We had just gone through a situation where another Mexican restaurant made us wait for 25 minutes with only chips; we were upset but remembered the Mexican place that we used to go to after our kiddo's soccer games. We drove for 20 minutes to Rio Chico. We were given a table in less than a minute, and freshly made chips were given to us and drinks. Three minutes later, we ordered our food, and we were even given sauce options. Not even more than ten minutes had passed, and we were given our order, which was five different food plates. The waiter was the whole time attentive, refilling our drinks and making sure that we had everything we needed or wanted. Sadly, we won't be able to go here anymore because we are moving to the West Coast this week, but I 100% recommend this place to everyone who is looking for authentic Mexican good. read more

The place always look dark but it's open so go try it out. I tried the nacho deluxe with shredded chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, sour cream, refried beans, and cheese on the bottom. The nachos was a never try again meal. The presentation was a no. I tried the mild hot sauce which was green. The waiter made sure to keep coming back. This place has never disappointed but today, it was exceptionally good! We were greeted as soon as we entered and seated. We were brought chips and salsa immediately, and our drinks were shortly after. Being a Sunday, we were surprised to see the place wasn't packed for dinner but the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. I try to always explore new options each time I visit any restaurant. I found the Rio Chio Trio and it was phenomenal!! It comes with chicken shrimp and steak. Each were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. It came with rice beans, guacamole, and sour cream. You have a choice of flour or corn tortillas. 10/10- today I went with my wife to celebrate our 1 year anniversary ( She's Mexican) and decided I should try out this place. Everyone was so welcoming! Our server Angel, was very pleasant and attentive - would recommend him! He made our experience great. Food was delicious. This time had the Combo Grande with two ground meat enchiladas (extra onions on top), refried beans and rice. Wanted Chile Rellano, but they were out. Had previously and they were quite good. Enchiladas and sides all good. Spouse had the Rio Chico Salad. Nicely plated with plump, fresh shrimp, lettuce, cheese and fruit. Quite good. The food was ok, just average mexican flavors and for that I would have given 4 stars. Price to value would have been about the same because it is really a little over the average I pay at a joint like this. Seems to be popular and maybe a better value on the Sunday buffet. I am big on cleanliness and rather than looking for the county sanitation score I look around and my first impression after I sat down was the overt display of carelessness about how the waitress station looks like. Never will I give my business to a restaurant that ignores paying customer. Me and my husband went to Riochico to have dinner and 4 servers including the manger made eye contact with me and not once came over to get our drink order let alone tell us someone will be with us! After waiting for more than 30 plus mins. Also two tables were sat after us (one being a party of 6 & another being a party of 2) both parties drink order were taken. Secondly the manger came up and spoke to the other customer even after being told I wanted to speak! I'm not the one to speak on racism but I definitely felt it was present tonight! Kitchen closes 40 minutes prior to posted time. Went in to grab 1 taco and cheese dip and told us kitchen was closed. Understand "cutting it close" but obviously don't want or need the business. Food has always been good, but poor customer service is a deal breaker. Will be moving on. read more

The Texas rice is always great! The portion size is very reasonable for the price. I forgot our server's name however she was very attentive. Our food was at our table less than 10 minutes on a Saturday night with a restaurant half full. The margaritas are definitely on point. read more

Rio is kind of hit or miss. We've experienced them both ways (eat in and take out ) Our eat in experience was great. We had a very knowledgeable waitress who helped us as first time guests pick our food and it was really good. Endless chips and salsa were at the table. The drinks were pretty good as well. If you want fish I highly recommend the fried tilapia. It was HUGE and whole and enough for 2 people easily. Our take out was the reason for one less star. It was poorly packaged, not labeled (everything looked the same so we couldn't tell who ordered what) and missing items that it looks like they tried to replace with other things we didn't ask for. If they took more care with to go orders they would be ok. read more

When we first started coming here a few years ago we had a few terrible experiences back to back. Seemed as though each time we came our order was delivered incorrectly...even multiple times in one night. We almost gave up and never went back. We gave it one more chance and ended up with Nahomi, she was absolutely flawless and we have been back many many times since. So much so we have claimed them as part of our extended family. We live in cane bay so we decided to drive the golf cart up for lunch. We didn't have too high of expectations and assumed it would be just another Tex mex restaurant. Arrived a little under an hour after they opened and was surprised to see it was already pretty busy. They have a couple tables for outside seating and the inside is pretty large. My husband ordered a margarita and I ordered a large Dos Equis. When she brought out my beer I was pleasantly surprised that the beer was HUGE. Also, it was only $8 so that's a plus. My husband said the margarita was delicious and by the end of the meal he was feeling the tequila. That is saying a lot because when he orders margaritas at most other Mexican restaurants they taste like virgin ritas. We were brought chips, salsa and a dish of whole beans. I was surprised as I had never had that at other Mexican restaurants but it was delightful! I love how unique that idea was. The salsa was also very good. A lot of tex mex restaurants have very liquidy bland salsa or salsa that resembles the taste of ketchup. I ordered the burrito supremo and my husband ordered the chicken and steak fajitas. My burrito was fantastic. Filled with chicken, beans, rice and topped with guac, pico, sour cream, red sauce and more cheese. Chicken was very tender and juicy. The burrito was huge, but of course I ate the whole thing. The guacamole was very creamy and tasteful. All of the toppings together were a perfect blend. My husband was disappointed with his fajitas. He said the steak and corn tortillas were bland. Considering we live right down the road, we will definitely be back. read more

Absolutely horrible. I sat down at a table and waited for service. A family sat down well after I did and were served IMMEDIATELY! I was still waiting for service after they were waited on. I reported this to a manager and walked out. I will never go back. The manager, by the way, appeared to barely be of drinking age. The customer service of the hostess was quite deplorable also. My brother and sister-in-law go there all the time the servers know what they like we go there to meet them and do a family dinner sometimes I've never had a complain about my food. The decor inside is beautiful and they have 2 large projector screens that had the World Cup game on. I wish I could say something good about the food but its not authentic Mexican food in my opinion. The pick 2 combo dinner is a great value for $7.50 but my tamale was very small. Another person in our party also ordered a tamale and hers was twice the size of mine. The chicken quesadilla looked liked it had melted shredded mozzarella cheese not the white queso cheese. They load you up with chips and salsa and free refills on the soft drinks and sweet tea but The main course was disappointing. read more
