My coworkers and I had a wonderful dining experience at El Patron Nexton Mexican Restaurant in the beautiful Newton neighborhood! This is definitely a must-visit! We made reservations since we were a group of 11. We were seated quickly and greeted with warmth and friendly smiles. We started with their chips and salsa, which had just the right amount of mild spice--flavorful without being overwhelming. The fruity drinks were delicious, and with a group of 11, there was certainly no shortage of laughter! For my entrée, I ordered the beef burrito bowl, packed with rice, black beans, cheese sauce , pico de gallo, and tender carne asada. Everything came together perfectly and was absolutely delicious! My coworkers also really enjoyed their meals. Five of them are vegetarians and were very happy with their vegetarian Burritos, Vegetarian fajitas, vegetables and rice dishes, while another coworker enjoyed the chicken and rice. There was truly something for everyone! Even with a group of 11, the service was outstanding. Our meals came out together, our drinks were kept flowing, and the staff did a fantastic job taking care of such a large group. After dinner some of the girls ordered "alcoholic ice cream" which looked like frozen margaritas to me. I have not had alcohol in over a decade but the temptation was there. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, plenty of parking and lots of laughs with coworkers! I will definitely return with my family!! Waitress' first day and she was amazing. I asked if margaritas were made with a mix, or fresh lime. They use mix. ( Most places do). For the prices, I dont get it. Hence - 1 star. They dont make Mole with Chicken legs. But they do with pork. So why not? Its house made Mole! ( I asked) Was delicious. He had Carne with Shrimp and liked it. My Margarona was good as well. They need a more experienced person to seat people. The squeezed a party of5 at a 4 top and a party of 2 they sat at a 6 top. It is very easy to see the large party was uncomfortable and too confined to be comfortable. The wait staff was not super friendly this time. Our first time here was amazing so maybe being Fathers Day, they just were not thrilled being at work. Not sure. Our 1st time was great and this time was not so good. Now some walked in and had to explain how their party needed a place for the car seat and they just said they didn't know how so she had to show them. Stopped by El Patron and had a pretty standard experience overall. The fajitas came out sizzling hot with a good mix of shrimp, chicken, and steak, plus peppers and onions. Flavor was decent -- nothing mind-blowing, but solid and filling. The rice and beans were what you'd expect, and the fries on the side were crispy and fresh. Portions were generous, so you definitely won't leave hungry. Service was fine and the atmosphere felt casual and comfortable. Overall, it's a reliable spot if you're craving Mexican food but customer service could have been better on a Sunday afternoon as it was a lot of people. read more

Great spot in Nexton. Parking is a little weird. Limited for the amount of restaurants in that area but not the places fault. We were greeted immediately and drink orders placed. Drinks were HUGE. First time visiting this location - what I will say first is that the entrance is at the BACK from where you pull into the parking lot. It was confusing and some bar patrons had to point us in the right direction. But anyway....we were greeted upon entry and promptly seated. Our server was very attentive and friendly. It's a cute space with a large bar that is both inside and outside. Food came out way quicker than our drinks did, but that's ok. The drink was huge and tasty, the food was good. The only issue I had with the quesabirria was that they used more dried/larger spices (leaves, etc) and it provided a strange texture when taking a bite that I had to end up spitting out little bits here and there - gross, I know - sorry. Everyone is so friendly, the food is delicious and well prepared, and when the outdoor bar is open, it has a great laid back atmosphere. We love el patron!! We've been three times since they've opened and every time has been fantastic. Idk how anyone could write a bad review. Food is fresh and delicious. You can even see them making the tortillas!!! One of the nights we went was a Friday and the vibe was fantastic- we got a drink at the outside bar while waiting for our table (which was so nice and service was great) and they even gave out free shots to tables while eating lol. I'd highly recommend the Texas burrito, chicken quesadilla, carnitas enmoladas (10/10!!), and carne asada con huevos estrellados. We were seated right away, and the food service was extremely fast. Our food did come out before our drinks, which took a long time even though our drinks were ordered first. My husband said his burrito was very dry. My chimichangas were good, but not fried very well so they were an odd chewy texture. The restaurant does offer high chairs for children and has a large parking lot in the back of the building. Maybe we will try again after they have been opened for longer for a better experience. read more

Three of us had a Friday lunch here a little after12. We got seated immediately and served with a smile. We each had a chimichanga, one beef, one chicken and one shredded beef. Food was fabulous. our server told us it's her first week, but that's no excuse for the kind of service we got. it wasn't too busy when we got there either.like if you need help, ask your coworkers. the workers brought out my moms fajitas but didn't give her the tortillas until later. the queso we asked for when we arrived, didn't come until the middle of our meal. and my mom asked for a side of jalapeños, just cut, and they brought out a roasted pepper. she was fine but it took so long and she asked three times. and no one told us it would cost something. we were and are more than happy to pay, but it's the fact that we weren't Told anything. no we aren't expecting free food, but we do expect communication. i know it's a new restaurant, and it's cinco de mayo, but we were disappointed. also the food was average. the tameles from trader joe's are better than the ones i had. that's all i have to say. read more

Thought I'd try this new location as we always visit the El patron in Summervulle. We where setted fairly fast. But unfortunately thats where the good setvice stopped. sat at the table for an hour and a half only to not have any food. However a group of five came in 20 mins after us. then got the runaround from the staff and the management when we told them that we never got our food. I left my parents stayed. I will not be visiting this location until they get better handle of large crowds.. The excuse was that the kitchen was backed up and they had too many people because they were new open. If you know that you were opening a new restaurant you need to be staffed to handle the crowd. read more

Service was slow. Took a very long time for 2 margaritas and even longer for dinner. Drink order was incorrect and frozen margaritas are so sweet it wasn't drinkable. Food was meh at best. Server was not very attentive and only checked in on us once and restaurant was not very busy. Very over priced. Probably will not go back. read more

Decided to give El Patron a try for the first time and ordered the steak tacos. Unfortunately the meat had an unexpected gelatinous, fatty texture that was really off-putting. It was not what I expected from a steak taco at all. Sadly I won't be returning, but hopefully others will have a better experience than I did. read more

Wish I had taken pictures but the food was too delicious! We had chimichangas, arroz con pollo, enchiladas and a burrito. The chicken was well seasoned on the ACP.
