We were looking for a quiet peaceful bed and breakfast near Baraboo to check out DEVILS LAKE. We made the right decision. Lyle and Marge were hospitable along with their daughter in law, Pam. The breakfasts were wonderful, the scenery was delightful and the home was welcoming. The price was unbeatable. Go take a walk around the land, and you'll enjoy the scenery of the outdoors.

I did not expect the owners to treat me and my wife like honored guests in their own home, but that's how it is. Very interesting husband and wife team who are very skilled at making a rich experience and tailoring the visit to your interests. The coolest part of the stay for me were the happy hours that Dave hosted. We had a lot of fun swapping stories with Dave and other guests who were also up for some good drinks. Breakfast was also pretty awesome. The manor is a beautiful campus that exceeds the verbal description and pictures. Lots of richness in the back story can be gleaned from conversation with Dave. To be honest, we werent looking for a bed and breakfast or a resort like retreat since we came to do some hiking, do some leaf peeping, and do some tourist stuff with a friend. By the time check out came around, we wished we budgeted more time relaxing at the manor. Definitely plan to book here again next time we do a Wisconsin vacation.

The grounds were peaceful and full of hidden surprises. The owner's Dave and Trudy were so much fun! They helped us pick and make reservations at an amazing supper club and local brewery. The breakfast was great too! Dave was always happy to take photos for us and fill our wine glasses too! Both Dave and Trudy kept us laughing all weekend long. I stayed in the Birds Nest room. It was very charming and well appointed. I loved the binoculars that were in all the rooms so you could watch the birds and other wild life on the grounds. There was also a hydro spa tube in the private bathroom which was so relaxing. Overall a fabulous place for a getaway! This was an amazing girls weekend! We are planning on returning next year!

We stayed for a long weekend, and and it was the perfect location to get away. The rooms are all themed so when you call to reserve you can pick from the rooms they have available. We stayed in Unit 2, the Devil's Lake room which had photos of Devil's lake. The room included a mini refrigerator, coffee and tea, and alarm clock if needed. Right outside your door they have chairs and tables for enjoying the beautiful weather. They also have grills and an area for bonfires. I was only able to go to the communal area/lobby for the first morning as it was soon closed as they were started to do contactless check in/out. But it seems as though in less COVID-y times they have some coffee or tea there, light breakfast items like mini muffins or breakfast bars and fruit. They also had a communal puzzle and board games. Overall the place is super cozy, perfectly situated for a relaxing vacation with a number of restaurants and small shops to visit in Baraboo.

The hours are very minimal so we want to make sure we got there early. We didn't know how busy this place would be but we came in mid-afternoon and the menu was absolutely appetizing from what they offered I was immediately interested in their sweet and savory barbecue sandwich. My wife got a soup, the staff was very nice in accommodating and professional throughout the entire visit. They checked in on us and make sure we had water, they engaged in conversation with us , and they take pride in their menu. They offered a Pay It Forward program which was pretty cool to see and they even sell some books too. The food here is also very well priced and affordable. Our meals were absolutely delicious and it filled us up for the rest of the day. This place offered a really clean restrooms and his restaurant was really clean. We got a muffin for us to share and it was absolutely amazing there's parking on the property right next door highly recommend checking this place out this was the highlight of visiting Baraboo Wisconsin

I understand the house is old, but faucets shouldn't leak, and the mattress should not have a big divot. Upon arrival, Julie made somewhat of an effort to interact and showed us to our room. The showerheads and Italian lotion and hand soap are nice. The quality of workmanship on repairs left something to be desired. The dining room and stained glass were very well preserved. The constant pressure to donate, tip, and buy things was distasteful. The breakfast was was okay, but definitely would not define as homemade or gourmet: especially the brown and serve sausage. The French press coffee was nice, until the level got low, and the press and coffee looked greasy: like there was greasy water or dish soap in it. Food and coffee were luke warm the 1st day. A little better after. Fruit was fresh. Saturday night they had a loud fundraiser. I wish they would have done it on a day or time they were closed to the public: but not the end of the world. Doorbell could be heard regularly: including late at night. Walked out of our room to someone listening at our door. Very creepy. She was watching a video and laughing. The older man checking us in had a sour face the entire time. After I paid for the room, he told me that he was not going to allow us to stay there if my daughter was going to bother the other guests. I was aghast. I explained to him that she is autistic. He didn't seem to understand or care. He said to take proper care of her to keep her quiet, or we couldn't stay there. So, we left. So, my advice, especially if you or your children have special needs, stay away. Spend your money and stay someplace else. Avoid this shameful, uncaring place owned by an angry, uncaring man.

To start it's run by a senior couple who the husband runs front desk. His unbelievable hateful nature and condescending attitude took me aback. To start. I booked a room which I was quoted 230.00 a week. Upon showing up. He jacked up my room by 50.00 a week to 280.00. Then the most hateful mannerism blew me away. I wanted to rent a month to find a suitable home. Well he scammed me at a price of 1204.00 with the inflated price of 280.00 a week times 4.3 weeks in a month. 50.00 X 4.3 =an additional 215.00 expense. I wanted to hold him to the quote of 230.00 but rudely he told me if I don't like it leave and find another hotel. I went to the room and it was dirty. The microwave was uncleaned and filthy. Also it did NOT work. The toilets were little people size. My testicles literally were in the toilet water. The toilet was very old and primitive It had a nasty tub. Scum ring and the handle in the tub was never ever cleaned. As brown human oils and film coated the shower bar. Who sits in a nasty dirty tub? The amenities were poor. The base of the toilet had brown fecal residue all around it. This isn't the worse yet. I wanted to use my microwave. But it was literally broken besides uncleaned. I went to the front desk to get some assistance. He told me I was Crazy ! And that if I don't like my microwave move out immediately with the most deplorable hate towards my request and myself. I said ,Sir I'm just asking for some help. He refused and told me again it worked and there were NO others to replace it. And again threatened me to evict me out of the room paid for. Because only in hateful spite. I went back to my room unplugged it and carried it to the front desk. He refused to even come to my room. Referring to me as nuts. I set it down on a coffee table. Which he refused me to have any coffee..?? Why only daily people can have coffee. His insane behavior gets worse. So I plug it in and his wife comes upfront. He is swearing in Hindi and telling his wife. I'm a nut. For 15 minutes this front office owner couldn't get it to work. His wife also sees the filthy Interior of the micro and herself appalled. It doesn't work ! Needless to say she says.. go get another in the storage garage. He was a liar he had more. And she embarrassed this insane man. As he went out back .. she says he is a little disturbed. A little ?? This is the owner and works front desk. I carry the replacement back to my room. Service is not to be seen. I go back to my room and left my keycard inside. With total fear I walk back to the office. I politely said, Sir I'll give you $10 to let me into my room. He immediately looked at me with a revenge scorn. Then said move out. I don't want your type here . You go find some other motel. Bewildered but threatened again I went back and started to pack up. He stood about 20 yards away to watch. How Odd he couldn't get off his ass to help except take my money and evict me. I took pics to verify my experience. Please folks sleep under a tree before ever renting here. The place was as old as the couple . Candidly should be torn down and genuine people rebuild a modern building.
