I would say the service alone is worth the 5 stars. The beers were an added bonus lol. I found it refreshing to see an owner so involved and so enthusiastic about the beer selection and his establishment. The bar has such a large array of beers to choose from and it's pretty awesome you can buy cans as well to bring home. I got the pulled pork sandwich because the owner was so excited about it and it made me excited as well. I was able to get the pulled pork sandwich with the fried pickles I had originally wanted. The pickles were good but the breading could of been better executed. The pulled pork was so flavorful and tender. I'm glad I got it. Overall, you should get here. It's worth it read more

They have a large selection of draft craft beers and many were local. I selected a flight of beer and the others had sample glasses and we shared a small plate. They offered growlers of their draft beer and had a large selection of bottles and cans from various breweries. I recommend others give the Casual Pint a try. I've stopped in here a couple times since it opened and I'm glad to have a spot that has constantly rotating taps from a wide range of locations. My beer preference leans heavily to the darker side, so it's nice to see that about a third of what they have is dedicated to stouts, porters, etc. For all the IPA lovers, there is definitely no shortage of those, and they also have plenty of other selections with a total of 35 taps. They seem to change them pretty often too, so there is always something new to experience. As can be gathered from the name, the atmosphere is quite casual, and much more relaxing than the typical bar scene. The clientele seems to have no boundaries as I've taken note of just as many baby boomers and gen-exers sampling brews as millennials (not sure if any of the iGen's are old enough yet). I haven't tried any of the food at this point, but I assume I'll get around to it eventually because I think this will become a common watering hole for my ever-curious palate for craft brews. read more

Tucked into a shopping plaza, CP is a mainstay for husbands whose wives are endlessly roaming the aisles in Target or Ulta as well as any Youngstowners who love good beer and local business. They've got a ton of unique and local beers on tap and available for purchase in cans and bottles that you really won't find anywhere else in Youngstown. The bartenders always give solid recommendations, but to get the full experience, you've got to get a flight and try a few. The food is standard bar food, but that's not what patrons come here for. Really fun new place for all craft beer lovers! The best part of this place is the tap system offering 35 beers on tap with great selections ranging from strong stouts to mouth puckering sours to refreshing ales there's sure to be a beer for everyone! The display is great showing the price, IBU, and are labeled with the brewery, name, and style. Another thing I like are the two televisions that display all the draft beers and the amount left on tap. Not only does this place offer an epic draft selection they also offer rows of six packs to choose from or if you're newer to craft beer or like to try many different styles then they offer single beers or build your own sixer mixers. There really is a beer for everyone and every occasion weather enjoyed at the casual pint or taken home. I'm very excited about this new spot with a fun name. The four stars is due to the food. It was good and filling but it is quite a small menu offering typical bar fare such as pretzels flatbreads wings and then a couple wrap options so there's some variety and the prices are reasonable but it's more of snack / appetizer food rather than getting a full meal. I've been to the Casual Pint quite a few times. It's located in a plaza with a lot of stores and it's nice to stop in for a drink if you're out shopping. Great selection of beers, but on this particular day, my favorite Penguin City was out. Not sure how this happens in the early afternoon on a Saturday afternoon but oh well. Beyond this hiccup, my only consistent complaint is that the bar needs wiped down. Everyone time I go in and sit at the bar, it's always wet from the previous patron. Bar tenders need to keep up with that better. I shouldn't have to ask for a clean spot. read more

Stopped here with small group of family and friends for a beer and a bite. Nice low-key spot. Seems to be a giant garage with a roll down door they open in warmer weather. Have a full-sized bar in the middle with a few tables scattered to each side. Many draft and bottled beers are available, along with a few appetizer dishes to share. Bartender said only the limited bar menu was available at that hour, so I'm guessing there is another larger one during the day. Pretzel bread and southwestern egg rolls were tasty and the latter had a good spicy kick. I stuck with the pilsener draft, which was crisp and fresh. Draft selection favors domestic craft beers, though I believe a few foreign brands were also included (or else the local town sounded very foreign). My first ever negative review, so it takes a lot. Thoroughly miserable experience. We were there at noon on a Saturday, and were the only folks there. Bartender acted like he did not want to be there. Dark stuff on the left; light stuff on the right was the explanation of the beer list. My wife asked if they had any ciders - apparently that takes a wine license, so no ciders. No Belgians on tap. Appetizers - I had the southwestern rolls. Hot on the ends; still frozen in the middle. Sweet and sour wings were pretty good. Bottle prices were high. $4.90 for a Redankulous is redonkulous. Drive another mile down to Vintage Estates or Magic Tree. Walked in on 5:39 PM on Friday 1/12 and was told it was carry out only, apparently because it was snowing. Yes, I know. Snow in Youngstown in January. Stunning. Roads are open but Casual Pint isn't. I can go to a carryout anywhere. I came to your place to get the hell out of the house. And I prefer beer on tap anyway. But it all works out in the end. I'm sitting here at Vintage Estates drinking a Jackie O's Brown Ale as I type this review. And they expressed shock that anyplace would be closed. Helluva first impression. No need for me to go back. The food is unimpressive. We ordered the kielbasa and pierogies which was supposed to be covered with an onion sauce. We got some coin sized cut kielbasa and two pierogies which were very dry. We contacted the manager and he was arrogant and told us that the dish was an "artisan" presented item. It was, in fact, an ugly presentation and completely unappetizing. Beer choices were good, however. OK place to grab a beer, but not a place to eat. For good beer AND food, go to Vintage Estates. read more

Beer was amazing! Love the selection. Food we also loved. Small menu but our wraps were delicious! Service- terrible. The bar tender didn't ask what I would like to drink, instead stood there and looked at me as if I was annoying him to order a beer. We had a larger party of people and sat in the back room. No one came back there to pick up any empty food trays or glasses. In fact no one helped us at all. The girl who carried out the food to us was very nice. She was the only staff member who smiled or greeted us at all. We will try again, could have been an off night I suppose. Stopped in tonight and got the the pretzel rolls served with beer cheese and the potato twisters topped with beer cheese, pico and bacon...both items were simply out of this world. I can not express how delicious the beer cheese is and how much care they put into the food they make.The manager and staff were also very friendly and knowledgeable. I LOVE this place! I come in from California to visit family and discovered that this place sold a very specific stout that I fell in love with (Long Trail Unearthed) and The Casual Pint HAD IT IN STOCK! Juston Homer knows his beers (especially his dark beers and stouts in particular) and was incredibly gracious when I visited last month. I returned there yesterday and he immediately recognized me, recalled my passion for stouts and Unearthed specifically! We sat and talked the first visit like we were old friends and shared our love for the darkest of the dark and exotic brews. GREAT service and a super-friendly atmosphere. Juston is the best! He treats his customers like family (even the rude ones who give a 1 star review for thinking their food is unimpressive). He keeps an impressive and ever-changing selection of beers on tap and on the shelves. You can mix and match a 6 pick to sample beers one at a time.
