What a cool place! The interior design and decor is very bright and inviting. There's a "greenhouse" type of space inside that has a glass enclosure with lots of hanging plants everywhere. I just loved the vibe! My birria and carne asada tacos were certainly not authentic but decent. The birria one tasted good when dipped in the consommé. The carne asada taco was more filling than carne asada but all ingredients tasted fresh. The rice & beans were bland but not the worst I've ever had. Went in to celebrate a high school graduate. We had large party of 9, got seated quickly. Waitress was very nice and attentive. Food came out fast and everyone's order was correct. Everyone loved their food and several took some of their meal home bc it was too much. Ambiance was nice and they had something on the tv for the kids as well as the adults. My first experience at Taco Boy did not disappoint! I loved the decor inside and out. The Mexican cultural themes were on point and very festive. The wafting smells of carne asada made my mouth water as we entered. We had to wait about 10 minutes on a Saturday evening, but took that time to walk around the adjacent shops before receiving a text message to return. Then we were seated on the patio, which was very nice and cool on a hot Summer day. We ordered chips and dips, margaritas, and tacos. They were also very delicious, and filled our bellies. The cheese dip was dangerously good. I also really like the Korean kim chi taco and the spicy firecracker shrimp taco. The bill was about $80 for two people before tip, which included two premium drinks (not too bad). I will definitely go back again! read more

Aislin at the bar was super nice and attentive. She was also very personable! Carne asada taco was my favorite! Tender meat + the savory sauce, just delicious. Baja fish taco came with a mango slaw last year, but they changed it to a rainbow slaw which was pretty unimpressive. Bring back the mango slaw! Date of visit: 07/27/2025 After completing the first leg of my road trip to the northeast I decided on a stop in Summerville and needed to eat at Taco Boy. I have been to the TB in Folly Beach, both the new high-rise and the older, I believe the first TB on the main drag in Folly so I needed to try this location. As I drove up on the place I could tell this was gonna be different experience than Folly. Then I walked inside and knew It was different. This was quiet and laid back, a more family place. Not that Folly isn't a family place but it has more action since it's on the beach. The food, I decided on the (2) Taco special that comes with black beans and rice. Firecracker shrimp and Carnitas tacos were my pick. I had BL as I waited. The service on this visit was great since I was sitting at the bar which only had a couple people sitting. The food arrived and looked great. After mixing the beans and rice together I put a little TB Danger sauce on it and that spiced it up. I even put a little on the Firecracker Taco, wow... The restaurant was a fairly nice size. It had a long bar when you entered with indoor seating with two levels and an enclosed patio. The restrooms were in the back of the restaurant. The vibrant colors with decor filled the place with TVs hanging above the bar and the stain glass windows were radiant. The restaurant was packed for an event, but the service was great. Our waitress was attentive. I really enjoyed the non-alcoholic margarita. It was very refreshing. I loved the take on the cheeseburger quesadilla. This is a decent taco place to try. This place isn't anything crazy but I really like the atmosphere that it has to offer and they're receiving inside and outside as well to enjoy. The service is really great when it comes to staff, taking care of their customers. There are plenty of options on the menu. The Elote bowl of corn was not my favorite and the flavor was missing. However, I really enjoyed my lettuce wraps and the spiciness of the shrimp. I will absolutely go back and try other things and probably get the shrimp wrap again. read more

We come to this location often and it never disappoints! I am a slut for Mexican food, tac-hoe if you will Their tacos never disappoint and I have had all of them! I went a second time and ordered three tacos with rice and beans. I didn't even get to pick up the tacos. They were soaked in sauce to the point they fell apart. I ended up scooping what I could with my fork but wish I had a spoon I did enjoy the black beans. I have visited this Taco Boy so many times. The service has always been okay. The servers check back pretty often but are often slow to get started at the table. The restaurant is clean. I find this Taco Boy to be particularly loud. This time, I got the quesidilla, and I LOVED it. The spiciness was just right. I peeled most of the quesidilla's innards out of the tortilla because of the card cotent, but the tortilla was good. It could have just a bit more crunch. This is my second time here and it's such a cute stop for Mexican food. The first time we came we didn't get food, we just got a pitcher of the frozen strawberry margaritas. Which is such a good deal for $45 considering they're $10 a piece. Last night, we went for dinner and got drinks as well. We ordered a frozen mango and pineapple passion fruit margarita. Both were very good. When you get there, you are brought a bowl of fried chickpeas and water. We ordered chips and salsa, a crispy americano, a soft americano, and a soft baja shrimp taco. Presentation was good and the food was super flavorful. Our servers both times have been very nice and attentive the whole time. Definitely recommend. read more

Taco Boy in Nexton has a nice vibe. Large spacious indoor and enclosed, outdoor area. Colorfully decorated and inviting atmosphere. They have a huge two sided bar that looks to seat about 25 people inside and looked to seat the same outside The music was upbeat just the right volume. I was greeted by two young ladies with the biggest smiles that looked like they enjoy their jobs. My waitress, Amy, was nice as well and great to chat with. I went with the Platos Grandes with three tacos, Spanish rice, and black beans. My tacos were a complete mixture: Kimchi Beef, Chicken Tinga, and the classic Taco Americano. I was enjoying my meal not to long after I ordered and everything was delicious! Will definitely be checking this place out again soon. Well went in to order to go crab and shrimp quesadilla and got the appetizer for crab and shrimp which tasted like shit! Also I told her the one I wanted was $19. You'd think she would have looked at the price of the appetizer ($14) and knew I wasn't wanting that. My total bill was $21.33. As for the service, well the lady at the front must not have understood me when I said I did not want the appetizer! The place looked great but service needs to improve when you take an order! Heard lots of good things so decided to give it a try. Pleasantly surprised at the extensive menu. Tried three different tacos. The shrimp taco and the boom boom shrimp taco were to die for good. Had high expectations for this place thinking they would have a good menu on Cinco de Mayo as advertised online but they were not aware of the special but we didn't find this out until after a fifteen minute. Basically quesadillas and tacos not my kind of Cinco Only stayed for a margarita and I wasn't impressed by the use of margarita mix, my kind is with the fresh squeezed limes and Cointreau but it is understandable. OH BOY! I visited the Taco Boy is in Summerville, which is one of their 3 locations. When I arrived there was a little wait, which was to be expected since I arrived during peak hours on a Friday. My group sat at the bar while we waited for a table. The restaurant seemed to be a little short staffed as all of the tables were not being utilized, but they didn't let that stop them! Once seated I ordered a casa margarita on the rocks with chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were plentiful, but they come at a charge, unlike other Mexican establishments. For my meal I enjoyed the veggie soup quesadilla paired with Mexican rice. This is by far the best veggie quesadilla I've ever had, the vegetables were seasoned SO well!! The atmosphere of Taco Boy is very bright and they even have a greenhouse with seating that they open up during the warmer months. There even a cute wall for photo ops. read more

It's my first time here, visiting on a Monday afternoon. We ordered to go, and the food was good... Had the trio salsa and the quesabirria. Im give four stars because, during the waiting ( at the bar), the bartender never asked if we wanted something while we waited.... She could make more money if her customer service were slightly more serious. I ended up screaming twice to get her attention.... After I order my drink, her tone change but the drink was absolutely disgusting. She did not even take the time to shake my margarita, she simply served the tequila and lime juice that tasted old and added a lime wedge... hopefully, she gets better training. My children and I went here for dinner while we were in town for a ball tournament. The restaurant ambiance was nice but unfortunately that's the only thing positive I could say. The food was horrible! We had the salsa trio - all three were so spicy we couldn't eat them. Then we each had the two taco dinner with beans and rice. Rice was dry. Beans were mush. Tacos were so spicy they were inedible. The waiters reply was "oh sorry you didn't like the food, next time get the quesadilla" It was a horrible experience. I visited the new Taco Boy in Nexton for the first time last night and for some reason my review of the one downtown from years ago is under this business. Not sure why Yelp would do that but seems unfair to a newly established restaurant, even if they have other locations nearby. We met some out of town family here for dinner. They had been seated before us in the rather lovely greenhouse like seating area. The restaurant is similar to the downtown location in the inside with decor but much higher ceilings giving it a more open vibe. I was super impressed with the entire space- indoor and out. Our server was great. Drinks were always full. Food came out perfect. We had a great evening and I look forward to coming back since it is much closer than the downtown location. read more

The last time that I was in Charleston we ate at Taco Boy and I loved the food and service so I wanted to dine here again. When I chose this location I assumed that it was the same one but it was another one. This location was a lot bigger than the downtown location and was located in a plaza with other businesses. We went on a weekday in the evening but we didn't have to wait for a table. When we were initially seated we were seated away from other patrons but the longer that we stayed the more people they put right next to us. It was definitely too close for comfort in the middle of a pandemic. Our server was Kayla E. She was not really personable. I ordered the same thing that I got at the downtown location. A fish taco and an americano taco with flour shells. I also got the street corn. The street corn and the americano taco were good. The fish taco was not good and tasted different than the other location. My mom ordered the cowboy nachos. It was huge. Def enough to share with multiple people. The cheese was placed in the center of the nachos and not along the sides of it so my mom asked for more cheese. Kayla basically told her that there was cheese on it already and that if she wanted more that she would have to pay for extra cheese. Then she just walked away without saying anything. Some time later another employee brought over extra cheese. We were not charged for the extra cheese however when I looked at my bank account my card was run for an extra $6.00. I called the business to tell them about the issue and I was told by a manager that she would call me back in an hour because they were in the middle of their lunch rush. After several hours of not hearing back from her, I called her back. She did reverse the charge and it went back on my card after a few days. Our waitress was kind enough to bring us a few bottles of hot sauce for our appetizers.
