room was fairly small but had what we needed, including, as others have indicated, access to a communal fridge and microwave and a well stocked bathroom with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers installed in the shower. They had smart TVs with no access to cable but did have Netflix installed with a guest account ready to go. I loved the antique feeling of the building- especially the music room and library downstairs. I wished however we had actually gotten to hear a bit more about the history. The owners were gracious and supplied us with what we needed- checking us in and serving breakfast but were not too chatty otherwise. I'm not sure if it's just due to Covid, or perhaps we should have asked more questions during our check in etc. We spent a bit of time on our own though exploring the rooms and the eclectic book supply. Breakfast was tasty, consisting of a yogurt, fruit, baked good and a hot item (we had egg sandwiches). I felt it was sufficient however my husband was left still hungry. Julie nicely topped him off with a hard boiled egg and banana a la carte. We were a little disappointed that due to Covid we missed out breakfast with the other guests. read more

This is a lovely historic B&B in a lovely small Wisconsin town. While I understand that upkeep for such a facility is overwhelming, there are a couple of items that I need to mention: On the two mornings that we stayed there, breakfast was defrosted frozen french toast/quiche. Nicely served with fresh fruit, but not up to our standards. Bedroom furniture is old and understandably creaky, but door hinges can be oiled. I've stayed in way too many places with squeaky bedroom and bathroom doors (I've resolved to start packing my own can of WD-40!) Needless disturbance for one's sleeping partner. read more

It was okay. There was some confusion when booking the room, and seemed a bit pricey. But this was our first time at a Bed and Breakfast and did not know what to expect. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. However I wish we got to see more of the house. We later learned that' a tour was included. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. A tour is included in the reservation and was interesting. We just showed up at the door, knowing nothing about the place. It was off-season so they had room for us. The home is a large 19th century Ringling brother home. Breakfast was delicious and served in a gorgeous dining room with original wood and several Ringling Brothers furniture pieces. The downside: 1. there was no tv so we could not watch the news. They had a computer connected screen, but we could only watch tv shows and movies. That was not a big deal as we weren't there to watch tv, but it would have been nice to get the weather. 2. The bathroom window had no shade or way of assuring privacy. The window was large enough for the house across the street to look right in as we showered, etc. We found a sheet to hang up in the window. We would have spoken to the innkeepers but they were not available due to the Baraboo Christmas Light parade going on. We had a sheet, so we just went with it. 3. The room we were in was just plain ugly - it needs a decorator's touch. During the tour we saw several other rooms which were vacant and they were nicely decorated. If I were them, I would have put us in one of the nice rooms. Our room, which was on the south side of the second floor, was cold. The rooms on the other side were toasty warm. 4. We were told our room had a fireplace so we went with it but when we saw the room, the "fireplace" was an electric thing which barely gave out heat. Oh well. If you stay there, ask to see the rooms first and make a pick. read more

My mother and I had a relaxing time during our stay. Our room was clean, bed was comfortable, and our bathroom had lots of hot water! We felt welcomed and our many questions were patiently answered. Breakfast was served when promised and dietary needs were met (thank you). The house is 118 years old and is well kept. Antiques are used throughout the house and we dined on china, a nice touch. read more

We stayed there during Eagle watch days in Prairie du Sac. The room was very comfortable and the shower was amazing. There is a fridge in the hallway for common use and they have complimentary water. The owners were great! The breakfast was delicious and they cater to dietary restrictions, which was great! We also enjoyed meeting and talking to the other guests during the family style breakfast and wine and cheese in the evenings. read more

A pleasant stay in the historic Ringling House. Since I was coming to Baraboo, it seemed appropriate to relive part of its rich history by staying in a house once owned by the Ringling Brothers, known for their circus and making Baraboo their winter home. The new owners have done a lot of work to restore this old house, install ensuite bathrooms in the 6 bedrooms and update fixtures. They have a long way to go, yet have a work plan and a vision to faithfully restore the buildings. The full size bed and mattress were comfortable and the place was clean. The host was helpful in showing us around the house and pointing out some of the original furniture that belonged to the Ringlings. For guests, there is a communal refrigerator and microwave to use. Plenty of places to sit in the common rooms downstairs. Breakfast was boarding house rules with everyone eating at the same time, including the owners. I always find the B&B experience enriching as others had splendid suggestions on what to see and do in and around Baraboo. That was certainly true here. read more

We enjoyed our one night stay at the Ringling House B&B. The house is grand and a great deal of the prior elegance has been maintained. We were in a hurry to get to dinner so received an abbreviated orientation and key to our room. We didn't realize until the next morning, when exploring, that there was a fridge on the second floor with water and snacks available. There were many brochures and books about The Ringling Family and Baraboo which we enjoyed perusing. A nice breakfast was served to all guests at 8:30 am. I found the Fred and Ella room and bed quite comfortable. We did notice the traffic noise, but I'm sure the home was built when traffic was limited and of no concern. read more

A short walk to downtown through a beautiful neighborhood.The house it self is fascinating and the history Julie and Stu shared with us made it even more exciting and they couldn't have made us feel any more at home even if we were related. Somewhat disappointing. Room was too warm and stuffy because air-conditioning was not connected up for the season yet. We opened the windows but there were no screens. The windows opened onto the roof of the porch, and there was a large pile of broken (window) glass there. This was the emergency escape route and we would have cut our feet had we rushed out, in an emergency. That evening we had to ask whether there would be Happy Hour(as advertised), since none was forthcoming. They subsequently brought out 2 bottles of wine, no snacks. The cost seemed high considering the above. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Ringling House B&B for a long weekend in November. Julie and Stuart were excellent hosts. We had an unfortunate delay in our arrival and Stu waited up for us until 1:30am to let us in and show us to our room. The room was chilly at night (the heat must be off between certain hours), but the bed was warm enough. The house and rooms are charming with creaky wood floors and period details, but modernized for comfort. Breakfast was consistently abundant and delicious at a convenient time with fun conversation. The innkeepers were ready to answer any questions about Ringling history or Baraboo. The decor didn't seem to have any particular theme -- I would have thought circus memoribilia -- but was pleasant and interesting. We felt welcomed and taken care of during our stay and would recommend a stay to anyone visiting the Baraboo area. read more

The home is so well made, beautifully designed, and well maintained. Julie prepared a wonderful and filling breakfast. We slept well in our quiet room.
