I am so glad I found this place. I called around 8:20 on Sunday morning around. There wasn't an answer but I was called back in less than 10 minutes. I advised I had just removed my braids and wanted to have my hair washed and styled. We agreed on a 9:30 appointment. I arrived at 9:35 and was immediately taken to the wash bowl. I got a wash, deep conditioner, blow dry and some loose curls. My service was excellent. My stylist was professional and customer focused. She was also generous with the products. I was in and out within 2 hrs. The price was also reasonable. The salon itself was spacious, quiet, with several stations. Easy, friendly, fast, good prices and no one is loud on the phone or trying to up sell you on products. I had 2 hours while on travel and I was in and out with a deep conditioner too boot in that time. Bring cash as they don't take credit cards or Apple Pay. I paid $65 for my wash, set, blow dry and deep conditioner in early November 2022. I have natural curly hair normally and no perm. Quick addition: 11/29/22 Alas they are good but not consistent on days open and closed or times. Don't look at the door or Yelp to help. I came into the salon to get a shampoo, blow dry and style with a flat iron. I ended up receiving a complimentary deep condition as well, it was very nice. They have many dryers and even steamers in salon that I thought was very cool. The women who work there were very kind and made me feel very comfortable. It's always tough going to a new salon but I'm glad I found one just up the street. I paid about $55 after tip for my service which was definitely a steal. read more

I happened to be nearby on a Monday when most salons are closed but these hard-working ladies are here every day according to posted hours, and "walk-ins are welcome." I'm not Dominican and have fine thin hair that I like to keep simple with a shoulder-length blunt cut and $60 seemed reasonable for DT Silver Spring (although I pay $40 in the suburbs). I was given a terrific massaging shampoo and condition but then after a short towel dry, my hair was clipped on top of my head and I was mysteriously placed under a dryer! That's a first! After 15 minutes I was about to liberate myself from the dryer when the stylist who arrived 15 minutes prior appeared and cut my hair. She did a good job although was too pushy about what length was best for me and left it a little longer than I would have liked. Still, all in all I'd return -- I'd just inquire if the stylist was here or when she'd be available lol. read more

I'm of mixed race and this is best place I've found to work on my hair. My hair is sort of a frustrating texture of not quite curly but frizzy but this place does a great job relaxing, coloring, and styling my hair. They are always professional, prompt in their service, and pleasant people. I have been coming here for years and I highly recommend. Also, it's just a short walk from the Silver Spring Metro. I have been coming here since 2008 when I used to live in the area. I moved back to New England and any time I am in the area I come get my hair done here. I also like my stylist at home but when I come to Maryland I purposefully don't get it done prior to coming so I can get it done here. They provide quick service and do a great job. I have curly hair (tight curls) and usually wash, set and blow dry. The stylist, Dania, is my go to person. When she blow dries and styles my hair it feels like a massage. She does it so well and is so gentle yet makes it look amazing. The fact they have been here for so many years despite name and owner changes it's telling. The hair salon has been renovated and it's more modern than when I started coming here. I highly recommend it to anyone especially my Black and Dominican fellows who need expert hair dressers who know how to handle our hair types. You will not be disappointed. read more

I am surprised that this place is always so empty. I'm nervous about leaving a five star review because I don't want everyone to find my secret spot. I'm always seen right away. And they do a good job. The ladies are super nice (unlike quite a few other Dominican salons). Love it here. I went there today, and the quality of work was excellent but it is too expensive as I had only shampoo, cut and brow-dry and they charged me 70$. I asked them to get me the detail services and they told me shampoo and brow-dry is 55$ and hair cut is 15$. It is not responsible price as I used to pay 35$ for shampoo, cut and brow dry. My concerned is only about the price but the lady she did a great job and I love my hair cut. I won't come back there, because it is too expensive for just little thing. read more

So I went to get my hair braided at Rita's yesterday Andrea I wasn't not very happy. Don't get me wrong, the braiding they did was beautiful but it was not what I asked for and I continually told them to make changes as they were braiding and although they said they heard, they didn't change anything. For one, I'm fairly young so I asked to put color and I asked for the braids to be fairly large so I could do things with the braids. Instead they made the braids very small, so now it's weighing down on my head a lot and I can't even put it into a ponytail without pain. Because the braids were so small, the colored hair I brought that would usually be enough if the braids were bigger does not come out and is not distributed around my head well at all. This was my first and only experience with Ms. Rita and I was very excited, but now I don't think I will go back to her unless it's my only option. read more
