Santa Fe Sleep Center

One of the most unprofessional medical experiences I've had, and I know what a decent Sleep Clinic…read moreis supposed to be, having had a complete work-up in one in SC 20 years ago. First, the Santa Fe clinic looks like a half-converted generic office. They're supposed to be testing patients' sleep quality, and yet there are no bedside lamps in the bedrooms - just overhead fluorescents. The tech's response to that was that most patients use their IPADs/Phones etc. to read. Ironic - given that one of the first recommendations for improving sleep is to NOT use a blue-screen device right before going to bed. Of course, they're not going to tell anyone that because it would limit the numbers coming through the doors. Biggest upset was that at about 3 a.m. - I was awakened by loud talking that seemed to be just outside my door. I thought the tech was talking to the other patient about putting a CPAP machine on him. But the talking went on and on and on. When I said something about it through the intercom next to my bed - the tech FLEW into the room. Turns out that he had taken a call on his cell phone and was having an extended discussion - either in a door-less console room or he just didn't close the door. That kind of noise pollution in the middle of the night is outrageous for a Sleep Clinic. The tech told me that that patient next door had even complained about hearing the creaking of the tech's chair whenever he moved. A Sleep Clinic should be as soundproof as possible. Both I and my doctor wrote a letter to the head of the practice. Neither one of us got a response -- even though she told the company that she had gotten similar complaints from SEVERAL of her patients. Then to top it off - I got a secondary bill from them four months later for $245. I was annoyed that no adjustment on the original $825 had been offered, given that I never got back to sleep that night and basically reject any kind of recommendations from a practice that sloppy. So the extra $245 caused me to ask my doctor's office to check on it. The extra bill was evidently justified from an insurance point of view - but for $104, not $245. "The amount just got posted wrong somehow," the sleep practice billing person told her. Right ... I think they figured anyone willing to pay upfront for a Sleep Study early in the year (i.e. deductible not yet exhausted) - wouldn't pay attention to a bill that was $141 and 36% over what it should have been. I didn't write a review after my initial experience, choosing instead to write a polite letter to the president pointing out that he had serious quality problems, at least in his Santa Fe office. But since I got no response except an inflated bill four months later - I'm going to post this as many places as I can. If you need a Sleep Study - see if your insurance company will cover going to an adjoining state. If this is the best available in New Mexico - it's worse than useless. Read less Page 1 of 1

This is by far the most irresponsible, unresponsive, unprofessional, and un empathetic organization…read moreI have ever experienced. Incompetent is the word the best describes this organization. Don't waste your time or money with this outfit! you will have to call several times to get anyone to respond, you will have to call the parent company in El Paso and you will have to wait for MONTHS to get what to get your appointment, confusion will ensue regarding the process and you will likely have to go through two studies and then the prescription will likely be incorrect. it's been over a year that I have been dealing with these people and I wish I had gone some where else.
