So it tasted bland with just a lot of olive oil. My taglia de manzo was good, but I asked for tomato on it. That was a mistake sine they used the same type of tomato. It seemed like the pasta that the wife had was home made, so that was good. The house wine was good, but does not warrant for a 60 euro bill. So it was just an OK experience.

The small courtyard piazza at dusk was quiet except for patrons of this restaurant and a small gelateria across the way. Coming upon the table aglow with candlelight was out of a dream. Even as we were being seated the prosecco started flowing. What a welcome! The wine followed, the food followed, a visit to the grill chef who was masterfully beating back flame on all manner of meats followed. Finally, a pre-dessert table-side visit from the gracious and lovely owner, Bernadetta, artfully transitioned the group from enthusiastic consumption to appreciative lingering for not just this special evening but our entire trip as well. We were all fortunate to be there, and everyone knew it. The most memorable dishes include meat, as the pit master has an enlightened understanding for what the complexities of fire and simplicity of herbs can create together. This dazzling display should be enough to warrant a visit from 100 miles in any direction, but the pasta dishes do not fail, particularly the raviolo with a white sauce. The antipasti were also exceptional as many are replete with local meats and cheeses and grilled vegetables. Despite the perfections we encountered, it's worth mentioning that the menu is laid out in Italian but in a way that's a touch muddled. If you don't speak Italian it might take some time to wade through it. And there is a particular dish that must be ordered in advance. I imagine it is worth calling ahead to order whatever that dish is. I hope I get to return one of these days, if you are anywhere near the Viterbo or even Rome area, you'd be fortunate to make a visit as well.
