I've been to a few of these in various cities. This one felt a bit small, but it had the basic weird stuff, fun stuff to look at, funny things, interesting artifacts. It's not that crazy expensive to begin with, but because we were with someone who lived locally we were all able to get in for 1/2 price. It took us about an hour to get through. Meh. We did a multiple attractions pass which made it not quite as bad price wise, buy I still don't think it was worth the price of admission. I've been to other Ripleys "museums" before and they seemed less dated, more authentic and more interactive. Having also been to the illusions attraction, a few of the things in here were also used in there. When you first walk in there are some fun photo opps and "authentic" movie props that then say they are replicas of originals. There are zero places to sit anywhere once inside and there is no bathroom until the very end. If you have someone who has issues standing for longer periods of time or anyone in a wheelchair this would be a difficult attraction to navigate. My nine year old twins did seem to enjoy reading about the oddities and overall had a decent time. But even with playing with a lot of things and my daughter reading basically every sign it still took only 30-40 minutes to go through. If it is a cold or bad weather day maybe this would be a decent option. But I wouldn't waste your time or money otherwise. read more

Unique items and knowledge My husband had never been to this type of museum before. I don't think it would have been worth it for the price on its own but as part of the aquarium package it was worth the extra $10. You go through different rooms with themes like mummies, presidents, torture devices, movie props and along the way you learn interesting facts about people, places, culture, etc. there is a lot of reading involved. Although there are some kid activities along the way it is more for older children that can read. Nice stop if looking for a break from the beach. read more

My wife and I had been to other Ripleys in the past and thought the grandkids would enjoy it. Parking bad at this location so we had to use a lot around the corner at $15 for 2 hours. The first thing they noted was the 10,000 (?) pound sphere on the film of water that is easily moved. I was surprised that the admission got a nice discount! I must admit a number of similar items I had seen prior but there were also many things that were new to me. We took our time, having two hours to spend and read every info placard. We had a great time, really enjoyed it. One of the highlights were motion cameras that translated motion into colors. Another thing of note was a snack vending machine halfway through with special treats such as crickets, worms, etc, for $4. I did purchase a block of candy with ants enclosed, for the family to try. An enjoyable time for all. A pleasant cool time away from the 90s outside. read more

This is the biggest waste of money in all of myrtle beach. The aquarium isnt what it used to be but this cost us $90 for 2 adults and 2 kids and the kids who are old enough to be interested werent that into a lot of the out dated exhibits but this biggest thing was that there just wasnt much here. We were treated so terribly by multiple staff members. My husband and I were waiting for our friends to meet us at the Ripley's museum. Us two couples had split up so we could explore myrtle beach at our own pace. We were at Ripleys and waiting on our friends to catch up and join us. We waited maybe 5-10 minutes. It wasn't long at all. As our friends were approaching us the security guard on duty 8/16/23 came up to me and my husband telling us we had to leave immediately or he'd call the police because we were loitering. We were literally just talking/greeting our friends and in the process of standing up on their steps when he did this. I mean could he not read the room that we were waiting on friends. I even had our pre-purchased tickets in hand. Then as we walked in (I believe her name was Shirley) was at the ticket booth. I said "hi we have pre-purchased tickets. Do you scan them or where should we go?" And she told us we scan them ourselves. Then pointed her finger telling us where to enter. (Which is fine. It's this way at the ripley aquarium as well.) I'm in the process of scanning our four tickets and she comes around the corner freaking out on us that I was scanning them all vs handing out a ticket to each adult like a little kid. Letting them each scan their own ticket. Then wait for the doors to open. Then wait for the doors to close then scan again. (It was not this way at all at the aquarium.) I understand you don't want people sneaking in and not paying but we had four tickets. If I have to self scan to enter then have someone explain the expectations or just count/monitor tickets and people. My friends are on their first vacation in years. On a limited budget. I regret so much that I suggested to my friends to combine the aquarium experience with the ripleys museum. I grew up going to ripley museums. I've been to the museum in Branson, Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, St. Augustine. I've always been able to rely on being treated nicely by Ripley's staff. I can't believe we had security threaten us when we were sitting waiting on our friends. So much for hospitality. I'm so sad to see that this is how our society is going. Just disgruntled angry pissy people. Believe me as someone that served food for over 8 years I understand how grumpy the public can be but I try to be friendly and hospitable. I'm so deeply disappointed in the treatment by these two individuals. I've always loved Ripley's oddities. Now I have a crummy experience tainting it. That said I felt like this museum was smaller than the other Ripley museum and some things are repeats from others. A big portion of the building is an arcade at the end so keep that in mind. The women's bathroom was missing toilet paper and paper towels too. I'd go to the aquarium but I'd skip this and I'd skip the ripleys golf. It looked lame. I got tickets to this museum as a $5 add on per ticket at the Ripley's aquarium. You can upgrade your aquarium ticket to visit Believe or Not for a few extra bucks. After reading a few of the reviews, I did not want to believe them. First, the museum is not located in a great area. It is a shady area if you ask me. Parking can also be difficult. I ended up paying $5 for parking in a lot a few blocks away. The place is not very wheelchair or stroller friendly. I ended up carrying my stroller up the stairs at the beginning of the museum. They have an elevator you can call and have someone operate, but no one responded when I pressed the button. We waited about 5 minutes and moved on. The place was not very big. It did not have many exhibits as compared to other Ripley's Believe or Not's that I have been to like Orlando. Of course it has the standard Ripley's Believe or Not displays such as the two head goat, the long neck woman, the World's tallest guy (whose pants were down and I had to pull up) and Lizard Man. They also had a mummy display and Presidential display along with a dance room which my 3 year old enjoyed. They also have tons of posters/printed material in the essence of Believe or Not all over the wall You exit the museum through an arcade, which costed me a few bribes to get my kid to leave. The museum was ok. Not very entertaining and definitely would not make a good stand alone attraction or an attraction to make a special trip for. I do not recommend going here unless you get a super deal, are in the area and have nothing else better to do. I got tickets for $5 and still feel that was a waste of my time. read more

This is a tourist trap. If you've never been to one before and you're getting this as an add-on to another Ripley's attraction you're going to, avoid it. I really like strange and unusual stuff and they have plenty available here. They get new exhibits in so it is worth coming back. I came to the Myrtle Beach one once as a kid and still remembered some of the content. I wanted my kids to enjoy it, but they were scared of the first few rooms with shrunken heads, two headed animals, mummies, etc. Once we got past that, the kids loved the rest. There are lots of great displays and interesting tidbits to read. I think it's better if your a teenager or older, not under 10 like my kids. There are a lot of items in there that make you think and make your imagination run wild, so that's always a fun distraction if you're an adult with a serious life. read more

We were looking for some things to do and happened upon a special for two places to visit for one. We did the Marine Museum and this place. if you like various and unique stories than this is the place for you. They had things such as the Tallest to the shortest man, mummys, shrunken heads to deformed animals. It is a good learning experience filled with unique and odd stories. It would be a great place to take the kids. Parking is around the back for 10 or you can park on the street and pay the meter if you can find a spot. I am a sucker for off-road attractions so of course we had to come here and check out Ripley's Odditorium. I have been to a few others (one in Orlando and the other in Wisconsin Dells) so I kind of knew what to expect. There were various rooms with different themes ranging from historical to weird to just rare pieces of days long gone by. I read some interesting stories and learned a few things while here. I found the location to be a little smaller than I remembered the other locations being but we still spend a couple of hours walking through all of the exhibit. OK place to step in if it is raining or cold outside. read more

Should have anticipated disappointment when the first display said it was a whip along with an autographed photo of Harrison Ford as Indians Jones. I have been to several Ripley's museums, so I kinda knew what to expect, but I was glad to see new exhibits that I had not seen at other locations. If you are into history, you will enjoy this! If you are not patient enough to read the information and just want to go as fast as you can to get to the next exhibit, you will probably not like it. My husband and I really enjoyed it, as it was a nice break from the sunshine and was not crowded, so we could take our time at each part. I especially loved the Ancient Egypt exhibits. Very interesting! One downside is that admission is quite expensive. We paid about $36 for two tickets. Would be very expensive for a family, especially with children who might not understand or appreciate the museum. Overall, a fun experience. read more

There were some interesting exhibits in this small museum. There was an exhibition on Egypt and the mummification process which was interesting as well as an exhibit on the tallest man. Perhaps one of the funniest things was the bathroom . While you're waiting your turn you hear a series of fart noises which make you think the person in the stall must have eaten something that didn't agree with them when in fact it's a recording . They also have interesting facts posted on the wall about bathrooms . Interesting reading outside and inside the stall. There are a few interactive things one of which are these light up tiles you can dance on, a giant light brite that takes you back to your childhood and a studio where you dance and see a techno image of yourself or group. I wouldn't necessarily revisit this place, but it was a brief reprieve from the oppressive heat. read more

Really cool museum and is A LOT bigger than it looks on the outside. The world's tallest man replica that sits outside of the building is really cool. There are interactive things inside and interesting things to learn about. It was really crowded the day I went so I felt a bit rushed but that's ok! Aquarium in Myrtle Beach. One of the nicer aquariums I've been to actually. They have everything from sharks, penguins, sea turtles, to jellyfish and much more. They also have a few cool interactive experiences as well for an additional fee. You're going to pay a bit more for this place than a regular aquarium however. We paid $135 for a family of four. I've been to Ripley's Believe it or Not in Niagara Falls and felt this was a repeat with 1 exception - the tumbling tunnel was fun and amazing! They have an elevator for wheelchair guests but it's barely big enough for the chair and employee operator who arrives after pressing the call button. Beware of the iron maiden! read more

I've been to quite a few Ripley's museums and this by far was one of the least impressive. Way too expensive for what it was. Over 90 dollars for a family of 4! Gave it 2 stars because my kids enjoyed it but really not worth the money. Maybe if we spent the extra for the bundle it would have made it worth it?? I overall liked the museum. A lot of the items featured in the Museum are things talked about on their show if you watch it. So, some things are not a surprise. The walk through is not that long about 30-45mins. I wish they put more artifacts with the "wow factor" in there to spark more excitement and interest.
