Rita's legitimately saved my wedding and I am eternally thankful. I'm a former Arizona resident, but currently live in a small coastal Texas town. I purchased the dress of my dreams at a bridal shop in Austin 5 months before the wedding, but live 3.5 hours south and my wedding was in Arizona. Because of the distance and short time frame, I couldn't utilize the seamstress recommendations provided by the dress shop. I did finally find someone in my town to make alterations but there was a huge language barrier and unfortunately when I picked the dress up 6 weeks ahead of the wedding, the necessary adjustments were not completed. By the luckiest of chances, my mom in AZ found Rita's in a Google search. I was in Arizona for 2 days exactly 2 weeks before the wedding. Rita's explained that the alterations were complex due to the fabric but she could make it work for pick up the day before the wedding - and she absolutely delivered!! The difference was night and day - just perfect!! I cannot believe how talented she is and how beautifully she was able to accommodate my last minute, intricate alteration. Highly recommend!! I found Rita's on Yelp and took my bridesmaid dress to her and she worked incredible magic on it! I ordered a dress based on my measurements, but it ended up being way too long and all the proportions were off. I took it to her and she was able to transform it so it fit me well and looked amazing. She did the first set of alterations in a few days and had my dress ready just over a week after I dropped it off. My mother-in-law consulted Yelp and found Rita's Custom Dress & Alteration. There was ample parking as we pulled into the Plaza. As soon as we walked in we were at ease. She has tons of dresses everywhere, photos and thank you cards from previous brides, and you can tell she is experienced and professional. She is also an extreme sweetheart. As soon as I tried on my dress I didn't have to give her much advice. She knew exactly what needed to be taken in. She also recommended I do a bustle which I hadn't considered before. We made an appointment for me to try on the dress with the alterations a few weeks later. Everything fit perfectly and we made one more appointment for me to come back a few weeks after that to try on the dress with the bustle built-in. Each appointment only lasted about 20 minutes. I paid my first portion on my second visit in the remainder on my third visit-cash only. I grew more and more happy with this experience and Rita is such an incredible human being. I really wish I had a better experience at Rita's given all the high praise she receives on Yelp. I took a bridesmaid's dress there to be altered about 2 weeks before the wedding and I was miserable with the fit. She runs a very busy shop, non stop traffic in and out, only one dressing room, and CASH ONLY. Keep this in mind if you have a large party or several people to fit. She does not have any helpers either. My dress was pretty complicated, 3 layers, and I am petite, so quite a bit had to come off the bottom. I wanted it a tad shorter because I was going to change shoes after the ceremony. Rita was adamant that shorter would look worse (which it probably would) but I was miserable the entire day of the wedding, holding up my dress so it wouldn't drag. Also, I believe something could have been done about the shoulders and bodice to make it more snug. I survived the event, but if I want to wear the dress again, I will need to get it altered further. read more

Rita did an amazing job hemming both my moms gown and my wedding gown for my spring nuptials! I was a bit worried after purchasing my dream dress to have the bottom hemmed for my 5ft 2in height as there were these beautiful embroidered flower appliqué adoring the hem of my skirt. Rita took extra care by removing each appliqué flower and placing them back on after hemming to my perfect height. She also sewed my removable sleeves on and made my bishop sleeve a bit more fitted. While there were other seamstresses that were a bit cheaper Rita was 100% worth it and made sure both my dress and my moms dress were perfect for my special day. read more

They may be good with simple fixes but highly incapable of even slightly complex alterations whether It be an evening gown or a simple skirt . I was referred to Rita from Uptown Bridal for my wedding dress and she is the sweetest lady ever! Please note that she doesn't really take appointments but will tell you what time you should come after your 2nd and 3rd fittings and she takes cash only. Also, her place is really small with 1 dressing room and small waiting area with maybe 4 seats. She's the only person there that will see each customer and help you one on one. She will make sure to tell you to bring your shoes to each fitting so don't forget! Rita does alterations for dresses only and nothing else. If you go there you can see all the wedding dresses she does in the back! I was in shock when I saw all those dresses and she told me she does them all with the help of her husband. I went to Rita not only for my wedding dress but last minute I had to get another gown altered for my husband's military event and I didn't think she would have time but she did which was great! She made sure I got my dress before I had to leave to ATL and was a life saver! For both of my dresses, she knew exactly what to do with them and was very detailed. She made sure it was to my liking but also she voiced her opinion as well and did not rush me. Rita is AMAZING. I had a complicated alteration that I very badly needed for a bridesmaid's dress. I had gone to multiple other seamstresses and tailors before finally finding Rita. The others told me it either wasn't possible, it wouldn't be done in time, or both. I took it to Rita and immediately she says "no problem", and had it done the very next day.
