I overall liked the museum. A lot of the items featured in the Museum are things talked about on their show if you watch it. So, some things are not a surprise. The walk through is not that long about 30-45mins. I wish they put more artifacts with the "wow factor" in there to spark more excitement and interest. The price to get in was around $50 but I think from visiting the museum it wasn't worth that, but $20-$30 mark but definitely not $50pp. read more

A nice escape from the sun after getting burnt! The price reasonable for the two of us, and the exhibits were interesting to say the least. We took our time and were able to enjoy all the interesting things that you would not see at your typical museum. I went in the off season so it was nice to be able to walk through it without weaving in and out of crowds. Would recommend if you need a break from the beach and to just have a day of adventure! read more

I'll tell you what I didn't believe - how much money I paid; even with a discount, the cost is significant. I'm not one who will usually balk at a high price; if I (or, in this case, my girlfriend,) I'll do it. We wanted to go in and see the weird stuff inside, so we did. The problem? There wasn't a lot of it. The skulls and crazy weapons and clothes from Borneo and Polynesian islands are cool - as well as the weird animal cadavers and the like. You know what isn't cool? The worlds longest rope made of gum wrappers. Who gives a shit? Apparently, I did, since I just spent a boat load of money to see it. How about a boat....made of SUGAR?! Thanks a lot. I'll head somewhere else next time, and just use google or wikipedia to look up weird stuff. read more

This is a review for the Super Fun Zone, which is right off the side of the Ripley's Believe It Or Not museum in Myrtle Beach SC. On Saturday night, July 26th, 2015, while on vacation in Myrtle Beach I decided to go to Ripley's Super Fun Zone with my family. I only had a $20 bill with me at the time, so I asked for change, so I could get $10 in tokens. (Instead of putting my entire $20 bill in the token machine.) It could have been the way I worded my request, because the cashier, handed me two fives back. I told him that I gave him $20, and that he shorted me $10. He proceeded to tell me that he didn't have a ten dollar bill in his drawer before, so I must have gave him the ten. I explained that his story wasn't plausible because I was positive I gave him $20, but he refused to give me my $10 back. However, he did say that he would count the drawer at close. (Midnight.) We waited until midnight, (which was only about an hour wait) while he counted the drawer. The cashier came out and said they were $350 over so it would take a while to count again. Next, the supervisor came out and said he counted the drawer again and it was only $1 over so I couldn't have initially gave him a $20 bill. I was very confused because I now had two different stories. So I asked them to check the security cameras and he flat out said no. I kept going on about my change and he said if I had a problem I could call the police and file a police report. So I did. About a half hour later, the police arrived and told us that the security camera footage could only be accessed at Ripley's Aquarium, and we would have to wait until morning. In the morning we went to the aquarium. They took our information and said said it would take up to 24 hours to review, and they'd be in contact. 24 hours pass and still no information. It was now Wednesday and I called to find out what was going on. I got transferred and they hung up. I called the aquarium back and it rang endlessly, so I decided to go back to the aquarium. At the aquarium, (now FOUR DAYS LATER) I retell the story and wait for the woman to find a supervisor. She came back out 15 minutes later and said, "Here's your change.", no questions asked. After four days of being given the run-around from managers and making a police report, I finally got my $10 back. The cashier should have paid attention to the bill I gave him, and after pointing out his mistake, I should have been given my money back. I shouldn't have needed to get the police involved over $10. And it shouldn't have taken 4 days to solve this issue. This was a terrible experience for my first time in Myrtle Beach. The fact that the supervisors at Ripley's never apologized for their mistake, means that I will never patronize their business again, and I advise others to stay away as well. read more

The museum is actually very interesting. Anyone who says it is on the small side would be correct, but it didn't change the fact it was packed with unbelievable things. If you have children, it is worth it but there is a lot of reading that goes along with it. For me I enjoy being able to take my time and learning new things. It was informational, and it definitely made me believe enough to go home and do some more research on certain things we found in the place. The only thing I have to say is the aquarium was definitely better but only do to location. The area the museum is in, isn't the best. The blvd is often filled with lots of interesting people, not that good kind of interesting. So try to go on a Sunday afternoon, or during the work week when they are less busy, the crowds can get ridiculous. It often times ends up ruining the fun you'll have inside. Also if you are military again they give a great discount. read more

THIS WAS HORRIBLE. Don't waste your money. Obviously, I did not believe it. I was super disappointed that we wasted money on our trip here. Small kids might appreciate it because they don't necessarily know the difference between good things and bad things. The first time I was here was fun. Maybe because I'd been to Ripley's in Orlando, but it felt like there was quite a bit of "repeat" information from the other museum. I only returned the 2nd time because my mom came to visit and the military discount makes my ticket pretty close to free. It has a lot of interesting information and I enjoyed a lot of the people-submitted exhibits. There are few surprises and scares your first walk through, but unless I had family or friends visiting that wanted to be tourists, I wouldn't go again. The farting machine in the bathroom IS pretty funny. I'm not one to typically find gross out humor funny, but when another woman and I were in there alone, both of us couldn't help but giggle with the obnoxious crudeness of it. read more

I was intrigued by the advertisements for this place, but I made a huge mistake by going in without doing my research first. If we had gone earlier in the day, we could have at least gotten to use complimentary passes that they gave us to the Ripley's mirror maze, which would have justified the high cost a bit. Anyway, when we first got inside I was horrified that we might have just blown almost $50. But as we got further in, it got quite a bit better. There were some interactive things that were interesting and fun. There were some pieces that were definitely fascinating. It wasn't at all crowded so we could take our time. I guess that was a plus too. I would say that the whole place could be organized a little better which similar displays put into "wings" but I'm sure that's not happening any time soon. You do exit into an arcade. I did want to go to an arcade at some point so I enjoyed that. But, since it was a Ripley's arcade, of course most of the games are very overpriced and aged. (There were a few newer things.) I thought Chuck E. Cheese has a better arcade. But we spent $10 and had a few minutes of fun and exchanged our tickets for a toy that my boyfriend's nephew got some entertainment out of too. If this was half the cost, I would go back if they added new items. read more

It seems like Ripley's has a corner on the cheesy attractions in these parts. Ripley's The Aquarium Adventure, Ripley's Mirror Maze, Ripley's Haunted House, and perhaps a few others. We went with the museum, having visited them in other cities, and thoroughly enjoyed our visits. Of course it was pricey, about $30 for two tickets, but discounts are available if you purchase tickets to more than one attraction. Truthfully, after our visit, the price was not at all worth it. First off, it was very warm inside the two story structure. Granted it was a hot day, but the AC was barely functioning, and it was very humid inside. Secondly, the amount of exhibits were minimal and uninspired. Really, the highlight was right before the exit, and it was an exhibit about kinetics and dance. Plus there was no gift shop to browse, unlike other Ripley's museums. read more

Our family splurged on combo passes for the aquarium, museum, 3-D adventure ride, hall of mirrors and haunted house. The aquarium is Ripley's top show case for their family themed attractions in Myrtle Beach. My youngest really enjoys watching the Ripley's shows on TV and has told me about many strange facts which we got to see first hand while touring the musuem. After the museum tour we were entertained by a "swami" who made his best effort at trying to bridge the two worlds of kids and adultland. He tried to tell a few off-color jokes that got very few laughs. His first trick was swallowing a ballon WHOLE, pounding a long nail through his nasal cavity with a hammer and then finishing up by laying on a bead of very dangerously long nails while a female from the standing audience to drop a 12-pound bowling ball on a dinner plate. He ended up with a few nail indentations. read more

Very small but had some interesting things in it. I personally like the aquarium better and did not even want to go to this but my husband wanted to check it out. We ended up buying one of the combo ticket packs at the aquarium. The two cool things I really liked was the floor that you could step on and kick balls or smash ketchup/mustard packets. My 8.5 month old daughter was super excited that she could take steps and kick balls. The other part of the tunnel at the end, which is neat. I have been to a few of these around the states and this one was small and not very interesting. $52.00 for two kids and 1 adult and I don't think we were there mi h longer than an hour. The last part you think you are going to another floor but it dumps you out in their arcade. Just save your money for the big wheel. read more

We had a great time walking around and looking at the oddities! A good place to take a curious 3 year old who can't sit still. We enjoyed the videos that went along with some of the displays and had fun trying to figure out how to open the gate at the end. Was worth our time and the money to walk through. Good place to take the kids and also fun for the adults. They give great discounts for home school. Only has two down falls having to use city parking and if you have a stroller/wheelchair. They us a small elevator that an attendant runs for you, yes you have to wait. They do update it the exhibits ever so often. Been going since I was a teenager. read more

Went here with my whole family. Coat $120 for all of us to get in. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Everything is just pictures with very few interactive displays. Most stuff is replicas. There were a handful of interesting real things to look at other than that this place is just plain worthless. I am super mad it cost so much money for so little. read more

Its really fun to go in and explore. You get to see the cool statue and brief detail. Me and my husband enjoyed taking pics with statues. At the end they have a play zone. Its not scary. Its pretty fun and u can take neat pics! read more

Would have liked to have seen some more interactive stuff. The bathrooms did provide an experience that gave us a story to tell for many years. There are some cool things in here that can intrigue any visitor. If you are claustrophobic I would not recommend as many of the areas in the beginning half of the museum are small and get packed tight with people. It only takes about 45 mins to an hour to walk around but there are quite a few interactive things to keep it entertaining. read more

I gave 3 stars only because the kids enjoyed it (9&11). If you looked at a video or watched the Ripley's tv show you will be disappointed for the price. Old displays in need of repair, many items were not working. Looks like it is over due for a renovation. None of the displays were new items and many replicas. None of the adults were impressed. The one hit was the dance room with large screen simulator, very fun, but if there is any large number of people you will not get to enjoy. It was great because it was late and very empty, so kids and adults got to play more than normal. Overall just over priced, this is 15.00 attraction. Use the coupons! read more
