We loved Bobz World! It's not your normal 5 star establishment but I'm giving 5 stars for so many other reasons. 5 stars for it being something unlike anything else I've ever seen and in the middle of nowhere at that. 5 stars for the prices & selection of the souvenirs, so much better than on the island or laguna vista. Is it run down? Yes! Isn't most everything in this area? The attitude of the employees was shocking too, there was only 1 guy there when we got there, he was running the entire massive place and didn't complain one bit, was happy to help and that was so refreshing. Later we met another girl working the rundown arcade who was just as nice and helpful :), so 5 stars for staff. We went on a Saturday from 3-5:30pm and we're basically the only ones there so I can understand why it's rundown, they don't have the money to do the upkeep but it was pretty cool to see once. My 3 littles enjoyed it, my mom enjoyed reading about everything in the journey too. So love it or hate it, it's cool to check out for something to do while in town and need a break from the beach (with sunburn like us). It's a one time thing, I can't really see coming back with the condition the games and everything is in. Just have low expectations and be surprised :). Fun, but could have been better. This tourist trap was a perfect distraction from a rainy day. In addition to a huge selection of beach related souvenirs. They offer a video arcade, glow in the dark golf, and a wax museum tour. The staff was courteous and helpful. Prices were fair. The kids loved it but the worn down look did not escape the parent's eyes. The owner needs to dump more money into the upkeep. Avoid the half-melted ice cream. read more

Photo op! This place is amazing- it's almost like a Willie Wonka kinda thing on the South Texas coastal plains. This place is a mini-tourist trap. It has places to pose in front of giant sharks, a crashing wave, dinosaurs, octopuses! The public art here is on another level. You need to stop just to look at the parking lot. Once you're inside, you see that it opens up in to mini golf, laser tag, an arcade casino for kids, a whole world of fun and entertainment. My favorite thing about this shop is the expansive gift shop. It looks like all the stuff is made in China or the Philippines, with no local shells at all. There's some religious literature, in case you need that with your beach visit. There's so many different shell creatures with googly eyes pasted on them, and crosses made out of shells. It's transcendent. Everything seems like it has been priced by hand, and they haven't bothered to change the prices since all this inflation hit us recently. Everything is cheap, but I wouldn't be spending too much on imported shells anyhow. This is a must-see if you're driving in from Corpus to South Padre! read more

Visiting South Padre Island & saw this as an activity. It is about a 30 minute drive from our hotel. The gift shop is amazing & pretty good prices. She did the mini golf & Bobz Journey combination. Loved the mini golf even though one of the skill shots ate my ball & we had to did it out. The journey on the other hand has seen better days. Many of the sculptures were missing fingers & other parts & only one of the water features were working. My son really got a kick of it (10 yo) he was sad though that he didn't find treasure. Might go back for mini golf if we make another trip down here. For sure a place to bring kids. read more

Great stop with kids! We played glow in the dark mini golf and took the museum tour. A little cheesy and a lot of fun. Indoors and outdoors it took about 30 minutes and was a hit. Cool place and worth the stop. Get ice cream afterwards! read more

More than I expected. Laser tag, small Museum, waterfalls, jungle filled sculptured animals, glow in the dark golf, large shopping area, food and video games. Fun for the entire family. Seems like a fun place to have a kids birthday party. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by how nice Bobz was. We have driven past there many times on the way to or from the beach. We had a little extra time to kill before check in so we made the stop. First I will say that the restrooms were very clean which is always a plus. I will also add that the souvenir section is second to none. The kids loved the arcade and laser tag as well. read more

Lots of hermit crab shell variety, but I was hoping for bigger shell sizes also. I did find many different kinds to bring home for my hermit crabs, so overall it was a good stop. Took a few funny pics, had some ice cream, and had fun in the arcade with the kids read more

This was actually a pleasant surprise!! Huge and nice variety gift shop. Had decent snack foods hamburger, hotdog, pizza,corndogs,nachos etc.. Had a pretty big selection of blue bell ice cream. We did the tour, pretty awesome although beginning kids got alittle scared age2 age7. They also have a good size arcade and outside lazer tag. All staff was pleasant and the facility was pretty kept. Prices were reasonable not cheap but reasonable. The outside tour was a great place to take photos. All in all will worth the stop! read more

Wow, I can't believe there hasn't been any reviews for this place yet!! You will definitely notice this place as you see the HUGE volcano, sea, dinosaurs, gorilla, etc outside of it! Step inside and see some more statues/figures of pirates, sharks, etc (as well as a bunch of touristy items). You can even take a tour here for $7.50, which we did. It lasted about 30 minutes and just had us two, which was nice! It was like stepping into a mini Disneyland, where you could see people/things from Elvis to aliens to alligators become animated and stick out in colorful, pretty images! They are going to expand this place even more to include a restaurant and mini golfing. You could spend an entire day here soon! Driving on our way to South Padre beach from Austin, we almost got in a car accident trying to look back at what we just passed. Sure we thought it would only take 2 hrs to get to the beach from Austin and sure we were straight super wrong and it took over 6. Being on the road that long without expecting to make you that much more eager to get where you are going, especially when you are 20 mins away. Now take that information and calculate how awesome this place must be for us to STOP, turn around and go back to JUST see the parking lot. It's AMAZING! We got some really cool shots because the sun was setting. Promising that we would stop back in on our way out of the weekend haze that was in our near future at SPI. The haze was even hazier than expected but we did stop back by. Took more photos of the outside because it is ridiculously cool, then went into the gift shop area. Lot's of stuff replicated by the same gift items you can get on the Island. However, the tour you can take is cheap and I was told by two different sets of people, totally worth it. If we didn't have 6 hrs ahead of us of driving, we would have taken the 30 min tour. My family is planning to see this place and we are going to San Antonio for the sites there too. I took myself and my three kiddos here. The arcade was a complete joke. Most of the games were disabled or took your money. The gift shop is pretty cool but overpriced in my opinion. My kids loved the Bobz World Tour, but there were several things that were broken and in major need of repair. Overall, I will never be back. Paid $100 for about 45 minutes of disappointment. I paid for $60 worth of gaming cards, and my kids earned a grand total of 24 tickets. Which wasn't worth enough to buy anything. This roadside attraction needs a facelift. read more

My gf has been been wanting to come here for years, finally went today and walked away super disappointed. First of all the mini golf is only nine holes and its really warm in there. Bobz Adventure was...hilariously bad, like walking through a museum of cringe, really bad looking wax figures and some were literally just mannequins. the whole concept seemed haphazardly thrown together, pirates, cowboys, dinosaurs, celebrities and a borderline racist caricture of Mexicans. I will admit I liked the outside part, they had some good photo ops but be forewarned you cannot go inside the Big Gorilla. read more

Bobz World is an intriguing place just looking at it from the outside...but we didn't do the tour because you can't even take pictures. Supposedly there are some cool super heroes in there besides the dinosaur/gorilla exhibit. This place is filled with touristy souvenirs and awesome knickknacks if your into that kind of stuff! There were some super expensive and large seashells I saw. To be honest I think i enjoyed the Bluebell ice cream shop they had in there. Homemade vanilla and peaches ice cream really hit the spot. read more

I'm not sure what on Earth the first reviewer is referring to, but it does make me curious to wanna learn more. At any rate, I absolutely love this store. There have even been times where we'll drive all the way out to Bobz World, do some touristy shopping, and turn right back around without even having visited the beach... LOL They do have some questionable tiny shark specimens in jars, which was a little disturbing at first, but to each his own I guess. There were tons of varieties of sea shells to purchase, live hermit crabs, lots of little novelty nick-nacks, beach apparel, wind chimes, sand shovels, mini lighthouse statues, and a separate area for tours of their kitschy model statues (which costs extra, if I am not mistaken). I have to admit, the huge volcano, colorful coral reef, and the ginormous dinosaur statues were what first drew us in to this store. A sign outside reads" Why pay Island prices?" which I cannot agree with more. Having been to South Padre as well as the beaches of Corpus Christi in one weekend, I totally agree that prices here are much more reasonable than a lot of the other gift shops we went to. Like another reviewer mentioned, if you check-in on Facebook or Foursquare, you get a free "pectin shell pack" which is pretty much just a collection of miniature seashells. They make great decorations in my office, so that was a win-win situation there! I would definitely recommend Bobz World to anyone needing to buy novelty nick-nacks to take back to your co-workers, or little trinkets for the kiddos. read more

This is a great store for souvenirs. They also have an arcade area and snacks. I didn't try either, but I imagine kids must love that. Even if you don't buy anything, just looking through the little trinkets can be quite entertaining. read more

We live close by and we take the kids every now and then. They enjoy walking in and seeing all the cool t shirts and items they have for sale. They also like taking pictures of the dinosaurs. read more

Took my kids here 4 days ago because it looks like a great time. Unfortunately it was an expensive waste of time. Mini golf was okay but it's only 9 holes. We did the Bobz Journey but couldn't finish the outdoor part. We were immediately swarmed by HUGE mosquitoes the second we went into the jungle type area. Mosquitos always swarm me but these were the first I had come across in the area the entire week I was there and these were the biggest ones I had ever seen. We returned to the arcade area where half the games were out of order and a handful that did work were unable to be played due to covid (even though we were the only people there). Out of the few you could play, the games took money off our card but didn't let us play. Then when it was time to go we checked our ticket balance while waiting for an employee to ever come back to the arcade area. Once the employee came she could not add up the ticket total so we got ripped off there too. She used a calculator twice and still shorted my kid 132 tickets. read more

We toured their gift shop, arcade, and paid for "Bobz Journey" touring the sculptures/exhibits. It felt a bit thrown together, but it was a unique one-time experience. There were a lot of exhibits to view as it was decently long. read more

My kids always have fun with the mini golf. If it wasn't so pricey we would go more often. The store has really neat things to look at.

This place is awesome to look at from the road. My husband and I were intrigued. We took the tour last year and plan to go again. I love the huge gorilla and alligator. This place is soaking wet with advertising but worth the money. The center attraction is "Bob's Journey" which is a small warehouse of assorted thrift shop oddities and collectibles. $12 a person - not worth it. We came through during the week - and the place was empty like a church during Super Bowl. I offered to buy 8 tickets if they would offer a discount - but the kid behind the counter said, "no...no discounts". The place was empty. "You are turning away 8 tickets? No one is here." Again he just stared and said, "nope. I don't care. I don't make the rules". All the tacky ads - and they don't know how to drive business. You hire kids - you get what you pay for. read more

The products are way over priced. The attractions are cheesy and look worn down. And if you plan to buy hermit crab....good luck. The price for the hermit crabs are not bad but its the cost of accessories are astronomical. In my opinion it's highway robbery. Do I recommend you stop and check it out?? Not really. Save your money for South Padre Island. There are better attractions you can do and are more satisfying. Some of them require no money whatsoever. read more

This is a photo op for sure but do not waste your time indoors. The bobz world tour is closed for a second summer due to a fire last year. With out that it is just another shop. Not many unique items and everything is priced the same. $4 shells, $10 shark tooth necklace, and $30 photo albums. There is a nice refreshment area and clean bathrooms to use while your family insists on wandering the store. I do advocate the cause the family is clearly Christian and used there famous tour to spread the gospel and is the reason for the store. But with out it is just another junk pile. read more

Everything in the gift shop was more expensive than the same exact items on the island. The bowling was expensive for how "mini" it was. We didn't walk through the outside attraction, whatever it was, because it would have cost our family of 4 $48. I gave it 4 stars for the laser tag. We paid $15 for unlimited laser tag and my family and I had a blast. I love how it is outside. Would be great if there were more targets on your opponents but we worked with what we had. The machines weren't giving out tickets so most of the arcade games were free. Went to Bobz World to look around. Got hungry so we decided to eat at the Cafe inside Bobz World. The cafe sign said open but no one was around. Sat for about 5 minutes no one came. Went to cashier up front and ask if anyone was at the cafe. Employee said yes I will be there in a minute. She came promptly but started touching food without any gloves and she didn't wash her hands after handling money at the cashier. Needless to say we didn't eat our hot dog combos.
