From the warm greeting we received at check-in to the outstanding service throughout our entire stay, every member of your team made us feel welcome and valued. The breakfasts were excellent, with a wonderful variety of offerings each morning. In addition, the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evening socials were a thoughtful touch that we truly appreciated. Your staff could not have been more accommodating. I have a mobility impairment and require an accessible room. I can honestly say it was one of the best accessible accommodations we have ever stayed in. The room was exceptionally clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed, providing plenty of room for me to comfortably maneuver my wheelchair. As I look out my window, I also notice the care and attention that has been given to the landscaping and grounds around the property. The exterior is beautifully maintained and reflects the pride your team takes in the entire facility. Please extend our sincere thanks to everyone on your staff for making our visit so enjoyable. They should be proud of the outstanding job they are doing. The check in process was easy and parking while minimal was adequate during my stay. They offer complimentary coffee and water when you walk in which was a nice touch. The elevator is very old and extremely slow and I found myself thinking stairs might be faster. As for the room I had heard ahead of time not to stay on the sixth floor due to reported haunting activity so I was on the fifth. Each room is supposed to have a theme but mine felt rather dull and uninspired. Unfortunately the room was dusty and I found hair in the sink from a prior guest which was off putting. The bed was comfortable and the temperature was cold when I arrived at 62 degrees which I actually liked. The view was nice but the room was very loud in the evenings. I suspect I was right below the sixth floor bar because I could hear chairs dragging and plenty of noise until about eleven or twelve at night. On the positive side the staff was kind and nobody was rude. I also tried their restaurant pub twice and it was excellent. The fish and chips cheese curds and chicken strips were all delicious and I highly recommend eating there even if you are not staying at the hotel. Overall while I appreciated the history the location and the food I would not stay here again. My three star review is more about the cleanliness issues and the constant noise from above. For two nights in a king room the total was eight hundred twenty five dollars and for that price I expected a cleaner room better upkeep and more amenities.

I talked to the desk clerk who said she would talk to someone who would address the issue. About 20 minutes later a guy knocked on the door who handed me towels and sheets! Hay thanks but isn't it housekeeping's job to make the beds and clean the room? Unacceptable!!! Now why did I rate our stay 5 stars? The manager heard of our experience and took action that demonstrated why she's the manager. She sent Caylib and DeShawn to our room to make the beds and clean the bathroom! They were perfect! Understanding that things don't always go right, it's nice to know that there are people that step up and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Our room preference (high floor/ end room) was granted - much to my husband's dismay... as he was carrying the tour back to the furthest possible point from check- eek. (We did move the bike to the other end for check-out & he was in a much better mood after that shorter trek.) The rooms were noted as renovated a few years ago. Had I not known going in, I'd have guessed 80s (as the hubby did when I asked him to date the last update). The ceiling is concrete & painted mauve, making for (much appreciated) serious noise reduction & perhaps a bit of a hospital or prison feel, if you will. The walls are a light gray, as is the furniture. The artwork (3 pictures) was oddly small (8x10) & hung oddly. They furnishings were, perhaps, excessive. To open up the space & reduce the crammed in strangely look, I'd suggest removing a couple of things. There was a wall shelf/ TV holder. Under that was a desk, literally pushed under, as was dresser. It looked as if the furniture was pushed back for cleaning, stacking it up. There was also a wardrobe, chair & table that slides over the chair (think tv tray). The room was exceprionally clean & in excellent condition. It was 3/4 bath with a large shower - no tub. The bed was comfortable & temperature control worked well. The pool & sauna are not to be missed! The location is great for accessing assorted things to do. All in all a very good stay. We simply have a different taste than the decorator did, apparently. We are platinum with IHG & booked directly, without using points.

The level of customer service is not what I would expect, and I've never had an issue paying additional and upgrading/changing to an available room. Had it not been available, that might have been different. They also would not cancel the room so we could book again with 2 queens or at a different hotel. Both the folks from Priceline tried to get them to, as well as myself in person.

But it is in the woods so make sure you have plenty of off. Don't forget to bring firewood cause each cabin has a firepit. It's about a 2 minute walk down to the lake. Cabins are a bit older but have everything you need and the family that owns it is very kind and courteous. The prices are great at 100 a night plus tax and I believe she said 500 for the week.
