The only difference is this one is just about the biggest one I've ever seen at Myrtle or any other beach and they have old cars, tractors, trucks and some random motorcycles and other antique vehicles spread throughout the store. Most of the vintage vehicles are just used as displays piled high with Myrtle Beach shirts and towels. Unlike a real museum, there is no signage explaining what you are looking at. What year is this truck? What's its significance? Does it run? Anyway. I would definitely not make a big effort to go out of my way here to see the museum. If you need some cheap junk from a beach store and you're nearby, this would be the one I would go to.

I don't recall how many automobiles are on display, however there are several, closely arranged in four areas. The inside temperature was comfortable. The isle ways easily maneuvered through. Probably easy to get through with mobility issues. I didn't see any specific order of the displays. Not a Chevrolet or Chrysler specific area, however the owner favored Mopar products. Walking through should take around an hour. The collection included many muscle cars with excellent examples of factory "stock" race cars. Also some more obscure examples of little known cars. Several low production numbers cars. Unfortunately some of those low numbers cars were easily missed. You guide yourself. A tour guide would have been nice but I enjoyed my experience all the same. Overall a good experience. I'll probably return next year as they rotate other cars annually.

The series "Lateral Hazard" aspires to be a "playful and thought provoking" exhibition on MB's title of golf capital and our history with the military base. It was neither. The art itself was "meh" and the two artists expressed distain for both the military and golf without exploring beyond condemnation. The "thought provoking" was roughly at the level of "golf and the military power connection are bad, man" I'm a big fan of free speech, so they can say whatever they want. And I'm just a regular guy, not an art critic. Just expected either thoughtful discussion, or engaging art- got neither. Waste of time and space.

Most of the art is available for purchase and they have a price list at the front desk. Both collections we browsed were exceptional and very good choices. They rotate the artists about every 3 months so if you vacation here once a year you will see new art each visit. They have a gift shop with small items. One of my favorites were "mini-vases", all handmade and cute for about $10 each. Perfect for putting small plants in or adding some handmade decorations to your house. The outside area is stunning. Parking is very limited, probably only 10 spaces. You will drive under some live oaks to park which is very serene. They have a very quiet tea room with a view of the ocean. If I was local I would come here to work for a few hours each week. There is one sculpture on the lawn showcasing ocean plastic litter. Skip those plastic straws and drink out of the cup like a man lol. I would like to see more sculptures or statues on the lawn in the future, make the outdoor area more about art. I definitely recommend stopping here if you enjoy art. I will visit each time I'm in the area.

This is the museum for the first public school for African-American students in Myrtle Beach. It's…read moreopened limited hours but is curated by those personally connected to the history of segregated schools in Myrtle Beach and adjoining coastal towns. We stopped by on a Friday morning when it was a little too cold to be at the beach. We were surprised by the personal and warm welcome. This is essentially a small non-profit museum telling the story of the black school built in 1932, and the subsequent integration of schools in the 60s. Cookie Goings gave us a personal tour. She was a former educator and guidance counselor, and her sisters were part of the integration of the schools in Myrtle Beach so she told us both generalized history and personal stories. The original frame schoolhouse wasn't saved, but this building replicates a portion of the one-room schoolhouse and includes items contributed by students who went to the school. The rest of the building has an education center classroom and library. Tours weren't formalized and there weren't tickets required. Admission was free but there was a donation box. There was parking available in front on grass spots. They don't have a website, but use their Facebook page regularly as their web presence. Yelp won't let me link to it.

I loved that you could use the props and available items to pose and take pictures with the figures. It made everything more entertaining and memorable. We also did the maze and the escape room, and both added even more fun to the visit. If you're there, definitely make sure to do them--they're worth it and complete the experience. There are a few full scale models in various positions, which explanations of the muscles and nerves it takes for those positions. Then there are body parts such as a heart, lungs, dissected head (you see the different layers), etc. It was pretty small (just 3 rooms), but if you're really interested in this stuff, take your time & read/listen to all the exhibits. As well as displays of individual limbs and organs. These are not fake models, they are all human subjects that have died and had their bodies preserved through a process called plastination (polymer injection) and then they are skinned and dissected to display bodily systems. We found it absolutely fascinating. It is one thing to see charts or plastic models, but to know this is the real thing made it so much more. The full bodies were in different poses so you can see the different muscles and skeletal positions needed to achieve them. There were also displays which showed a comparison of healthy vs. diseased organs. If you smoke or drink HEAVILY this may change your habits! This and other similar exhibits pop up around the country. If you get a chance, check it out.
