My mom is queen of tailoring- using one and or doing it herself. We had a real reliable and affordable tailor back in Indiana that we came to love after using them for many years. Then we both moved out to Arizona, which part of adjusting included needing a tailor (her moreso than me). I needed tailoring this summer for a black-tie formal bridesmaid dress and my immediate thought was to go to Kim's, despite the fairly long drive 1-way from Tempe. Due to the drive, I called ahead to confirm they were open (it was a random Friday afternoon). The gals running the shop are super nice and do great work! I needed ~3inches taken up on the dress for 3 layers which ended up being way more expensive than I thought, but Kim told me it's due to the layers. Fair enough. She quoted 2 weeks turnaround and it was indeed ready at the day quoted. I think if you don't give them a hard deadline, it may take longer than you think. So if there is a specific event/date you need something, make it abundantly clear. read more

Do NOT leave anything of importance at this place. This is the third time I have gone to pick something up and the store is closed with a note on the door, saying they are closed for personal reasons, their phone is disconnected. I had a dress I needed for a wedding and I was going out of town, that I had to leave without. They will tell you it will be done on a certain date, when you go to pick it up on that date, and they will tell you it will be another few days. Normally, I would call to make sure everything is ready, but like I said the phone is disconnected. WORST, service ever. The only reason i went back so many times is because they do decent work, if you can ever get your clothes back!!!! Not trustworthy. read more

We dropped off a dress 9 days ago, I was supposed to pick up today. It's a formal gown my daughter needs for an event on Saturday night. When I went to pick up today, there is a sign saying they are closed until Monday due to a medical issue and there's a number to call. I've called and left messages and several texts, no reply yet. We need this dress! My daughter is not an off the shelf size. The sign says they will be closed this week.. why wouldn't they call people who were scheduled to have something altered so we could make a back up plan? I've gone to this place for years. If I don't get a call back and access to the dress by tomorrow, I will never return. Also prepaid $113. Ugh. read more

Absolutely DO NOT take your items here. After waiting for two weeks for our items, we were told the seamstress had a medical emergency and our items wouldn't be done in time. Of course I understood but was then promised a certain date for pick up. I arrived to the shop and it was closed even though the posted hours said differently. Then when I called and called and texted several times I was told my item was not done. I got my money back and was told the other item had been completed. It was not. My husband tried on his pants and they were the same length. This experience was horrible! read more

Worst experience ever! I went to get dress below shortened maybe half an inch.. she pinned it up while i was there.. when i picked it up she had turned it into a vest!!! She offered to pay if I reordered it..didn't have my size available anymore, so she said if I got an XL she would alter it to fit...but would not pay for the expedited shipping to get the dress to me by certain event I was wearing it for (so what was the point), then she decided she wouldn't help me but would refund my money for the dress if I brought her the receipt.. she refused to give me my dress back, but said she would once I showed her receipt.. went can back with receipt, she refunded my money but refused to give me my dress back!!!!!!! She said it was hers since she just bought it!!! Worst experience ever, I was so upset had no idea how to handle the situation so just left after I saw my refunds had posted on my account... be warned she is a terrible human being!!!!!!!!!! And the whole time she is yelling and cussing me out in Korean!!like it was my fault or I was being unreasonable. Pictures below of what she did! I prepaid my alteration and was told to be back in a week. I came back, the seamtress couldn't find my pants. I eventually spotted my pants in a pile that was not done. So she totally forgot the service! This was the first time that a tailor has forgotten my order, never happened before! When I went back the second time it was still not done. I was very upset. The two seamstresses in the front offered no apologies whatsoever, one even started to cuss at me in Korean. The guy in the back heard the commotion, came out, not only did he not apologize, he used racist comments towards me, implying that Koreans are better people than other races. I am appalled that they can still be in business. Stay away from that shop for your own good. Totally unprofessional people and racis! read more

I recently gained weight due to a recent surgery and the women working there did nothing but tell me it was ridiculous to try to fit in the items i brought in for tailoring. She tried to rush thru my questions and was straight up rude. She made me leave feeling incredibly uncomfortable and will not be returning. Go somewhere else for altering. read more

I do not recommend Kim's tailoring I walked in for two pairs of pants to be hemmed and three buttons to be placed in the correct spot on two different pairs of pants I was charged $42 dollars outrageous now that I have my two pants both pants do not have their buttons interesting huh I do not recommend Kim's tailoring if you have a friend or family member who can sew buttons or do hymns ask them I'm sure they will do a much better job. read more

I called ahead of time to see if they could fix a zipper for me within 6 days. I was told yes, of course... so I drove down there same day. They said it would be ready by Wednesday and to come any time that day for pickup. I paid ahead of time and left my item to have the zipper fixed. Come Wednesday I go at 11am to pickup and it hasn't been touched. The lady literally laughed because it was apparently funny that they "hadn't gotten to it". I was told to come back in 30 minutes. I sent my husband TWO hours later to pick it up and they STILL hadn't gotten to it. They told him to sit and wait 30 minutes and they would fix it. I paid 25$ for a zipper to be fixed. They didn't even need to put a new zipper in. It was a simple and quick fix. Overpriced. And apparently just not important to them to finish within the given time frame, twice. Horribly frustrating as it was time sensitive for me. Two stars because they did a good job and were very nice the first time I dealt with them. But- Unprofessional and unreliable. I came here for a couple of garments (dress and suit) to be altered for an out of town family ceremony. While they were able to accommodate the rush, they charged huge fees. (Over $200). Another suit coat was dropped off and after three attempts, and multiple payments to get what I wanted - they insisted i never asked for what i wanted (4 buttons on a suit coat). They claimed I was wrong and to prove it showed me a receipt written in Korean. When I pointed out that the receipt isn't fair to say "see? It clearly wasn't included?"...they wanted me to take the receipt to a translator. The point is I asked for 4 buttons from the beginning. Initially it came with zero buttons then after paying more, it came with 3. When I brought it back to add one more to make it 4 - they wanted to charge more!! "The customer is always wrong" seems to be the implication. Other customers waiting in line tried to intervene on my behalf to get through to them to no avail. They sighed and said "they're over this" and "it's not big money, you should just pay". I'm not a complainer by nature, but this is really offensive. I encourage you not to use this business, and if you do, speak VERY clearly and do your best to ensure what you want is written on the ticket. If you speak Korean you'll have somewhat less challenges!! Update 1: Ok so while I'm sitting here waiting for two buttons to be sewn on...I heard the English speaking clerk say into Siri on her phone "racist" and later: "greedy". As much as I'm not a complainer by nature, I'm also not paranoid. That said, this is beyond offensive, and I highly caution any potential customers when considering using this establishment for your tailoring needs. Update 2: while sitting here waiting silently for them to sew two buttons on - they're calling an attorney!! They said they have a little issue with the business. Again, trying hard not to be paranoid but this is really out of hand. I never called them a name or got belligerent. Merely reiterating the case that they gave me an estimate, and they're claiming I never asked for buttons. Then when they put fewer buttons than I asked for (and paid for), they are now trying to call for help. If you want this treatment, then this is the tailor for you!! read more

Over the past few years I've put up with their terrible service. They are rude, don't finish on time and charge way to much. It's convenient and they did a good job. I just picked up a jacket where they were suppose to put in a couple hooks and tighten up the buttons. I paid a lot of more and the buttons were not done and she wanted $2. MORE per button!!! I rarely need to have clothes altered, but I had a tank dress and the arms were too large. I admit I waited a couple weeks to try it on, but when I did it was so tight, the armholes were much too small. When I returned to explain they said I should have tried it on immediately, but they didn't suggest that when I picked up my clothes, which I told them. I really didn't expect there to be a problem. After much haggling and the owner speaking very harshly, at least her tone was, her workers communicated what she said in English, she had me try it on so she could see it. She told me I must have gained weight, which I assured her I had not in the last few weeks, and certainly not enough to make the dress fit that tightly in my arms. By the time I left I was exhausted from all the back and forth. The owner just kept making loud, snappy statements while she took measurements. I have a feeling the customer is NEVER right at this establishment and needless to say I'll never go back there again. It's too bad because I want our local businesses to succeed. Paid $70 to have two dresses altered. Left my phone number on the receipt, which I still have as proof, and they shut down without informing me. I now cannot get my clothing items back and am extremely upset with the company. I had them altered for a special occasion coming up and now I not only won't have them in time, but am not even sure when they will re-open so that I can get my items that I already paid for back. I went there with my own fabric, asking her to make some curtains for my girls' room. The Dimensions were small 2 windows at 20 in X 20 in, and 3 at 16 in X 16 in. She quoted me at $500. I had bought a casual dress a while back where the length was perfect, but the bust didn't fit. I didn't want to return the dress to the store because I loved the colors, style and length. So for the first time, I sought out a tailor. I decided to give Kim's Tailoring a try since I knew the shop had been there a number of years. When I walked in, it looked as I had expected, with a front counter, dressing room and rows of clothing items. Kim was friendly and knowledgeable in answering my questions, so I felt comfortable leaving my dress with her. She gave me a one week finish date and she was right on time. A couple of months ago, I took a simple item to be fixed and I was not overly impressed with the end product. I used Miss Kim for the last 10 years and was never disappointed with the work completed. When I took this item in, I was charged more than I've ever paid before, and I was not thrilled with the work.
