SO FUN! I'm a Buffalo girl so moving to the Valley wasn't easy. Going to a Bees game is a blast-my children are huge fans too. Parking is easy, tickets are cheap, and there are always lots of giveaways for the kids during the games. For an out of towner it is hard to find family friendly activities in the RGV-I highly recommend getting out to one of these games. read more

In my quest to review every NBA G League team…read more(https://www.yelp.com/collection/C6OsTLwO5aqzZJ_Ija5pKQ), the Rio Grande Valley Vipers is the first Yelp listing I've come across to already exist (I didn't have to create it) *and* be claimed, yet it had zero reviews and pictures. Let me be the first to give a well-deserved five stars to the Vipers because they have won the most G League championships (3) and have the most Finals appearances (5) of any team in the G League to date. Originally based in Hidalgo and now in Edinburg, the Vipers are the Houston Rockets' G League affiliate. Unlike a lot of NBA teams' G League affiliates, the Vipers are located relatively far from the Rockets. The Vipers' Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg is about 340 miles (5 hours 15 minutes driving) from the Rockets' Toyota Center in Houston. That's like driving from Atlanta, Georgia to Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. The Vipers used to play in Dodge Arena/State Farm Arena (now known as Payne Arena) in Hidalgo, near the US-Mexico border. Coincidentally, the Atlanta Hawks now play in State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The "State Farm Arena" name switched from Hidalgo to Atlanta in 2018, the same year Bert Ogden Arena opened in Edinburg. Bert Ogden Arena was built primarily for the Vipers. It has a seating capacity of about 7,700 for Vipers games. It's one of the G League's newest arenas and features a 6mm LED video board that is 44 feet by 19 feet. The Vipers' video board was the largest in the league at the time of its unveiling. It may still be the largest in 2021. The Vipers are a perennial playoff team with titles won in 2010, 2013, and 2019. Each title was won by a different head coach: Chris Finch in 2010, Nick Nurse in 2013, and Joseph Blair in 2019. Chris Finch is now head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Joseph Blair is an assistant on Finch's staff. Nick Nurse is now the head coach of the Toronto Raptors. He led the Raptors to the NBA title in 2019. Notable former Vipers players include Patrick Beverley, Clint Capela, Montrezl Harrell, Danuel House, and Hassan Whiteside. As a Georgia Tech and Wake Forest fan, multiple players from both of those ACC schools have suited up for Rio Grande Valley. For the Yellow Jackets, they include Mouhammad Faye and Glen Rice Jr. For the Demon Deacons, they include James Johnson, Ish Smith, and Trent Strickland. Johnson and Smith have gone on to have long NBA careers.

Went here to see Los Temerarios and really wish they would have chosen a different venue. Parking…read morewas terrible (worst we have experienced at this type of venue). Officer told us parking was full, yet most paved spots were empty (!!) It was raining when we went and it was all muddy. Cars were getting stuck. Seats are not comfortable for bigger people. They closed down bathrooms before the concert ended. They can do better.

They make it appear that the cars will be spaced apart, but they parked two cars around me and claimed they have every right. There is still open spots. DECEIVING MARKETING TO MAKE MONEY!!! We bought the tickets because the picture online clearly shows in detail an open parking space between every car. If we knew that we would be so close, we would have never bought our tickets.

It's not your normal 5 star establishment but I'm giving 5 stars for so many…read moreother reasons. 5 stars for it being something unlike anything else I've ever seen and in the middle of nowhere at that. 5 stars for the prices & selection of the souvenirs, so much better than on the island or laguna vista. Is it run down? Yes! Isn't most everything in this area? The attitude of the employees was shocking too, there was only 1 guy there when we got there, he was running the entire massive place and didn't complain one bit, was happy to help and that was so refreshing. Later we met another girl working the rundown arcade who was just as nice and helpful :), so 5 stars for staff. We went on a Saturday from 3-5:30pm and we're basically the only ones there so I can understand why it's rundown, they don't have the money to do the upkeep but it was pretty cool to see once. My 3 littles enjoyed it, my mom enjoyed reading about everything in the journey too. So love it or hate it, it's cool to check out for something to do while in town and need a break from the beach (with sunburn like us). It's a one time thing, I can't really see coming back with the condition the games and everything is in. Just have low expectations and be surprised :). Laser Tag was closed, they said it's been closed since Covid started. Just FYI.

Appreciate the new exhibits that showcase SpaceX, Amelia Earhart, Jurassic Park, and several Christmas/holiday themed blowups too. Plenty of climbing space, slides, and activities (car building, paper airplane flying, and dressing up in spacesuits) for the kiddos. Access for the day (10-5 when we went) allows you to jump across both buildings and even come back if you need a break for lunch/naps. Saw ages 2-10 running around and having a blast. Will definitely visit again soon :)
