Holy Crap...and no pun intended but did they jump and take care of my shit...sorry, had to. My little one decided to explore the laws of physics and well, the experiment was a success. Our septic line from out Traps to the tank decided to go on strike. So let me tell you about how awesome this company is. Sean, I believe to be the owner, was notified by his assistant to call me and he did...like 10 minutes after I had spoke with her. He ran me through a few questions, trying his best to help trouble shoot and save me a few schillings by not having to come out. He ended up coming up, and after a quick inspection, was able to help me diagnose the issues were not the tank (Thank God) and more than likely the line to the tank. So...TLC was called in for reinforcements. They rock too... Anyway, since Sean was out, he told me he could just pump the tank anyway for like $50 more...and of course, I obliged. Here's the funny part...he charged me almost 70% less than one of his competitors had, for our home inspection one year ago. Unbelievable. Clearly that company was "Gouging" us...literally. I've had a septic for 8 years. Twice I've gone with other companies to help me figure out my problems and they gave me the same nonsense answer. This week my house went up for sale and I decided to go with Rio Grande Septic Systems. They came out and inspected my old septic and my new one. Wow!!! What a huge difference in companies. He was incredibly honest and upfront with logical answers on things that needed fixing on both septics. I'll just say if you go with any other company you'll end up calling Rio Grande Septic anyways. I had a terrible experience with Rio Grande Septic. I had to have a new septic installed in my first house that I just bought. To be very clear, I think that the men who did the work installing the septic did a fine job and the work is good. However, if there was something the office could screw up, they did. From signatures, to permits, to contracts, to scheduling, to billing, if the office could F* it up, they did. The result was a 7 week delay in construction and coming in over cost, delaying additional construction I had scheduled and costing me about $1000 more than expected. I'm really disgusted and will not be using them for any future service. read more

This company is the worse I have ever dealt with. First they showed up without the equipment they needed. They made us wait a couple hours and returned and started digging. They claimed the septic system failed and wanted several thousand dollars to put in a new system. The company sent me a bill that was over twice the agreed amount of their bid. They told me if I didnt pay them, they would put a lien on the property! I paid them, even though I got no benefit whatsoever from their service! Now they say they put a lien on my property anyway!? The owner of the property hired a different company, who came out and inspected the septic system and serviced it. There was NEVER a problem with the system. This company performs fraudulent services and bullies customers into paying whatever they choose! Please beware!!! read more

Debras Referral I had my 3 year old 1500 gallon septic tank pumped by Rio Grande Septic on Oct. 20, 2020. I specifically asked before scheduling the November appointment if Rio Grande cleans septic filters when they pump and I was told YES we do routinely if your system has one. I told them we do and especially need the filter cleaned. So I then scheduled the appointment for pumping and filter cleaning. I even ran a hose to the location where the hatches are so he could spray off the filter. The technician was very friendly and said he could not find the filter hatch thus didn't clean my filter. It's February and we cant flush toilets or run water in the house as drains are backing up. 2/17 spoke to an employee "Debra" at RGS and explained I could not flush toilets she said very curtly cutting me off. "We can't do it today". "Our next opening is Monday 22nd". I asked her if she heard the part where I said I cant flush toilets and water will not drain she said she did. I told her we have an emergency, then asked her if she had another suggestion to get fast service and she quickly replied in an offensive tone "find another company". On 2/17 a few hours after my initial call I called back and asked for Debra. I told her I could not reach Shawn on his cell can she have him call me? She said he was busy but would call me within the hour. It is now Friday 2/19 and I have not heard from Shawn or anyone at RGS. I guess Debra's advice was invaluable and I should have just called another company. read more

Excellent customer service, I just called and talked to the owner and was concerned my septic was needing a cleaning. The owner not only answered my questions but since he was in the area came by and viewed my septic and explained how it works. I did not need it to be cleaned at this time and was shocked he advised me of that when most companies would have of taken me for ride. Unbelievable heroics on of all days, Christmas. Shawn personally came out Xmas morning to replace a bad float device in our septic system. With a house full of family in town and a Xmas Dinner planned for 4pm today our septic tank alarm went off this morning!! We would have had to put family in hotels and gone out for Xmas Dinner had Shawn not come over and repaired our pump...... A HAPPY ENDING!!! In this case, Shawn at Rio Grange Septic not only came out to our house several times to go over our options but he was able to suggest what might be the perfect fix until we can tie into the Village of Corrales' sewer project. I certainly did not expect a real human being to answer the phone, but was pleasantly surprised when I heard a voice assure me that Shawn would be out in spite of the snow and in spite of their lack of personnel during COVID. The installation crew did a great job. However, the contract was questionable and caused a lot of problems with the final cost. So, if you are considering using this company, INSIST on reviewing the contract IN PERSON with the owner. Do NOT sign anything until you are completely satisfied with what is to be done and any potential change orders. We were duped because the contract was not 'written correctly by the ladies in the office' and we had to shell out more money because of this. Dishonorable company. One man pony show with very poor customer service. The owner can't keep employees and appears to be failing. The owner even argues with customers. He is very unprofessional. Their fees are outrageous and they do not deliver on their service. We also have had a problem with unsecured lids from this company causing bad odors like the previous review. Do not use them. They have repeatedly failed to properly secure the lids on our septic and our backyard smells like poop all the time. Their secretary does not respond promptly. Additionally, the owner (Shawn Benevidez) tried to spin a story about how the sun must be warping the lids. Ridiculous. We have pictures that show their poor workmanship. The lids should be secured with 8 screws-they only used 4. The first time, some of the screws weren't even lined up properly. You could hear dirt and stones falling into the septic tank along with the horrible smell. Their second attempt was not much better. Now we are trying to get them out here a third time and they have not been responsive.
